it don’t end there mate, some dude who died in a hiking accident had literal minky momo cassette tapes with him, and a girl who was a fan of minky momo live streamed her self-game over, and guess why
This has as much infamy as that one song called Gloomy Sunday. There just something’s the human imagination created that just give off unusual circumstances.
Actually Takeshi Shudo who went on to become the head writer of Pokémon, intended to kill off Ash in the first ever movie as a finale but due to the sheer popularity of the anime, the ending was re-written at the last moment (you can even see how the writing must have been hastened when Ash turns into stone and Pikachu keeps shocking him and the hints of his death are there in the first ever Japanese teaser of the film) I read somewhere that he had depression and anxiety which made him have a bad outlook towards life and he intended to portray how Ash have to move on from his "childhood" dream because they are mostly unachievable. But thankfully the writing team eventually took a different narrative after his departure and Ash is now a world champion!
@@YES-lf6io I can understand why the main comment prefer the Ash we have now, but personally I'd rather see Shudo's version of Ash as well as his anime. In my opinion (which doesn't mean crap, lol) I would've liked this kind of outcome. I mean the anime is good but I can't enjoy it since it's not appealing for me when I reached to Hoenn. Shudo's vision of the anime would've brought on a more serious tone meant for a mature audience, while still remaining a kid show. Buuuuut, considering we have older fans out there, an adult oriented show (or a work) wouldn't hurt a lot. Take a look to Festival of Champions. I would like to see what the show would have became if it went this path. Well not if they went through the same path, but rather inspired. Let's be for real, I understand that the Ash's journey and its message is clear: he never gave up on his dream and he kept trying and trying again. But living in a country where your dream to become a... let's say a great lawyer, seems impossible considering the country's plethora of issues, combined by personal struggles... then yeah I'm not sure how can we relate a kid who went through "easy mode" while we're in "hardcore mode". Technically, the sad truth is that not all dreams are achievable, to the point of moving on from that dream. Keep in mind that the Pokémon world and the real-life world are NOT the same. Honestly, if you think about it, by the time Pokémon aired, in Japan, the 90s were a period of great socioeconomic uncertainty due to the collapse of the economic bubble at the beginning of the decade. This had a profound impact on Japanese families, with parents working long and long hours and an increase in the emotional distance between parents and children. Many children grew up without a father figure present at home, a theme clearly reflected in Ash, whose story is marked by the absence of his father, as seen in Shudo's drafts. In that essence, Ash was not just an “everyday kid”; in Shudo’s vision, he represented a generation of Japanese children growing up in a world filled with expectations, pressure, and social change. That includes flawed humanity, his complicated relationship with his environment, and his search for purpose mirrored the struggles many young people faced in Japan. After all, if there are happy people in anime, that's because in Japan... THERE ARE NONE. If there are super diverse and colorful personalities in anime, that's because in Japan THERE ARE NONE. When it comes to discussing Shudo, most Pokefans (like the main comment or prolly not lol) are missing the forest. Yes, he was an "alcoholic" or a "drug addict". Even if that did negatively affect his life, that doesn't matter in the end (take look at Stephen King and his past with Cujo). Yeah, his ideas are either bad or strange for a Pokefan today's standards. But he also had a lot of great ideas. Reminder that ideas are just that: ideas; you may or may not end up using them in the end. The most important idea that Shudo REALLY wanted implemented (and got cockblocked, cough cough Kubo cough cough), was Ash realistically growing up, winning sooner, departing, and getting replaced by a new protagonist. YOU KNOW, LIKE THE GAMES AND THE POKESPE MANGA. And no, he didn't want to kill off Ash, but retire him, so plz check the source and the comment. In conclusion, while I agree that the Ash we have nowadays is good for the appealing audience, it's not comparable to what Shudo envisioned. A truly human Ash, with realistic flaws, growth, and challenges, would have been a much more powerful representation of the human experience, even in a "kid-friendly" franchise. And trust me, if we went that way and by the time he became Champion that would make it earned rather than granted (can't think of another word). And thus, the message of "never give up" would've been apply to a mature audience. And yes, as adults dealing with the real issues of life, the eternal 10-year-old Ash can feel almost... bruh. 😬 I'm not saying that the World Championship is bad (maybe), I just simply wished we could've seen more real stakes way way long ago. I know it's unlikely considering Ash left the anime but it would be a nice extra bonus, since I am tired of watching Team Rocket blast off for 25 years... TL;DR: Just read Festival of Champions you fatherless piece of sh---

