I don't care what anyone says, Cenk REALLY is the most open minded man in America (for a political analyst). He has problems with certain Republicans and Democrats alike. Is Cenk awesome? OF COUUURRRSEEE!
Finding your channel lead to a subscription I look forward to watching and to see this, I just want to say congratulations on the progress you're making. My friends (who I've had sit down and watch your channel with me) and I wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing what happens for you all.
I'm a black woman and I agree with you. I'm glad Cenk made this point. People are so afraid of this kind of conversation. The word "racist" takes a level 2 conversation to a level 10 in no time. It prevents people from really dealing with an issue.
the reason I watch Cenk is because he's "real"...I don't see any "acting". Sometimes I disagree with him but he always explains his positions and acknowledges REALITY when he does it.
thank you for sharing your ideas with me,I am glad to have been able to see your ideas.. i personally think that it's not just about a white guilt...it must be about Where things are going wrong in our country... can we fix our broken schools so that ALL our children have chances..i love our country for the fact that it is a meeting point of ALL cultures from around the world.. not just one group..but a meeting point for ideas and the beauty of a Multitude of Cultures that come together. thnku.
Totally with you... racism DOES exist... and HAS to be addressed... we are NOT that far from when there was INSTITUTIONAL racism... not even one generation ago... I hope we as a nation can start to talk about WHY things in our history are evil... rather than just saying... it's history now... so let's move on... the inequalities of today are Hinged upon the racism of yesterday...
WOOT!! THEY ARE TEST DRIVING CENK UYGUR AND THEY LIKE IT!! Compared to that black dude and the boring host, Cenk seemed so much more animated and exciting, good job Cenk.
Wow the guy to the left totally tried to smooth over this whole thing with positivity and a smile. Uygur tried to keep as real as possible. I fucks with TYT.
I am so proud, like a proud parent. I hope my email to msnbc helped? Although I don't agree with you. We still can have a dialogue after acknowledging that it "APPEARED" to be racist, either subconciously, innocently or not. It is using the old racist stereotypes.
I think David Shuster was totally surprised that Cenk was kinda defending the New York Post. After Cenk's statement he wasn't able to say anything and just asked his next question to the other guy. I kinda like how Cenk got him off guard.
Very true... while I know that racism is still an issue, it's really not as big of a deal as people make it out to be... I'm from Georgia, and most people in my community have gotten over the issue of race (I know plenty of well-respected black/white couples that live here), and as you point out, Bush got called a chimp all the time and it wasn't taken as a racist statement. Everyone has become so concerned about being pc that no one can even discuss anything without being called a racist.
That sounds right. But im young and pretty naive about these things, but im interested. im also from the uk, ive only recently begun learning about these american channels and their connections with politics. thanks anyway!
Way to go Cenk! I disagree with you alot. I yell at my computer when you say dumb things. But you work hard and you are god at what you do, it is nice to see you achieve success.. best of luck.
This was a great little conversation. Cenk is excellent right off the bat! He sure comes off as anintelligent and knowledgeable guest. It's almost as if he BELONGS THERE...hmm. TYTonMSNBC...FTW!
to hit the nail on the head: If they say "yes this cartoon is racist we're sorry", then they're admitting to deliberately publishing a racist cartoon which opens them to huge criticism. If they say, "we're sorry to who this may have offended", then they're admitting it could have been perceived as racist and appologising to those people. This means that if they are being racist, it was by accident, which looks much better.
Because what he said had nothing to do with your reply. He stated his opinion, which I happen to disagree with, and you went off about the history of slavery and how blacks aren't allowed to have special social privileges. It was just an unnecessary response to someone merely giving their opinion on a completely different subject.
"Just because your born black doesn't mean you have things you're allowed to talk about that we're not." "The black african tribesmen selling rival black african tribesmen to white slave traders came later." Was that really necessary? There is a thing called self-control, so use it.
I am white and I don't feel guilt when I see this cartoon as racist- I get pissed off. You'd think that we would have transcended this kind of racist crap as a nation a long long time ago. Right now it is coming out of the woodwork.
I still don't understand why this is offensive, if Bush was still in office when this was released it wouldn't have even been considered as racism, but instead it would have recieved a chuckle instead.
No...we should not focus on race at all. We are ALL human beings and should be treated as such. I hate this political correctness crap going on in America today. Just treat everyone equal (both in praise and criticisms).
I for one am, happy about socialism and believe that it is NOT extended facism. Even with a good deal of socialism we can still get together and speak about things in a democratic fashion. I find that, just about anything to make life better for most of the people would be better then making life better for a small 1% I don't know why you see socialism as power mad. There are many strong socialist leaning countries that are doing quite well.
That IS the larger issue... and i really like how Cenk brought that point up here... We NEED to HAVE the discussions that Mr. Thurston brought up... and like Cenk says in this clip (and said on HIS show the other day regarding this story. in much more detail...GIVE HIM A SHOW :)) if we turn everything into an attack game... we WON'T get to talk about real things.. .like HOW it can be offensive... instead of the mindless debate that gets to exist if it is sumarally called offensive.
That would have been a much better piece if the host had just shut up. The two guests were having a much more interesting conversation then the one the host was trying to push.
tha's what gets me... far right is Facism... while far left is what? Everyone working Together... for common goals? hmmm...sounds like the national dream of a little country that i live in and love... everyone PULLING TOGETHER ... working for a better nation with MORE equality...
Whether the NYT meant to be racist or not, it was still a dumb move to post that "satire". I'm black myself, and I often notice that some people who say things with racist undertones, aren't always racist, but just kind of stupid. We all should be talking about race MUCH MORE OFTEN. That way we can understand each other 100%, instead of "walking on thin ice" when trying not to offend someone. Still though, the NYT should've known better.
Wow. Cenk really controlled the conversation with points. When Shuster asked why aren't we having a more serious conversation about race, I wanted someone to say, "cuz MSNBC called us in to talk about this stupid cartoon instead of other more important things." Give Cenk the show and he'll ask better questions, have better topics and frame the topics better!
Not disagreeing there. Its just this whole situation is getting blown way out of proportion. And the amount of media coverage on this cartoon is insane.
It seems to my like Cenk was the most sensible one, among them, when he immediately pointed out that maybe, just MAYBE, people are over-reacting just a smidgen, when they throw around the word "racist". On the other hand, I'm a white person, and I think people are over-reacting a lot, and the NYT apologized just fine, by directing it at the people who really were offended, and that they don't give a flying crapcake for the people who are just doing this to be malicious.
Cenk is quite consistent and effective at discussing.
Give him more air time!
Uygur '09
A host we can believe in,
Bringing REAL change to the media.
I want Cenk saying "OF COUUURRRSEEEE!" as my ringtone
"Of Cooooourse" ahaha.
I would love to see more of this guy. Very intellectual.
Dude! This has to be one of the smartest things said in a long time. Finally! someone who gets it!
That was pretty epic. RARELY do I see a set up for discussion like this not go into the 2 guest yelling at each other. Again made props.
Thanks for the correction.
I don't care what anyone says, Cenk REALLY is the most open minded man in America (for a political analyst). He has problems with certain Republicans and Democrats alike. Is Cenk awesome? OF COUUURRRSEEE!
cenk! loving seeing you in the media and giving great thoughtful ideas
hahahhaha love the signature "of courseeeeeeeee"
Awesome! Glad to see you on MSNBC Cenk!

