I love the view of the Grand Tetons. Did you guys also have some downhill fun on this trek? Given that I am seeing a rail trail or service road, it looks like its all flat.
Hi Tom, at time index 5:42, you planted the camera on the tripod. Would you say the camera was plumb? I ask as I am evaluating the insta360 horizion leveling. I notice that as I spin 360, certain viewpoints are level while others are of a sloping axis. While I’m sure we all just ignore it, I was wondering if you found that to be a ‘it is what it is’ aspect of the camera vs. the gopro auto leveling? I ask I hope to buy an action cam and you have experience with both.
That is a great question. I just stuck the extension pole into the snow with the camera in the vertical position so the chances of it being perfectly plumb are low. The camera has a gyroscope sensor which electronically adjusts the image in real-time to establish the horizon. There is a function in the camera settings to calibrate the gyro if it gets wonky. I usually calibrate it after a firmware update. For the most part it does an amazing job. I don't know how it compares to the GoPro 360 camera as I've not used one. I did use the horizon lock feature on the last GoPro (Hero 11) that I owned and the Insta 360 also has this ability when recording in the single lens mode (action camera mode). My Insta 360 is limited to 4K 30 fps when the horizon lock is on but can shoot in 4K 60 when the horizon lock is off. I have another 360 stationary video that I recorded a couple of weeks ago that you can check out. It's not "live" on my channel yet, but you can view it with this link for a few days. ua-cam.com/video/u7LX25nCqms/v-deo.html
That was a fun video! I loved the glade you skied down. Yeah, the camera looked plumb there. I guess we’ll see improvements to the auto horizon as AI comes to town. Thanks for sharing!
Very pretty! Fun to watch.
Hi Kari, we are glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for tuning in and have an amazing week.
Well that looks like it was fun!
A beautiful ski outing and a perfect bluebird day. Thanks for tuning in and for posting.
We sure wish we were there!