Sir you have no idea how happy you've made me. Im 3yrs behind, but I have dug deep into my childhood memories to try and find this anime. My mom bought me one single VHS of this show somehow in like 2002 or so and i never ever could remember the name. Im almost 28yrs old and have searched for well over 15yrs for this show. I never could remember the plot or anything so IMDB'ing was impossible. Ofc Sailormoon and Sakura cardcaptor kept popping up and I was always like "NO DUDE...THIS IS A CHEAPER... OLDER VERSION!!" lol EDIT: I live in the U.S so i really have no idea how she got this tape lol
I am also 28 and in the US. Harmony Gold's Magical Princess Gigi and the Fountain of Youth was in the free kids movies at my local Family Video. I rented it almost every time I went. Maybe that's where she got it?

"Could you imagine if they ended Pokemon this way?" Yes, I can, because the same Takeshi Shudo was behind the show in its early seasons, and he was even thinking about ending it like something between The Birds and Planet of the Apes (the question is if Tajiri and other people in the production team would allow it). And maybe even ending it like Minky Momo would be better than how it really went after 1999 (let the main character hop from island to island never becoming the master, and kicking all the other main characters out).
@@TheBonkleFoxBut now only the Pokémon anime "nerds", not even Pokémon fans in general, do care. Back in the day the Pokémon snime was a mainstream phenomenon

I was six when I watched that show. I was in love with her. I remember every time I got to choose what to draw, I would draw her. It was awfull when she died, I cound't understand. Then she came back, but it wasn't her, it was something like "this would have happened if she would have lived, but don't forget she's dead". I had many nightmares about it. I don't remember when I stopped drawing her. Many years later I remembered Gigi again, and I ask my friends if they knew her, but nobody knew who she was. And I repeated: the girl with pink hair, who transformed into profesional growned women, and died hit by a truck. I tought I was crazy. Until I discovered my 1° Grade school notebook at my grandma's attic and effectively, it had drawn Gigis all over it. So she was real. When Internet became a thing Gigi was one of the first things that I looked for. 0 results the first times. Years later I found out her original name was Minky Momo, and could download a couple of pictures. And after that more information become available. Thanks for explaining why the hell I lived traumatized all my childhood. I don't know if I feel better now, hahaha.
Well in my country she was called Hanin. I was 5 years old at the time and I used to watch this show regularly. I was so in love with her character and I would imagine myself going on those adventures with her. I spent a whole week crying when she died...
That's one way to get back at a toy company. "Hey you remember that cute magical girl you decided to abandon? Well she's dead now. She's dead and it's all your fault."
It really seems like a Dick move lol... i mean, dont even consider all the fans, all the children... just how they feel about their paycheck which should have been a legal isssue, not a reason to make a whole generation of kids cry.
I REALLY miss this entire era of Japanese animation, there were just SO MANY GREAT and crazy shows that came out of the 80s and even the 90s. They had a style both in story and animation that you just don't see anymore. I really wish they'd bring it back.

