Quick Review: I love the laptop. I hate Win 11. I hate the keyboard layout. High chance of key mistakes due to the keys being moved right. The keys are sticky as if you spilled soda on the keys and let it get dry and sticky. The laptop stays cool under full load. Max temp is at 60C with full blast fans in 100F Texas weather. I wish the ports were on the back instead of the sides. It has less I/O ports than the Legion or MSI.

When you had the Legion laptop did you use a laptop cooler under it while gaming?
No, I did not. It was advertised to have a powerful vapor chamber. It was on an elevated stand though to allow full ventilation of underside. The i9 inside still might have been too hot for it till it burned out and stopped working. Sold it on FB market place for $400 cash.

@@ThanatosDMC another question....how long did it take before your processor gave out? And are you 100% sure it was the processor at fault? What diagnosis did you perform to be able to point that finger directly at the processor?

Yes. It will eat any games you throw at it without any issues.

No, since I use it as a desktop replacement so it's always plugged in. You can shoot a question on Microcenter's website for the exact model and an HP representative will answer your question.
It's mentioned right in the specs ThanatosDMC shared. It's 83Wh.
Its 83W hr Battery , they have said it long last 7 hours on video streaming and MAX is 9 hours Mentioned
What is the color gamut for the Omen 17 QHD display? I can't find this info online.

Yeah, you can charge it with one that has a lower wattage. I keep the original at home but I have a spare one at work and it charges fine. I just don't play games at work so I don't know if the battery would have a crazy drain during discreet graphics heavy use. I keep my settings on hybrid mode for the most part.

Hmm you sure the tdp is 165 w........I think they may cap it to 115w according to what they do to the previous omens with a 100w 3070
I have the laptop and tested it. Unless the programs i used are faulty. It's a full 3070ti. 150w gpu with 15w boost from cpu that's how it seems. I think, it's capable of hitting 170w but the Bios is locking it to go above 60°C. The fans are loud at 4600rpm. I don't have a cooler to lower the gpu and cpu more.
One thing I noticed is the right fan on my laptop seems to not blow as much air out of the system though it does have two vents on the right side and only one vent on the left.
@@ThanatosDMC maybe, I'm not sure. But a 3070ti running on 165 w in the omen chassis.......not sure if it can handle that much heat but I'll see for others to review it as well. I'm pretty sure the left vent is the intake vent if memory serves me right

@@RandomGamerwithPotatoisMyName So far it staying in below 60°C. Can't tell if it's being throttled though. Everything ran smoothly while I'm recording gameplay. Haven't noticed and slowdowns.

I just got the 2022 hp omen 16 model in shadow black with intel i7. I noticed in your video and everyone else who does unboxing on this model has the omen logo in gradient rainbow colours. Mine has a shiny black logo, are these different models or something?

Funnily enough I asked the same question to the Microcenter employer. He said 135 tdp for the gpu only for the rtx3060 version.

How long does the battery last?
That would be a question for someone else. I use this as a laptop replacement. I highly doubt it would last a long time due to the rtx 3070ti inside and 17inch screen.

What’s you thought the track pad ??
Definitely not as good as the Legion 7i that I had. It doesn't feel as smooth and accurate. It's better to just use a mouse and completely turn off the track pad via fn key.

Yes, you can switch it on or off via the OMEN app and then the laptop reboots.
