  • The Volvo XC60 is one of a number of new models from Volvo that has completely changed peoples opinions of the Swedish brand. It wasn't so long ago, owning a Volvo was viewed as a car your dad would like to own, a caravanner's dream or an affordable middle classed estate car. Fortunately those days are now long gone and the new look Volvo XC60 is a viable alternative to its equivalent Mercedes, Audi or BMW alternative.
Naturally, when your price tag is reflecting your premium ambitions, your product needs to match up. That was the challenge faced by the Volvo XC60, which sits nicely above the superb Volvo XC40 in the brand's SUV lineup. The XC60 is based on the same underpinnings as Volvo’s flagship SUV, the luxurious XC90. However, it's a bit shorter, a little bit cheaper and comes with five seats instead of the XC90’s seven. The XC60 is aimed squarely at other medium, premium SUV rivals, including the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3.

Hi AJ , I just luv the way you do car reviews , sensible, practical , owner expectation , functionality, safety and ownership experience
This is in contrast to other car review sites that is not realistic like being paid to promote some popular brands to keep promoting on their reliabilities and resale values only rather than what the cars can offered and performed during the duration of ownership
Really appreciate and enjoy your video
A realistic down to earth honest review coming from you compare to others giving unacceptable superficial car reviews.
    👍 Cheers

The voice commands work really well. On my XC60 I can set the fan speed, the direction of airflow, cabin temperature, all the climate settings via voice commands. Just say ‘help’ and the system will give you the commands you need. It’s not perfect, but it is much safer than taking you eyes off the road.

The large transmission tunnel - it’s where the hybrid battery lives.

Hi! Enjoyed watching the review, as said in the comments the screen isn't a 'touch screen' its an infra-red grid meaning you can operate it with literally anything!! The transmission tunnel doesn't actually have any transmission in it but is a convenient place for them to put the batteries as also said in a comment. The reason there is no 4 zone climate is because of that battery pack they cant fit the aircon pipes on the xc60 t8 in but can only do that on the xc90 which is a shame as it was something we were looking at when we were buying our current xc60 t8.
Accidentally stumbled over this video and it was very enjoyable to watch!!!!

Spare tire is very necessary... especially for us who like going off road or very long distances where there could be no repairs garage... very necessary.. if it doesn't come with one... buying one is necessary.

Great review, just bought 2020 inscription on the back of your thoughts, only thing worth telling people is ( probably including now) that apple car and reversing camera are extras 👍

You can change the heat settings without having to go into the menu, just push the 'Talk Button' on the steering wheel and say ' increase heating to 23c' job done.

The hump in the back down the middle houses the battery for the hybrid system

My biggest issue with the T8 would be the longevity of the 2.0 engine

I think the D and B series without electric support during acceleration could have issues with the downsize motor. Not on the T 6 or 8, because the e motor supports a lot and prevent combustion engine from being damaged when abused.

@@steffenrosmus9177 I can understand why you say this, but Volvo over engineer their engines, if you've ever seen a video on a Volvo engine being stripped down any mechanic will tell you they go over the top with their specs, as Steffen above has said, he has done 270k miles with no issues, the 5 cylinder engines for example are so over specked that they could take up to 450 bhp without any modifications at all to the bottom end ! So knowing Volvo they have probably taken that same engineering to this four cylinder engine as well !

RECHARGE PHEV VERSION. The singular most disappointing aspect of this car is its inability to set a timed charge, using the car or app (believed the same on new XC90 models too).
Unless you have a smart home charge point, people like me with a dumb one, on an economy 7 tariff need to be nocturnal to benefit from off peak charging. A retrograde step from earlier models and spoiling a brand new car! Volvo offer no solution and their promise to fix it has not materialised in 8 months and is nowhere in sight. There’s no timer on the market sufficiently highly rated to make using the plug-in cable safe in the UK at least & in any case it takes 9 hours to charge.