I remember this being one of my favourite shows as a kid over 25 years ago. She's called "Haneen" in Arabic, which is a real Arabian name. I still listen to their opening every few years. Such golden days.
Minky Momo is legendary here in Latin America because the horrific "ending" that traumatized an entire generation of small tv viewers. Here it was called "Las Aventuras de Gigi" and because of never explained reasons, the last season of the show was never dubbed in spanish, so the "run over by a truck" IS the last episode of the series! That's right, for all the little latinos viewers, the final fate of cute Gigi/Minky Momo was dead by a truck! Only decades later, by the dawn of the Internet era, many grown up latinos viewers finally they got to know there was one extra season of never dubbed episodes of the original series and that their beloved magical girl was actually alive and well. You can read the comments section of any latino spanish dubbed videos of "Gigi" on UA-cam and it looks like a PTSD therapy group, still reeling from the shocking "finale" and needing a hug.
@@xrinxdarkx7493 yeah but we didn't knew about that years later. What we saw in the anime original run was "she is hit by a truck"...and that was the end of this series and it was replaced by another different anime soon after. The "reincarnation" season was never dubbed in latino spanish.
Lmfao my cousin told me about that and she said that after she was traumatized by Gigi getting hit by the truck, her mother would say that she would get run over like Gigi if she didn't stop crying or something.
Fun fact: "Momo" is one way to say "Pink" (among other things) in japanese, so its possible for Minky Momo's name to be translated as "Minky Pinky" and im gonna refer to her as such from now on
@@morganolsen432 Yes, momo means peach. And in Japanese culture the color of a peach is equivalent to what many western cultures considere pink. That is why the word for pink is momo-iro.
@@Japanthewoman Yes, I know. Thank you for clarifying that. Still peach colored is different than Pink colored. I basically was getting at if her name is Momo I'm pretty sure it pointing to her name meaning peach rather than pink.
I think even TFS got that. Piccolo saying "My cocaine!" in the 2.9 joke garlic jr saga moment and saying he was on cocaine instead of the black water mist sounded accurate to harmony gold's bizzare totally lost anime and existence of whatever they were aiming to do then.
I remember watching the last episode as a really young kid. It didn't traumatize me or anything. It was just my second earliest "SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FOCK IS HAPPENING" moment in my life. The first one was when my uncle died in a traffic accident and I saw his corpse in my grandpa's house but that's totally unrelated.
@@lilithcrawler-mj3xr yea I meant like, kinda funeral in my grandpa's house but it's more up close. It's different from western type of funerals. I was like, "Why people surrounds him? Why my mom and my grandma's crying? My uncle is just sleeping, right?" Then I saw him getting lowered in his grave. "Wait what he's... WHAT? WHY? WHAT THE FOCK IS HAPPENING!? UNCLE YOU GOTTA WAKE UP THEY TRYNA BURY YOU ALIVE!!" Took me a day to figured out he was not buried alive.
It’s like those old japanese stories where someone died and all their nagative emotions got sealed in a sword or building, except the negative emotion was so powerful that Minky Momo entering the airwaves created a natural disaster.
