    I did the interior mod over the weekend. Really cool, easy mod. Thanks Harley!

    And the build off begins.That's a really smart idea on the shocks,that no cost mods will allow the kiddy to add up and do some great up grades in the future smart thinking. So looking forward to the battle of the budget build.

    I have no idea of this is the intended purpose, but the 4 small holes towards the center top of the bed cage hold the body clips perfectly. I lost two of mine before I figured that out.

    The tip on switching the springs on my shocks. It does help with performance. I just picked up a Trail Honcho 2 weeks ago and intend to follow you making my upgrades.

  • @kersen13
    @kersen13 7 років тому

    An easy upgrade is getting rid if the body post. You can use a Bondi pen and packing tape to fill the holes works pretty good..

      They always seem to be series that people like, I feel really good about this one too. They aren’t easy to do though so by the end I’m usually burnt out!

    OMG... That magnet job is genius. Might need to do similar suspension adjustments on my SCX10ii Cherokee. Tempted to put a different body on it. I wish there was a 3rd gen Tacoma available.

    I've learned that the parts are there to do spare tire, just need bolts and tire.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  7 років тому

      The rear lexan bed is not the same shape to hold the spare now. So the old mount will not work directly with this one.

    Love the series very inspiring, I have a Honcho so I have been following your comments closely (yes I now have a shopping list) , I made the suspension changes that you did in Week 1, but found that I still bottomed out when crawling, I ended up going up to 35wt Shock oil, swopping out the front white 1.13lbs/in springs for the green 1.70 lbs/in springs but still kept the Yellow 2.63 lbs/in on the back, and I still had to turn the tension collars down 8mm on all four shocks until I no longer make contact with the body panel on front and rear, I am not carrying a spare wheel on the back and I am running a 2S battery pack (267grams) am I missing something here?

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  6 років тому

      Making contact with the chassis or body is ok, some rubbing is not a problem. I would rather keep everything very low and controlled rather than more rigid and never rubbing.

    No problems with leaking shocks? Mine were leaking - pretty badly at that - out of the box. I'm also noticing when my rear axle articulates the lower and upper links on the side being compressed come into contact with each other preventing full articulation. Don't think that bind up is a problem though, seems to have more articulation then needed. Spacers, there's a set in the box - I think they are a part of the optional light mounts included, but they also work fine for spacing out the rear shocks on the towers. I performed your spring swap and rear shock tower mods in addition to clearancing the pan hard bar and trans cover (which I know you do in your next video). :-)

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  6 років тому +1

      Oh my shocks definitely leak. They are probably completely empty. Not much you can do about the stockers

    • @nukedathlonman
      @nukedathlonman 6 років тому

      Yea, I got a feeling mine are empty or close to it with how bouncy my rig was getting towards the end of my first run. XD

    So I'm a noob to RC and I just got one of the Trail Honchos in the mail. However, after following all the directions, the car only moves about 5 feet and then stops. The lights and steering still work though. Any idea what's going on? Could it be that I tried to use a Traxxas ID battery with it?

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  5 років тому

      It sounds like it is going into Lipo cutoff. Is the battery fully charged?

    • @Flying_Dollar_Motorsports
      @Flying_Dollar_Motorsports 5 років тому

      @@HarleyDesignsInc I'm using a 3000mah 7 cell Nimh Traxxas ID battery and it is fully charged

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  5 років тому

      There is a small plug on the ESC that needs to be changed to NIMH. Most people use LIPO so that’s the default configuration. The ESC things you’re using a 3s Lipo and is sensing too low of a voltage once your NIMH sags.

    • @Flying_Dollar_Motorsports
      @Flying_Dollar_Motorsports 5 років тому

      @@HarleyDesignsInc I bought a Lipo in advance but it has the wrong connector. I already had the Traxxas to Dean's adapter so that's why I used it. I think I know what plug your referring to. I'll try it.

    • @Flying_Dollar_Motorsports
      @Flying_Dollar_Motorsports 5 років тому

      That was it. They should make that a little clearer in the instructions I guess. Thanks for the quick reply! If I wasn't already subscribed I would do it now for sure. Gonna do the shock mod right now!
