Model Railroading Tip: After you finish running your trains for the day, make sure to clean the wheels and the tracks with rubbing alcohol and a cloth or tissue, to get rid of dirt buildup which prevents good electric connection and running
You shouldn't need to do this every day. If you are using modern nickel-silver track, then this isn't necessary. If you are using old Steel track (check this by seeing if it attracts a magnet) then maybe this would be needed, but even then track cleaning might only be once a week. I'd suggest cleaning your track between once a month or once every 3 months depending on how much you run your trains, and your loco wheels should then only need cleaning between 1-3 times per year, depending again on how long they are run for.
@trainspotter _Alex I'm pretty sure DC is more likely to get dirty than AC, as AC has both rails live (I think, I've never used it before, I'm not a Marklin user or a DCC user) and at a constantly alternating polarity, whereas DC has a +12v rail and a 0v rail. I think because of this, there is significantly more build up on just one rail, and the other stays pretty clean. Unlike AC, I believe DC has the electrolysing / other similar properties that cause the black gunk to form, unlike AC, which seems to keep things pretty clean. If you say you've never cleaned the track for 7 years, and they still run fine, then this is probably the case! I find myself cleaning track maybe 3-4 times a year. Some of my engines are quite old ones, and once the coating on the wheels wears away, then they get dirty quick.
@trainspotter _Alex Fair enough I suppose! I have a loco from 1971 (Flying Scotsman with Realistic Chuffing Sound, you might have heard James May has one) so that makes it 50 years old! I have another Triang 0-4-0, another old one, but I don't know when that's from.
The “different color wood” is supposed to resemble replacement planks. That’s why they look so clean. Count yourself luckily because I’ve never seen anything like that before
Thanks for the video, i purchased the LB&SCR Terrier and liked it so much that i purchased the LSWR Terrier also. FYI most manufactures recommend a run in peroid. I use 20-30 min both ways. But the important thing is Clean Track.
You know what your in need of now . Get your hands on the Mallard Pullman train set by Hornby . And your first experience with Hornby coaches from the uk that are common on our heritage railways and Mallard himself is still around at the museum in york . And is the fastest steam engine in the world . The set is well worth it . Oh and the Hornby controller is good but not the best in the world and finally the track is just like kato tracks except that it’s missing the grey ballast on the bottom That’s all you need to know . Bye 😄👍🏽
You can easily change the UK tension lock couplings to American style knuckle couplings. Just pull the tension lock one out of the NEM pocket and replace it with a KayDee coupling from your local model shop. The only problem you might have is that the coupling might not be the same height, but I think that you can get KayDees that have a step in them to compensate for the difference. Take a wagon with you when you go to your local model shop and they will help you find the correct fitting.
I have the very same two Kato track sets. I like the Hornby stuff, they also makes a line called Oxford that is less expensive, but seems to run just as well. I am really getting hooked on OO gauge. Keep up the vids. By the way, that was the actual size of British trains, much smaller than outs and they still use steam trains.
You can buy knuckle couplers that can replace the British style couplings so long as they have NEM pockets. I did that to my BR steam locomotive and pull American stock with it now.
That black stuff on the rail is from oxidation and if I remember correctly actually helps conductivity (you should still wipe dust and dirt off). Ron's Trains and Things put out a good video about track cleaning earlier this year.
I like how you make your trains move in your animations and I actually followed one of your builds maybe you can show us how to move the trains in Minecraft like a tutorial
Yup the terriers in OO (as per real life) are quite small compared to something even like a regular tank engine. OO is bigger than HO though as the terrier definitely wouldn’t be as big as an American loco of any scale

i like how it went from massive freight trains & locomotives to a small LB&SCR A1 locomotive.
6:11 Ladies and gentlemen, we caught him saying a cuss word! xD

Hello
@@csxohiorailfan2473 hi!
Wow, the official b&o channel commenting on a Minecraft UA-camr, don’t see that everyday
This is the only video of a model train that contains a steam locomotive on his channel. Please make more and gets some American locos
6:58 I think that shows how small the terriers are because 00 scale is larger than H0 (00 is 1 : 76 scale and HO is 1 : 87 scale)
bluebells forever!
Could of put a DPU at the end when it got stuck on the curve track
Can you unbox a pan am sd40-2 next
Britain rules again >:D You need Hornby's A4
I'm guessing that Merton is your first steam locomotive in HO/OO
my Kato n scale tracks also often get some weird green stuff on them to
I wonder why
Dust,oil, oxidation
@@drg-desperado4636 oh that explains it
Chooo choo
8:20 epic curve sceen looks like the unstoppable movie when 777 passes the curve
Normally not the biggest fan of British steam, but this locomotive looks quite nice! :)
You should damp a cloth in rubbing alcohol and clean you track

And he also got a class 37 also being from the uk so quite a few of them couplers would be needed 12 in total I do believe .
I have one too! I highly suggest you don’t pull as much as you did in the beginning. It’s definitely a bad idea
Did you can Purchase Flying Scotsman American tour Special Edition from Hornby ?
Wow!How a little cute🚂😊

Great little engines they are, don’t have one myself but good choice!
Hello there

3:43 That always happen ,just like real train ,these tracks need to be maintainance, you can use eraser to clean tracks easier
Cool train unboxing😁❤️🦊
Very epic
A classic 💯

No it hurts the conductivity
YES A STEAM LOCOMOTIVE FINALLY
This train is like stepny
Ayy you finally got a steamer!
Thats cool
As British and European collectors, I think you need to try a peckett or a Hatton’s P class
Ho and OO is the same gauge if I'm correct.
Very similar tracks and the locos and rollingstop are a bit different size
Same gauge, different scale, yes.
Bluebells Forever!