The funny thing about this is that the head writer on the show, Takeshi Shudo, eventually got to be the head writer of Pokémon up until mid-to-late Johto. Had Pokémon not been the cash cow that it is today, he might have killed Ash Ketchum in the same manner. EDIT: After two years of this comment being up, I'd like to mention that he said that Ash couldn't become the Pokémon master because the show would end. And it made me think of an ending for Pokémon where Ash dies after winning the Alola League Tournament: While running out of the stadium, Ash doesn't look where he's going and gets hit by Truck-kun. Every companion he's ever had, every rival he's been on good terms with, the one-offs that reappeared in specials, and even the Team Rocket trio visits his hospital bed. Pikachu goes through a depressive episode and offers himself up to be taken by Team Rocket, but they decline because it just doesn't feel earned. No plot contrivance, no legendary Pokémon comes in to save the day, we just get to witness Ash's life flash before his eyes as he dies happily, his life fulfilled. That would've been my ideal finale, a real tear-jerker.
The ONLY reason ive ever heard of Minky Momo was through an episode of My Life as a Teenage Robot where in the beginning of the episode ( I think its the one where Jenny goes to kindergarten), he starts singing the "Minky Momo song". Pretty sure the song in that episode is completely made up, but the song definitely did get stuck in my head
A man named Kenji Iwamura got lost and died in a mountain while hiking. A tape recorder was found with 2 tapes. 1 being his cry for help and the other was a soundtrack from this anime. Unlucky.
So, fun fact pertaining to Takeshi Shudo also being head writer of the Pokemon anime for a while: According to iMDB, "While working as head writer of Pokemon (1997), Shudo had envisioned an ending to the animated series where the Pokémon would rebel against their trainers, with Pikachu as the lead and Meowth as the mouthpiece." So he really was gonna try to traumatize another generation of kids lol
@@kennylauderdale_en After much research, I think I figured out why Amazon axed the Minky Momo dub before anyone noticed. Someone at the company probably heard of the curse of Minky Momo and realized that if a large enough group of ppl started to livestream the truck kun moment at the exact same time, which is pretty easy considering it's Amazon Prime Video, the energy of Minky Momo would reawaken once more and, like a bolt of lightning, escape Japan, cross the Pacific, and cause the Yellowstone Supervolcano to erupt.
Harmony Gold's version of Minky Momo might still be lost media, but Crunchyroll just uploaded the subbed Japanese version today. Just saw the first episode. I'm in South America, so I'm not 100% sure it's available in NorthAmerica, but it should be. Will finaly get to experience the curse first hand! And yes, everybody here knows her as Gigi. Imagining Minky Momo's energy materialize into the real world causing natural disasters is scarier than Nora's constant frame skips and the Laughing Salesman's smile. Good luck Minky Momo.
From what I had read, early Laughing Salesman deals were the sort of thing where... well, they were bait to catch types who thought they found a loophole...
Don't forget the case of the mystery SOS in Japan. A hiker got lost, and was only found because of a large SOS on the ground near them that they didn't make. Then further investigation found the five year missing remains of another hiker who was partially identified from the cassettes with Minky Momo and Macross music they had in their stuff. And THAT person didn't have the means to make the SOS either.