thank you.
You nailed it. I agree 270%.
Great Job! A bit choppy at first but you nailed it!
great discussion
You hit the nail on the head.
How?
thumbs up Cenk! You did awesome.
Both sides presented have valid points, certainly.
I don't know if I agree with Cenk 100% on this one but he did a great job.
TYT On MSNBC!
Well said.

Of Cooooouuurse!!!!
Dammit Cenk, I can't wait to see you on MSNBC every day
the reason I watch Cenk is because he's "real"...I don't see any "acting". Sometimes I disagree with him but he always explains his positions and acknowledges REALITY when he does it.
C'mon Cenk! You're so close! We GOTTA get you that 10pm slot!!!
Cenk on MSNBC!!! Let's hope this is a preview of the future!
spike lee looks like a kid reading cue cards for a school play
principles was the word. He needs real ones.
Kudos to Cenk also for having a very reasonable and measured response: time for you to stop being a contributor and start being a HOST!
Nice done cenk! after watching the other segment on this, i thought you where going with the rasist stance, but you keept it real! way to go.
thank you for sharing your ideas with me,I am glad to have been able to see your ideas.. i personally think that it's not just about a white guilt...it must be about Where things are going wrong in our country... can we fix our broken schools so that ALL our children have chances..i love our country for the fact that it is a meeting point of ALL cultures from around the world.. not just one group..but a meeting point for ideas and the beauty of a Multitude of Cultures that come together. thnku.
omg so funny. I want that picture above my bed and framed in gold
Totally with you... racism DOES exist... and HAS to be addressed... we are NOT that far from when there was INSTITUTIONAL racism... not even one generation ago...

