Stepney is 148 today! To celebrate, here's a brand new custom model of the Bluebell Engine using Hornby's newer tooling Brighton Works. It's predominantly the 60's style as it appears in The Railway Series, with a few changes.
Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas if you celebrate that, and a Happy New Year too. Wishing you the best year you could ever imagine for 2024.

Very lovely model-can’t wait to see Stepney in videos! Also that viaduct looks incredible 👀
Merry Christmas, Max!
Thanks so much Caleb. You, Brendan, James and Lucas' showcase videos on your custom models were inspiring for making my own!
Merry Christmas. 🎄
"You know, Newport, Freshwater, Sutton, Waddon, Martello, Poplar, Fenchurch, and Knowle. but do you recall, the most famous terrier of all, Stepney the bluebell engine, wasn't very blue at all, and if you ever saw him, you could he's not very tall, all of the other engines, used to, laugh and call him names, the never let poor stepney, Join in any railway games. Then one crisp and cold night some people came to say, Stepney with your lamp so bright, won't you ride the rails tonight. then all the engines loved him, and the whistled out with glee, stepney the bluebell engine you'll go down in history. No mention of Boxhill?
@@joshslater2426 I tried to keep the song as close to the inspiration so i could only include 8 terriers, and the ones listed were the first ones to apaer
The face looks fabulous🎉
Amazing job, love Stepney’s colors, and lettering! Happy birthday Stepney!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY & MERRY X-MAS, STEPNEY THE BLUEBELL ENGINE!!!!!
Outstanding achievement 😃👍
Yay
it’s kinda sad how stepney no longer operates I wonder if he misses his friends on sodor?
Very Nice Work Max
And Happy Birthday Stepney!
´´so i dont want to throw at a wall´´ almost died of laughter there
Amazing work! This model looks absolutely amazing, and you did a great job customizing the model! You are also making me feel more confident to customize my own models, which is something I’ve always wanted to do, yet never have due to the higher prices these days.
Thank you. It's always good to practice!
He came out looking great, mate! Really nicely done!
Your Stepney OO model looks amazing! The Stepney name and 55 look so clean.
And Happy Birthday to the real Stepney the Bluebell Engine!
Wet nice work the pick issues my terriers were not as a pain it’s sometimes a luck if the draw keep turn up I’d say love on to O gauge terrier you can do it max I believe in you plus your garden needs a garden railway do it lad do it for Mr Stroudly
Thank you! You've been around on this channel through many varients of Stepney haha.
Maybe Your Next Ultimate Model Should Be The Australian Terrier 10 class Engine
I would not recommend the Dapol Terrier at all because it has multiple problems. For example, the price of the model is more expensive than Hornby's models, the Dapol Terrier's mechanism makes it run awful because of the type of motor it uses and the driving wheels can be gauged at the wrong width. The maximum gauge of the driving wheels fitted on the axles is supposed to 14.4 millimeters wide and the flanges' maximum gauge is 15.2 millimeters wide. I recommend watching Sam's Trains' review of the Dapol Terrier and The Unlucky Tugs video of how he made his realistic Thomas model Max.
this video annoys me because you've done a great job but I felt I could of helped you in some areas.
OCD summarised in a youtube video
Great looking model
Now for me to do similar perfectionist modifications to my Bahamas model 😂
Hornby released Stepney new tool at batch one
I have it my collection
Wow you put in a lot of effort I’m proud of you
Well happy birthday stepney!
And the model looks amazing!
He's so precious.
The smokebox door is separately fitted on the hornby terriers, I can’t really remember how I removed it on mine but it’s definitely possible
On the new tooling? I know the older ones were separate but can't see a seamline for the new one.
@@Terrier55Stepney sorry for the huge delay, but yeah on the new hornby tooling, I managed to do it on the terrier I was turning into a stepney before giving up and commissioning someone else for it. the smokebox door itself can come off, without the whole front of the smokebox coming off. I think there should be two pegs on the inside of the smokebox that are glued in, and if you can get the glue off it'll just come out.
Ayyy you did it!!
New layout soon
Stepney unlimited
Ok did I some how end up in a parallel universe a couple Christmas’s ago I have a modern up to date release of Stepney yet everyone seems to have forgotten it happened
Hornby released Stepney as built in A1 form, but this model is the A1x rebuild.
Love it
Nice work!
As preserved/light weathering is something I’ve really struggled with!
Hiiiii>ii
Amazing❤😊
Did someone finally give you the right decals to turn the Brighton Works Terrier into Stepney?
I think so...
I believe he could have gone to precision labels I've bought from them before and have current day preservation Fenchurch decals!
I was watching the video about your custom terriers not so long ago so this is much better
I have idea how to make Stepney better get a old terrier and put the new wheels on it to make it more reliable so there you go “max”
7:43 why not just swap the bodies for an older tooling
The wheels on the newer tooling are far more accurate and scaled better, and the two aren't compatible with each other.
Do a TV prop replica in 00 gauge using the stepney body on shapeways the one that fits the old dapol terrior chassis or the hornby ex dapol chassis but get the body done in metal so stepney will be the strongest tank engine ever
I can’t wait for Stepney’s 150th
I recently found a lucky find on ebay hornby club Brighton works terrier which i plan to turn into stepney model
Now that is a sight! Don’t get a Dapol one as those are about as reliable as a rock on model railways
The model looks lovely, Stepney is an amazing engine. :)
Your model looks amazing!
Happy birthday day Stephen!!!!!!
it still makes me happy that i share a birthday with stepney!
Happy birthday Stepney 🎂
Happy birthday Stepney!
It looks beautiful I really love it
Happy bday stepney! :]
Happy birthday Stepney.
Looks grand! When I took the Air Pump off my Stepney, I took a body down to B&Q and they mixed a pot of IEG. Its emulsion paint and wouldn't do for a whole model, but for a couple of small filled holes when given acrylic varnish, it was fine.
You can ask for paint to be mixed at B&Q?? Did they base it by eye from the model? This could be useful for future.
@@Terrier55StepneyB&Q have a scanner that can scan any colour. BBC’s Top Gear once did it with a hearing aid to get a colour they were going to paint on to a car*.
In fact, I went down to my local B&Q about a month ago, so I could get a sky blue mixed for use on a backdrop to a layout I was building. The bloke who mixed it said that if I ever needed a colour mixing, I can just pop down with a model and they mixed the colour I needed
*That can be seen in S19 E5
Great Model!