@@nowheredude4204 Funny I kind of thought that part of the miki momo curse was part of the episode’s plot. After brad sang the theme song and had a talk with Jenny. Jenny gets shipped off to kindergarten due to a misunderstanding. But that’s just my theory.
how the hell did momo, a show who was just made for children entertainment, turn into a literal cursed urban legend edit: this comment is getting sm attention 😭 i worded this wrongly but i was trying to say how it was very funny to see a harmless child show become a cursed urban legend ,, i know where most urban legends come from i promise 😭
because the people funding team of minky momo stopped funding even tho the show was going great, which made the team mad because merchandise wasnt selling well, so the team wanted to grab the funders' attention in special way because the team new that the funders dont care about which way the story goes, unless something "interesting " occurs to their loss. The team, therefore, killed mikymomo and in coincidence, an eathquake came, coincidently showing minky momo's dark powers (ofcourse it aint true, but look how big of coincident this is)

This urban legend is like literal indonesia urban legend. Almost all of them are real, and some are coincidence. Theres 1 urban legend where they said to not wondering all alone when its 6pm or 2-3 am (witchering hours). Some of people experienced this thing where they saw ghost, etc. Its reminding me of my grandfather. He was hunting Bats in forest (for eat and sell to market if im not wrong). About midnight.. when he want to go home. He was lost. Trust me, he was a pretty keen vision that time when he was young, but everytime he follow the right path.. then Bam, he came back to his normal position where he started to go back home. Its about a 2 or 3pm (i guess... he said it was a mignight to morning time) he saw his friend.. just came back from mosque. Its a good thing his friend got a candle and they can walk back home safely (my grandfather have flashlight.. but yeah, even with flashlight, he cant go home. Even when he followed the right paths). Im open to any question btw. Just to make sure you to dont have any curiosity.
Minky from the term "mink" as is a mink fur coat, they're referring to how Momo's hair is "fluffy" like a mink coat, and Momo means "peach" , there is a type of Asian peach that are light pink in color. So the character's name is basically another way of saying she's like a "Fluffy Peach" Minky from "mink" a type of warm fuzzy cute animal/or it's fluffly fur, and sounds like "pink", and "Micky (Mouse)" pink+mink+micky = Minky
4:05 it's a bit ironic that you said that if they would have ended Pokemon this way, fans would have rioted. Takeshi Shudo, the writer for both Minky Momo and the Pokemon anime was originally planning to end on a darker note with the Pokemon rebelling against their trainers.
peepee poopoo right? I mean, most of those Pokémon are cohabitating like it’s no big deal. I wouldn’t have mind seeing the show end in a not happy way. Now, its just dragging on. Ash Ketchum should have achieved his dream by now?! Or he’s a freaking professional ten year old student. With no worries. Wtf man. I mean after Ed and Alaric completed their mission. They moved on. Ash is forever stuck as a 10 year old. He’s never gonna get a girlfriend, settle down, and do other stuff. He’s just forever stuck as a ten year old boy.. Why?!
I walked into my house and found my sister watching Minky Momo. I snorted mockingly and at that exact moment my mother tripped in the kitchen and almost shanked herself with the knife she was cooking with..... I never disrespected Mistress Momo again.
Momo looks a little like Madoka Kaname, whose anime became associated with the most powerful earthquake in Japanese history; the 2011 Tohoku quake, which struck the day after possibly the highest-rated episode of the show first aired. Maybe it was also a victim of the Momo Curse, due to the protags' resemblence?
Maybe because the features and proposals were more original back in these days, I mean, they weren't generic as nowadays's animes (not all of them, of course).
My favorites are studio Pierrot's Mahou shoujo series in the 80's, specially Persia the Magical Fairy, I have very dear childhood memories attached to this anime and Candy Candy, with my mom Also Sailor Moon's aesthetic is goals

"can you imagine pokemon ended this way?" well, considering Takeshi Shudo was the main writer for the Kanto (first) act of the Pokémon anime, it *could* have happened
It fucks me up in a big way to know that that was the same guy. I've always been obsessed with early pokemon--the original had so much soul and wit that the newer seasons lack. You have to wonder how Takeshi Shudo felt, considering how pokemon is a classic example of Anime As Marketing. I hope he knew that he made more than just toys, and that we're still celebrating the things he worked on. I know I'm rambling, but god I'm so weak against this creepypasta shit.
you should see his original drafts of the anime... like Ash's mom being a single mom because Ash's dad left her to be a Pokemon trainer (deadbeat father) and Ash's mom giving birth to him as a teenager. I'm not even making any of that up, he wrote a book about his original drafts for the anime that he couldn't do because it was a bit too dark for Pokemon.
What creeps me out is that I have no memory of ever seeing anything about this show (and being from the states that's understandable) yet I knew who she was and her name Minky Momo as if she's just always been there in my memories... Good luck Minky Momo..

There's a very easy way to tell the 2 Momo apart, the original (called sky Momo) has the star hairpin, while the sequel (called sea Momo) has the heart hairpin I don't get Shudo's mindset, was he trying to guilt trip the toy company, who probably thought: What do I care if you choose to kill off your own main character, it's no sweat off our backs.

