- This is Trail2, Final trail of Day 1 of the 2023 Fall Back the Byway meet. The first couple of days are not organized rides, Saturday , D3 is the main event. We are doing Old Fincastle from the high water hazard up to the rock garden. Lots of rock garden action.

what road does this trail start from? can't find it on ONX
There are a few ways to get to it, most-go on Hell Creek (easy ride) the right after getting on pavement. You can start on pavement and avoid Hell Creek. On this day we came down Walker Creek and connected with Old Fincastle. Some of my older videos about Old Fincastle may have better maps embedded.

We ran punkin holler and spazz creek yesterday (11/18). Plan on doing this next time out in early winter.
Sounds great! We are in the area a couple times a month and we're hoping for a snow ride too!
I've been to the rock garden twice now. The first time we turned around because our lead vehicle couldn't make it without winching (4 runner on 33's). Got turtled on the big rock. Went back a few weeks ago, riding this time, and our two vehicles were able to get over the rock and up the hill. They both took the harder line over the rock. Can't wait to go back next year when my rig is ready! Thanks for your videos and narration!

That is one tough, but satisfying climb. Love the rock garden.
