R.I.P Ann Waychoff mother of the Nightwish Army.
    June 28th, 2020 .
Ann was a big Nightwish Fan.
And every new person who listened to NW, she went through a little chat.
And gave them some info about NW.
    This was her favorite song.
And this song belongs to her.
I like very much that Gabriel have continue Ann s work.... so her heritage is still here.

    Hello
I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here.
She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have 2 daughters (Freja & Lucy)
Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 3 octaves (C3 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish.
Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she cool singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.
    Greetings from the Netherlands.
Floor Jansen with real Opera watch.

Floor graduated from the then new Rock Academy in Tilburg, The Netherlands, in 2003 while performing with her first band 'After Forever' (she started with them at the age of 16 in 1997). Shortly after she attended 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year opera and 1 year Music Theatre). She considers herself a musical nerd. She always is looking to fill her already overflowing musical toolbox.

Nice that you also did the poem (LOVE) after the song. R.I.P. Dear Ann Waychoff June 28th 2020. This song is dedicated to her, because she loved this song so much. We will always remember you

Thanks for sharing your reaction to the full album version of a song about recognizing the beauty of life, the importance of love, and the need for empathy and understanding in order to create a better world. The song follows the narrator's journey of self-discovery, observing the world around and questioning society's norms and values. The narrator meets a number of unique characters and situations which illustrates to the listener that there is a beauty in even the most painful and difficult experiences. In order to truly live and appreciate life, we must be willing to embrace all its varied forms. The song ultimately affirms that true harmony and peace can only be found by accepting and affirming those around us - regardless of beliefs, background or any other distinction - in order to create a more peaceful world for all.
P.S. R.I.P. Ann Waychoff, "the Nightwish grandmother", whose favorite song this was.
P.S.S. Floor is not classically trained in the strict sense, but she studied both musical theater & opera each for a year part time. She quit because she found classical singing too limited in expression as she wanted to experiment with her vocals freely.

Yes, she is classically trained, but she's also been singing in metal bands since 1997. She was 16 at the time. So even though she was new to Nightwish, at this concert you're also hearing 16 years of experience. I saw her in 2000 with her first band After Forever and she was already amazing at that time. So it's talent, and training, and experience. In my opinion she is one of the greatest singers of this time.

Hi Jen, you have stumbled on to the extended version of the song that not many reactors get to listen to. It just shows what a genius poet Tuomas Holopainen is. It always brings a lump to my throat and tears are never fat away.

This song is performed on the album with the poem at the end. It is projected on the screen during this live concert but this version was created by a fan adding the poem later.

This song is a tribute to the poem in 52 chapters, One for every week of the year, " Song of myself " by Walt Whitman 1819-1892.(one of the co-founders of US poetry). The 7th line of the song is ""Of mermaids, of Whitman's and the Ride""". The extended official studio version of this song has, at the end, a poem as a tribute to Whitman made by Tuomas, the keyboard player and the mastermind of nightwish. These lines you can also see fast flahing on the ledscreen of the video you just saw.

R.I.P. Ann Waychoff. The god mother of the YT Nightwish reactors. 💔💔💔
This was her favorite song ❤️
Glad you let it play out 👌🏻👌🏻
Need to be extra careful playing music on a live stream. If there any copyright issues YT will bump your stream mid song. Just for your information.

Floor can and does sing any time of music, She can do Opera, Pop, Rock and my personal favorite Metal. I started listening to Nightwish when Anette Olzen became the female vocalist and really liked her singing over Tarja`s. I must admit that when Anette left I was a bit angry but Floor made me feel like an idiot for thinking that, she is in my opinion the best vocalist in the world. I am obsessed with Nightwish and watch at least one of their concerts every Saturday night. New album out next Friday just sad there will not be another tour for a while . but Floor is doing her own concerts that I can watch.

Floor has a bit of classical training but not as much as you might think. She did a year of musical theatre and opera during her studies but that;s about it. She has said that she doesn't actually like opera all that much - she is very much a metalhead. That said, she has worked extraordinarily hard on adding as many strings to her bow as she can. She quite happily describes herself as a vocal nerd.

This song is inspired by Walt Whitman 's Poem of the same name. The poetry at the end is not spoken in live versions but the words do appear on the screen behind them. The poetry is not from Walt Whitman's words but written in Walt Whitman's style.

The words of the Poem are displayed on the background screen during the song runing... it is contained on the studio version CD, this is fan made montage of the live song and album poem (part "Love")...
Thanks much for this extended version. Just as an example that world is full of weird random things, my own mother died just several hours after Ann... making that date double special for me.

Hi Jenn. The poem was included on the end of the studio version of the song, which was sung by the second singer Annette Olzon (Floor's predecessor). Someon added it to the video of this live recording but it wasn't performed at the concert aside from words on the screen. The poem was written by Tuomas Holopainen (the keyboardist and composer of most of their music, including this song). I think various bandmembers and friends narrate it. I'm not sure who, but I think I recognise Troy Donockley's voice (the guy with the northern English accent, but I might be wrong). Nice if it was, as he didn't actually play in this song. He wasn't an official band member when it was composed but he was around as a session player back in the Annette days and joined officially at the same time as Floor Janssen.

You 're correct about Troy's voice, I also recognise Tuomas's "Careless realism costs souls"

Singing live and singing well is very common in metal. It is not something that pop stars are very capable of doing, hence the numerous debates as to whether the current crop of pop singers are singing on stage (or in the studio even) without some form of electronic assistance. The metal singers are Premier League and the poppies 2nd Division.

This one is inspired by a Walt Whitman composition of the same name from 1858. The poem was from the studio version. Not appropriate for a live show.

This is a really great composer perspective into this song. I would love to see you react to more videos from other composers.
There is an interesting composer from Serbia, I think he has a very unique approach and is worth checking out - his name is David Maxim Micic - check out his Fading Memories composition here
