    brian!! i actually discovered your channel today when i was searching some cues for deadlifts. My lower back starts to round as soon as the bar leaves the floor and the chest starts to collaspe, which i didnt know until recently when i starting filming some of my lifts. today i tried your chin down cue (didnt have a towel to put it under my chin though lol) and it works wonder! i felt so good in my lower back and the entire lift! thank you so much! :-)

    Great video Alpha. I wanted to add to the Rubbish Rows, and say that I have done them in the gym hugging plates stacked up or sideways (much like Kale Beck has said to do to help train stones in a commercial gym by putting a loading pin through them and holding the sides) and have noticed a lot of carryover to stones and such. Just another great way to build your back/posterior chain/deadlift! Sorry for the long post, and again, great content as always!

    very useful, very helpful and very funny as always mate, thanks for sharing! i've been doing those squat day finishers (BRUTAL!) and i'm seeing and feeling results, thank you so much! gonna try these out too, so excited to try them out, as deadlift is my weakest lift due to little niggles i've picked up from it over the years. love your videos, keep up the good work mate. And MERRY CHRISTMAS! Tom in England.

    Today is Deadlift day. I will be doing the +2 deadlift every minute as a finisher. And since you didn't name it in the video and I need to call it something in my log, it's now BA Deadlifts. Congrats, you got yourself a deadlift. You're the kind of guy that doesn't get one deadlift named after you, you get the whole progression named after you. You're the man Brian.

    Love this series, Brian! I have a question. Maybe for a future Q&A. I am running Dark Horse template right now. I am not particularly strong at any one lift, nor am I special, so I can't be the only person running into this. Here goes: on upper body lift days, I crush the plus sets. My top set in the build phase (on pressing days) is always 10% over the top volume set, and I get at least one extra rep over the required. On the volume work, every set is +2-4 reps over the minimum. So that's all good.
    But on squat and dead days, I struggle. On the build portion, I get the minimum of deadlift reps. Maybe 1 extra on the top set, and it's a grinder. On volume deads, I often have to suck wind for a breath or two to get the last 3 or 4. On squat days, getting the required minimum reps on my top set is a battle. Getting the minimum reps for squat volume is like... ugh. For 11 reps, I bang out the first six and then break the rest into 2 or 3 reps at a time without racking the bar in between.
    I'm not gifted in upper body. It's as skinny as the rest of me. I don't have any special proportions that give me an upper body advantage or lower body disadvantage. But I struggle to hit the minimums on lower body days (especially the squat). Do I have an especially lousy squat? I would expect dead lift to be the more challenging/draining day, and it is challenging, but not like squat day.

    Could deficit (2 inches) bands assisted conventional deadlift be the only deadlift variation you would ever need? It takes care of the lower part (speed off the floor) and makes the lift heavier towards the end, mimicking block pulls as well. I would imagine hanging the bands would make the pull feel more natural and smooth.

    @alekshatz6325 5 років тому

    It's a myth that CNS is what gives out when deadlifting frequently. For practicality we can claim that, but literally, it's the actual muscle trauma that doesn't recover enough. Test it out yourselves, deadlift every day, but Bench progressively every other day (like you would), (different muscles, same CNS) and it's unaffected. That being said, overstressing the deadlift will still require more calories that should be added to compensate the bench recovery, and overtraining is real in a "bed-ridden" stress hormones kind of way (I'm guessing on this one). It's just not the CNS that fails to output. (as muscular stress accumulates, CNS isn't the limiting factor)

    • @alekshatz6325
      @alekshatz6325 5 років тому

      Grip will fail muscularly, and every other muscle but not pressing, for example, which uses different muscles. Likewise, if you bench everyday, hypothetically safely, your grip won't fail even though the CNS is "taxed".
