Disclaimer: Samsung did send this phone out for me to review, but they did not tell me what to say, and they didn't review this video before it went live. As always, my thoughts are my own.
I did purchase All S24 models, and they will be here shortly, so I still spent my own money on them.
In this video, I will go over how well the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra handles Super HDR photos using Instagram as well as the camera quality overall. I'll be making a camera comparison video against other phones such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max as well as the Pixel 8 Pro.
From what Ive noticed, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra takes really good photos. The new 5x lens gathers more light, and is physically larger which means better OIS than ever before which allows you to zoom in far, while still keeping great stabilization in photos AND videos.

I bought an S22 Ultra for $352 (shipping included) and traded it in for $650 toward the 1TB S24 Ultra. With Samsung pre order deals, you can save a lot buying a used 2 generation old device and still get very good trade in deals.
in my country, samsung pays 300$ for s22 ultra when trade in.
S24ultras Instagram camera switching looks even better than the S23's own camera app.

Can you actually take HDR pictures and view in your gallery. Because there’s a super HDR setting in the gallery settings say on galaxy Devices. Does that mean other pictures in your gallery say from an iPhone or pixel won’t show HDR. Like does it say HDR in the meta data when you swipe up on a photo ? Thanks
I’ve been an apple user for the past 8 years and after seeing all the improvements and camera quality on the s24 ultra I felt it was time to give up on the status given by owning an iPhone. Switching from 14 Pro Max to S24 ultra 1TB and could not be more excited 🔥keep the good work man and thanks a lot !
What status with being an iPhone user? Flagships Android users have the ability to have phones that folds. Every time I use my Fold in front of an iPhone user, they all regret buying their phones and somehow end up buying a flagship Android, Samsung, One Plus etc... all with amazing great features which are miles better than any iPhone.
I'm upgrading from the Fold 4 myself to the S24U 1TB for the camera. The S24U cameras are amazing!

This does seem like a massive improvement in photo quality.
Always been better than Apple. MKBHD did a blind test on X with over 2 million votes and the winner for camera was the mid range Pixel 7a which bested the Apple 15 Pro Max which came in almost last! Ha... All you're paying for is false advertisement of Apple if you're an iPhone user.
It only shows up on other S24 devices.. Tried viewing from iPhone 15PM and the image didn’t appear Super HDR. Same thing when viewing from S23U

HDR photos only show on other S24 devices… Couldn’t view the pictures in Super HDR via an iPhone 15 PM. Tried viewing from my S23U , still same SDR picture

They promise this every year and... later on Iphones still turn out to be better with these kind of apps. Tuning pictures to look better for Instagram but not resolving basics, like shutter lag or weird color grading is whole another insane level. But as long as it sells the devices, I'm ok with it.
Which encoder would you recommend for filming on the S24, aiming for the best image quality in 4K videos at 30 FPS for UA-cam, such as for a travel video?
I know that the H.265 encoder is claimed to offer the same quality as H.264 but with half the required data. However, I prefer H.264 encoding because the decoding of H.265 data significantly extends the editing time in my editing software. Personally, I don't mind that it consumes more data, as editing time and compatibility are more important to me.
Currently, I am confident that I would exclusively use the H.264 standard (bitrate around 48,000 kbits).
However, there is an additional parameter in the advanced video settings for HEVC (H.265) called "High Bitrate Videos." Enabling this option provides a bitrate of around 80,000 - 90,000 kbits when recording with H.265, almost twice as high as H.264 or H.265 (without selecting higher bitrate).
How can this be, and is the image quality significantly better? Unfortunately, I cannot perceive any difference in image quality myself. If the image quality were truly much better, I would even consider switching from H.264 to H.265 (High Bitrate) and accept the poorer compatibility and convenience in the editing software for it.

Don’t bother , Super HDR only shows on other S24 devices.. Tried viewing from both iPhone15PM and S23U.. Images appeared in regular definition, no HDR whatsoever
maybe later s23u will receive it after getting the one ui 6.1 update
Always record highest quality from camera app and then upload whichever platform youwant to share.

Everyone needs to understand that all of these early reviews are not showing the actual capabilities of the finalized s24 ultra!
These devices work packaged and in shipping during the time Samsung engineers were finalizing and fine-tuning the camera. This means as s24 Ultras start to actually be delivered to customers that they will receive the final software update. Samsung does themselves a disservice without telling early reviewer to at least say a disclaimer explaining that fact!
Samsung told me the firmware on my phone is in fact, final.
You need to understand that does never happen with Samsung. In 7 years I've been using their flagships it's same old "we'll fix it with updates" story/lie year after year. In reality, you'll use your device hoping for updates (that will never come) and right before you know it - it's time for new S2x series. As the same problems are present year after year, if they wanted to fix anything, they would have done it by now - they had enough time, resources and customer feedback. My S23U had the same camera issues first day I bought it and 10 months and many updates later.

The flat screen is worth the upgrade. All stylus phones should be flat-screen. Don't know why it took Samsung this long to figure it out. We don't write on curved paper! Paper is always FLAT!
