71 year old Army here. This song was their 2nd Grammy nomination after "Dynamite" so it was EVERYWHERE and got a ton of radio play. They dropped three upbeat all English songs to cheer up Army during Covid: "Dynamite", "Butter", and "Permission to Dance". They write a lot of their own music along with in-house songwriters, but since they wanted all English songs, they were mostly written by U.S. and British songwriters except RM co-wrote "Butter" with seven other songwriters. Despite them not being as involved in the making of their 3 english songs (including butter, RM was involved for some of it), YES, they do write, compose and produce their own music. You probably heard this almost everywhere because its one of bts' most promoted songs, it broke multiple records and of course was promoted on tiktok. You've probably heard it on a Samsung or McDonalds commercial. Also CURRENTLY they are doing solo MUSIC but they are still a group! This is only temporary until 2025 since the members are leaving 1 by 1 for the required military service of korean males. (All korean male citizens are required to serve in the military by the age of 30). And yes, they write their own music and produce their own beats (not by themselves ofc) but the majority of their music is by themselves!
They just recently started going off and doing their own thing. For about 9 years, they were making music as a group, hence all the albums they have. Then starting this year I think, they started doing their own solo projects mostly.

Soooooo hilarious to me now the singers got to all the hip hop industry beciase they know the singers 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣but in the end the rap line is the best . jhope!!!!!! j-hope choreographed , taught and coached BTS and rap line wrote most songs for BTS . j-hope coached BTS all the way from loves to facial expressions to hip hop dance moves etc I can go on and on. He also was amazing as far as stage presence he has hip hop style big time and is fun and personality is huge so now you see them hige in personality . If not for j-hope they would have just been another k-pop . BTS is first to say this . Now BTS is the best !!!!

This song is played on the radio now. These seven guys signed to a basically non existent company. That company is now worth more than the big 3 in Korea. These guys make up about 5% of their countries entire budget. Billions of dollars.
I'll tell you right now, if nowhere else, you heard this in every samsung commercial 2 years ago, lol. Every single one Galaxg or otherwise, they are brand embassadors for Samsung and this song was on everything Samsung put out. Definitely on tiktok and the radio too. But especially around Christmas time.
They are spelling ARMY, but what is cool is the rapper who was in front in the middle is named RM and the way he was positioned between ARMY is that he too spelled out RM because of his name. I know in California I heard this song on the radio and on commercials.
Majority of the time they do write and produce their own music but they do work with both western & local artists that compose certain songs for them as well as do collaborations …. for example they did a collab with Coldplay with the MY UNIVERSE during the pandemic plus a documentary video of them recording it with Chris Martin on top of that they’ve done many other songs with steve aoki, chainsmokers, latto, wale, warren g and coolie, nikki minaj, nas x, billy ray cyrus, and local Korean artists etc.
