- The animation video is created as a part of Fairconditioning Program. The program is designed to mitigate Airconditioning needs in India to reduce energy demands from our stressed infrastructure, to improve energy access for marginalized communities and to lower carbon emissions to combat climate change. The program is a grant-funded program co-created by an Indian Social Enterprise (cbalance.in) and a Swiss Non-Profit Organization (noe21.org) sectors. Currently, the program is funded by the Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation.
In this video, you will learn about Direct Evaporative Cooling and Indirect Evaporative Cooling and Indirect Direct Evaporative Cooling and their principles.

Enhanced cooling system, containing solar and photovoltaic panels as well:
1. take outside hot and humid air
2. dry it with dehumidifying brine (i.e., calcium-chloride) - this will increase the temperature of the air
3. cool it down to outside temperature by heat exchanging with exhausted outside humid air
4. humidify dry cooled air to cool it down further - now we have cool and humid outside air
5. take inside hot air and dry it with dehumidifying brine - this will increase the temperature of the air as well
6. cool it down by heat exchanging with cool and humid outside air that would become exhausted humid air
(inside and outside air should not mix)
7. humidify dry cooled inside air to cool it down further - now we have cool and humid air to return to the inside space
8. route the dehumidifying brine into the solar panel to heat it up and remove excess water from it
9. cool the brine using part od the outside hot and humid air
10. use photovoltaic panels to produce electricity to run fans and pumps
How you'll have a decent air conditioner using zero grid energy, but only when sun is shining (which is when cooling is mostly needed). For cooling during cloudy weather or night time electric or gas heating is required, which is less efficient than a heat pump (i.e. air conditioner).
How tonnage of an IDEC System is calculated when there is no compressor involved ??
Very informative! Thanks.
Explanation is so clear. Thanks a lot. Greets from İstanbul
Awesome sir, very good explanation
Thank you! Exactly what I needed to know!
extremely well narrated.. especially the animations! Thank you.
Great work and simple to understand. Thanks
Very nice explanation
Very simple to understand and great pace
👍👍👍
Awesome
why dont we use only indirect evaporative cooling by recirculating inside air? This way we can do sensible cooling with more than 95% efficiency and no humidity will be added to air.
great idea. Go ahead and prototype it, test the results, and share it with us at info@fairconditioning.org or vivek@cbalance.in. All the best!
I've been thinking about this for sometime. We used to use dec in lahore. The problem was humidity. The combined idec and dec provide a method of controlling humidity as well. I'm sure there must be a commercial product on the market...if not. I'll give this one a try. Its relatively easy sytem to implement i think.... Famous last words... Haha
It will keep adding humidity and temperature of the room will increase as the water vapours are warm...so you need to keep ventilating the air when using evaporative cooling
That is why there is no such product in the market
Educative
Thanks!
