    have owned my # matching '70 SS since 1989. It was identical, Green, white and white.Had I thought it had the potential to look that good I would have repainted it Green rather then Red white and white. As far as i know, there is only one other R/w/w '70 running around Detroit area, which is why I like the white stripes and interior. U have a really nice ride!

    I often wondered what a 70 Chevelle would look like if it was like a 2nd gen Camaro with a split bumper. I think it has a possibility of looking badass.

    The passenger side is fine but the driver side is certainly tight. I have 1 7/8" Doug's headers and the steering shaft at one point was touching the primary tube (as evidenced by a rub mark on the shaft.) That being said, it is nothing extreme or overly difficult to compensate for. I'm not sure about 2"+ primary tubes although I know a few guys that run them. I would imagine anything bigger would require a dimple in the pipe.

    • @EricDFleming
      @EricDFleming  7 років тому +1

      RANDY TURNER I know the tears were 15x10 with a 5.5" backspace. I don't remember the front but believe they were standard 15x7. This was quite a while ago and things have since been changed. The exhaust was Magnaflow with an x pipe. Don't remember which headers were on the car when this was shot, either Dougs or the updated Lemon's.

    Brother! im a big fan of your car I literally stalk your wheel specs online lol. Im about to pull the trigger but I am confused on this setup. So from what i can gather for sure the rear is 15x10 5.5 back space on a 295/50-15 got it. Now the fronts...are they 15x7 with 4 inch backspace or 15x8s with 4.5 ...are you running 245/60-15s or 235/60-15s I have read you give these different replies just want to be 100% to yours. Thanks!

      Most camera's do not have great microphones. So they don't do it justice. Also, Flowmaster's have NOT done well, in every muffler comparison/test, I've seen. Even Dynomax super turbo's were better.

    Is it pretty streetable with that much hp?

    • @EricDFleming
      @EricDFleming  10 років тому

      With 295/55-15 MT ET Street Radials it puts all 580hp (est. 700 crank) to the ground. With a normal street tire it would just be a smoke show. Streetable just depends on how much self control you have over your right foot but it drives just fine in traffic, around town, etc.

    • @brgable
      @brgable 9 років тому

      Eric Fleming I'd like to see a dyno sheet showing 580 to the tires with that size cam and it being hydraulic. I've seen a 509 with AFR 315 CNC head motor with a solid comp roller spec'd at .666 lift and .260 @ .050 duration make 740hp at the flywheel doubt those are realistic numbers on a hydraulic cam 496...?

    • @EricDFleming
      @EricDFleming  9 років тому

      brgable And I've seen a 468 with aluminum Brodix heads only make 365hp....
      BUT because you doubt these are realistic numbers, here is the only dyno sheet I can find at the moment. You are right and caught me in a lie, it doesn't make 580 to the tires, it only makes 575hp and 580tq.
      Not sure exactly how you expect me to post a photo in youtube, but here is a link you can copy and paste.
      i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/efleming_23/Miscellaneous%20Pictures/575hp-580tq-STD5smoothing1-18-2014.jpg

    • @brgable1976
      @brgable1976 9 років тому

      Those are very good numbers and I'm willing to bet it'll make 580/580 at the flywheel every day and twice on Sunday!! However, saying it makes that to the wheels when you have a dual plane intake and A/C compressor I mean seriously come on if that made those number to the tires it's at least losing 25% from the flywheel. That's like conservatively putting it at 775+ flywheel...

    • @EricDFleming
      @EricDFleming  9 років тому +3

      ***** Always someone on the internet who knows it all. What can I say, it has been confirmed on multiple dynos. Build a motor with matched components and not just order shit out of a Jegs catalog. I'm not the only one who has a 496 making this kind of power. Straub, Foxwell, Mark Jones.... they are all building motors with this kind of power.
      Also, I'm not "saying" it makes that kind of power, I am proving it with a chassis dyno printout. However, to clarify points you made, it now has a port-match Vic. Jr and sequential fuel injection with a T56 Magnum, but yes, it still has A/C.

      +gencoupegirl I never really set this car up to drag race. It did go 11.15 @123 or 124 (can't remember, 120 something) with a 1.65 60'. The lock-up converter was a compromise for good street manners but not loose enough to really get the car moving very fast. It now has a 6-speed T56 Magnum and is significantly slower with me driving. On the dyno the car made 593hp and roughly the same torque.