GO CENK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a 26 year old white male who has lived in Scotland, UK for my whole life. I instantly thought it was racist.
no? someone disagrees?
try watching some of his movies... rather than judging him by his reputation...
Go Cenk!!!
You did "Of Couuuurse" so funny
my thoughts exactly
Wow the guy to the left totally tried to smooth over this whole thing with positivity and a smile. Uygur tried to keep as real as possible.
I fucks with TYT.
lol @"mostly" You nailed it!
I am so proud, like a proud parent. I hope my email to msnbc helped? Although I don't agree with you. We still can have a dialogue after acknowledging that it "APPEARED" to be racist, either subconciously, innocently or not. It is using the old racist stereotypes.
Go Cenk!!!!! It felt like seeing a friend or family member on TV. LOL.
I think David Shuster was totally surprised that Cenk was kinda defending the New York Post. After Cenk's statement he wasn't able to say anything and just asked his next question to the other guy. I kinda like how Cenk got him off guard.
Climbing the stairs to the big time! Go Cenk!
Very true... while I know that racism is still an issue, it's really not as big of a deal as people make it out to be... cenk's opinion isn't generic and boring but also not extreme
TheTurk really have clear ideas. The other 2 seem to turn around the bucket but never get wet.
5/5
lol i had no idea his name was pronounced "Jenk" I have always pronounced it "Senk" lol
That sounds right. But im young and pretty naive about these things, but im interested. im also from the uk, ive only recently begun learning about these american channels and their connections with politics. thanks anyway!
I was thinking about that also.
YEAH CENK!
Way to go Cenk! I disagree with you alot. I yell at my computer when you say dumb things. But you work hard and you are god at what you do, it is nice to see you achieve success..
best of luck.
Somehow I feel just presenting the name implies a sense of more prestife - it's this guy really does not need introductions, like really.
What you should hate is racism itself. This is not everthing - this is one particular ad.
Cenk is the MAN!
why do ppl go on the news and not bother to button up their shirt and put on a tie?
HE DID IT AND I HELPED! :)
Ahhh, look how cute Cenk looks on the big screen. TYT on MSNBC!
Great Job Cenk!!!!
Was this your unofficial audition???
Pretty sure they don't accept responses. Also, why would they accept a response that just agrees with them? If anything, they'd want counterpoints.
This was a great little conversation.
Cenk is excellent right off the bat! He sure comes off as anintelligent and knowledgeable guest. It's almost as if he BELONGS THERE...hmm.
TYTonMSNBC...FTW!
Way to go Cenk!!!
well in Cenk!
good question, Strange indeed.

good shit cenk
Yes...good job Cenk.
Cenk always looks so hot when he's on any other set than the normal TYT. He looks like Superman.
"Just because your born black doesn't mean you have things you're allowed to talk about that we're not."
"The black african tribesmen selling rival black african tribesmen to white slave traders came later."
Was that really necessary? There is a thing called self-control, so use it.

perhaps this was a test to see two contenders for the 10pm slot? baratunde looks good too.
I liked the, paraphrasing,
"Al Sharpton is crazy, so heres Spike Lee!"
yeah
good stuff cenk!
I still don't understand why this is offensive, if Bush was still in office when this was released it wouldn't have even been considered as racism, but instead it would have recieved a chuckle instead.
Yo.. good work cenk
Good Job TYT I'm just glad that Cenk Uygur didn't quote Mike Singletary on MSNBC for his debut. maybe next time
Yeah it's right. He's Turkish.
No...we should not focus on race at all. We are ALL human beings and should be treated as such. I hate this political correctness crap going on in America today. Just treat everyone equal (both in praise and criticisms).
aww they cut Cenk off at the end.
My b day the year I was born ...

nice one Cenk !

@Hydrocodone could you explain how this is anti-black and anti-muslim??
Not disagreeing there. Its just this whole situation is getting blown way out of proportion.
And the amount of media coverage on this cartoon is insane.
And FOX is FAR right. Your point?
It seems to my like Cenk was the most sensible one, among them, when he immediately pointed out that maybe, just MAYBE, people are over-reacting just a smidgen, when they throw around the word "racist".