Well, the rumor was the toy weren't exactly doing that bad. The staves (which advert is shown here) had some problem yeah, but other goods were doing fine, especially the figurines, actually. The toy producer did some market research and found that the ones who bought the figurines were not children or parents, but single adult males. Sexualizing anime chars & figurines was already a "well-known" secret in Japan at the time, but the public stigma against pedophilia were at an all-time high in Japan. And Momo-Mami at the time could be seen as a kid-like adult-oriented mahou shoujo. (Evident from how their respective transformation scenes involve showing the body lines transforming from girl to woman, and some skin. Not something a kid is supposed to watch lol.) So you see where this is going. Somebody prob thought what they were doing was morally right (or could be he got pressured by other factors, too, which we won't ever find out), and that the whole fiasco caused a collapse in the project committee's financial structure. That caused an early forced cut to all products of the franchise, including anime. The other half of the rumor talked about the toy producer withholding the return money for cancellation of contract. That's what led to the animal friend kidnapping episode. (The part where Momo lost her power and then got it back was always planned, if I recall right. Shudo did an interview once, tho I forgot where did I read it.) Not much on that beyond this, tho. I'd like to believe that they prob resolved the issue behind closed doors. One can argue that Momo might not bring the dark element of a witch into Japanese anime, but it polarized it into something that later on became what we know today regarding mahou shoujo genre of anime. It also settled some of the tropes that, up til now we still see in new mahou shoujo anime, or even non-mahou shoujo. Example: this whole idea of a pink-haired dominant main protagonist girl.
@@lakia-chan it probably works both ways. Pedophilia is an issue of every society since ages ago, long bfr the idea of pedophilia itself was considered taboo. Then the otaku exists. They did many socially-deviant things, along with their seemingly anti-social attitude. Then pedophilia got included in that as time progressed, making the two terms even more notorious and making society correlate the two previously unrelated things. ps.: The two things are unrelated, tho. Figured I need to say that bfr anyone assume otaku = sexualizing depiction of underage girls.
@Grande Leonardo and I'm trying to clear that misunderstanding. bcs the term otaku itself is not specific to the moe culture. A game addict is referred as an otaku there. A military addict is referred as otaku, there. It's a very general term which uses only implies insult (bcs it refers to one's inability to cope with Japanese closed society.) As such, I need to at least make my dues bcs the original post was mine and, same as people here, I think what happened with Momo anime cancellation was dumb.
The only reason I know this anime is bc of the song Rurus Suicide Show on a Livestream, where it talks about Roro, a girl from Japan, who committed suicide by jumping off a building. I remember this one cartoon called "My Life As A Teenage Robot" referenced Minky Momo, but as a song that was considered annoying in that cartoon's universe.
The two momos have different color hair. Idk if everyone else can see it, but classic has a redder hair color, new one has a bubble gum pink hue. It’s a subtle difference, and not everyone can see color that clearly. They should have made the colors more accentuated.
soon as you said that Takeshi Shudo had a hand in this series, the darker themes made a lot more sense. the man was certainly troubled but he loved his work, he loved to write and was pretty open about how his writings were usually done during days long drug binges (alcohol and stimulants) his work later on, on pokemon, was done in the same way. he fought to have Ash killed off (or at the very least, age out) so different protagonists could be used and new themes explored. but his bosses, knowing they had a gold mine on their hands, told Shudo that they fully intended to have Ash basically live forever. if I recall correctly, his last project, which was unfortunately never finished due to his passing, was a pokemon story about a threat so great that all of mankind and pokemon alike would have to come together or face a horrible destruction. one of the main things that seemingly sent Shudo over the edge and towards his end was the treatment of the only pokemon he ever created, Lugia. Shudo's story is fascinating and heartbreaking all at the same time. he lived to write. to create worlds and characters that were both fantastical yet realistic. the world has never been, nor will it ever be, all sunshine and rainbows. there's death and devastation. the good guys don't always win. pain and suffering are just as much a part of life as anything else. his works held onto this truth. he wasn't going to hold your hand and take you into a world where everything and everyone in it is bright and happy because that kind of world isn't truly believable. sorry for the tangent, Shudo's story has always struck a cord with me and I can't help but try to share it when I have a chance ^^;
CrunchyRoll just added this to their lineup and I had to make sure you were notified because upon seeing the title, I had flashbacks to seeing your video. XD

Reboot/remake sequel series start in isekai?
Actually Takeshi Shudo who went on to become the head writer of Pokémon, intended to kill off Ash in the first ever movie as a finale but due to the sheer popularity of the anime, the ending was re-written at the last moment (you can even see how the writing must have been hastened when Ash turns into stone and Pikachu keeps shocking him and the hints of his death are there in the first ever Japanese teaser of the film)
I read somewhere that he had depression and anxiety which made him have a bad outlook towards life and he intended to portray how Ash have to move on from his "childhood" dream because they are mostly unachievable.
But thankfully the writing team eventually took a different narrative after his departure and Ash is now a world champion!
But at what cost?

@@YES-lf6io fr tho
and now im sad
not bc Ash left the anime but because he couldn't hump Sere--
And he became the very best
Like no one ever was
@@YES-lf6io I can understand why the main comment prefer the Ash we have now, but personally I'd rather see Shudo's version of Ash as well as his anime.
And yes, as adults dealing with the real issues of life, the eternal 10-year-old Ash can feel almost... bruh. 😬
I'm not saying that the World Championship is bad (maybe), I just simply wished we could've seen more real stakes way way long ago. I know it's unlikely considering Ash left the anime but it would be a nice extra bonus, since I am tired of watching Team Rocket blast off for 25 years...

And it made me think of an ending for Pokémon where Ash dies after winning the Alola League Tournament:
While running out of the stadium, Ash doesn't look where he's going and gets hit by Truck-kun.
Javier Rico pretty sure ash is already trapped in the dream world of minky momo, giving him the curse of immortal and always chased by bad guys.
Then the series gets rebooted years later, as an isekai featuring anime girl versions of Pokemon.

because the people funding team of minky momo stopped funding even tho the show was going great, which made the team mad because merchandise wasnt selling well, so the team wanted to grab the funders' attention in special way because the team new that the funders dont care about which way the story goes, unless something "interesting " occurs to their loss. The team, therefore, killed mikymomo and in coincidence, an eathquake came, coincidently showing minky momo's dark powers (ofcourse it aint true, but look how big of coincident this is)
@amateur bobomb ik rorochan's case, but by kenji do you mean the guy who lost his way to motel on some hill and had sos message on tape? who got lost due to a boulder used to guide ways and looks exactly same which caused misunderstanding

So the character's name is basically another way of saying she's like a "Fluffy Peach"
Minky from "mink" a type of warm fuzzy cute animal/or it's fluffly fur, and sounds like "pink", and "Micky (Mouse)" pink+mink+micky = Minky

it's a bit ironic that you said that if they would have ended Pokemon this way, fans would have rioted. Takeshi Shudo, the writer for both Minky Momo and the Pokemon anime was originally planning to end on a darker note with the Pokemon rebelling against their trainers.

well, considering Takeshi Shudo was the main writer for the Kanto (first) act of the Pokémon anime, it *could* have happened
It kinda did with that gengar episode.

Not something a kid is supposed to watch lol.)
So you see where this is going.
@Grande Leonardo Again what????.
Wait what?!?!?!.
is it safe to say that the whole issue of sexualising underage anime characters is the reason why otakus are generally disliked in japan?
She was known for running across busy streets, jumping from high buildings to other high buildings, and her livestreams full of comments telling her to off herself.

soon as you said that Takeshi Shudo had a hand in this series, the darker themes made a lot more sense. the man was certainly troubled but he loved his work, he loved to write and was pretty open about how his writings were usually done during days long drug binges (alcohol and stimulants) his work later on, on pokemon, was done in the same way. he fought to have Ash killed off (or at the very least, age out) so different protagonists could be used and new themes explored. but his bosses, knowing they had a gold mine on their hands, told Shudo that they fully intended to have Ash basically live forever. if I recall correctly, his last project, which was unfortunately never finished due to his passing, was a pokemon story about a threat so great that all of mankind and pokemon alike would have to come together or face a horrible destruction. one of the main things that seemingly sent Shudo over the edge and towards his end was the treatment of the only pokemon he ever created, Lugia. Shudo's story is fascinating and heartbreaking all at the same time. he lived to write. to create worlds and characters that were both fantastical yet realistic. the world has never been, nor will it ever be, all sunshine and rainbows. there's death and devastation. the good guys don't always win. pain and suffering are just as much a part of life as anything else. his works held onto this truth. he wasn't going to hold your hand and take you into a world where everything and everyone in it is bright and happy because that kind of world isn't truly believable. sorry for the tangent, Shudo's story has always struck a cord with me and I can't help but try to share it when I have a chance ^^;
