I didn’t know Michael was 81 years old. He is the last of the OG casino owners. I still remember the good old days when his dad & Benny Binion were the kings of downtown. I am so pleased that I can still visit Benny’s statue at SouthPoint.
Back in 87' when I was young, dumb and full of debauchery I stayed awake 36 hours in Las Vegas and passed out in my Cadillac in the Circus Circus garage parking lot.
Damn that’s wild. I wonder how crazy Vegas was in the 90s. That when the strip really got all the action. I remember going as a kid in early 2000s and would walk from circus circus to the end of the strip
I loved Burger Brassiere in the Paris and Bally's connector..Always went there yet didn't get the 777 burger...we managed to eat every burger type on the menu except the most expensive ones..Sad there gone
I started going to Vegas in 1988 and loved playing at I believe it was Holiday, It's now Harrahs. What they would do on a regular basis just like cocktail waitresses they come around with a cart with hot dogs and jumbo cookies. He never had to leave the machine. Every time they'd come around I'd get a cookie cuz it was already wrapped tightly. Let's just say I had plenties of cookies up in the room for snacks 😂 I forgot to say it was free 😮 just like the 🍸🍹
The wife and I have been going to Vegas for the past 13 years. We are in our early 40's and still love it. We have already been twice this year alone. We were planning another trip this September, and due to the prices going up like crazy and seeing way less value for our dollar, we decided against Vegas. For less money, we are going for a longer trip to the Dominican. Vegas needs to come back down to reality.
I am old enough to remember a guy eating dinner at a regular blackjack table in Vegas. It was meatloaf and mashed potatoes and it was at the Stardust. lol Also, in my opinion, South Point delivers on the best casino experience in Las Vegas.
South Point has become HQ for me and my crew over the last few years. We love everything about that joint - especially the long-lost feeling that you're actually welcome there, not just being entertained as cover to drain your bank account. Strip hotels now feel like strip bars - as one barker once said "when your money's gone, you should be too." SP does not feel like that at all. Thank you, Michael Gaughan!
Josh and Rachel’s 24 hr video was fun to watch . Part of the Vegas allure was the perks , like free valet parking, food and drink deals room comps . The strip corporations are moving to accommodate the high rollers more and give out less to the first timers and average visitors. Good thing the downtown owners like Michael still recognize the value of serving everyone #wulffdendad
Will put the Monolith on my bucket list will like to go see, agree "old Vegas" is the best and why I still go tol this day to help keep alive Im a Betran visitor 50 soon to be 51 I was born and raised at the tail end of eras such as Old Vegas yet happy I experienced and its forever in my heart
The closest to doing 24 hours without a hotel room for me was when Atlantic City Casinos first operating 24 hours a day. I live in the Philadelphia PA area and took the train down in the evening. I started with a good dinner buffet and then played the horse races till about midnight. I then had a snack at one of the various places in the casino. After that I played slots in most of the casinos along the boardwalk. One of the reasons I went was I wanted to see how many people would actually be playing that late at night into the morning. It was a once in a lifetime experience for me and I took one of the early morning trains home and after breakfast enjoyed a good days sleep. I was surprised how many people were playing however I had no problem getting on the slot machines I liked to play. While I lost money on the trip I did not loose much. But this is a young persons experience. Now I only do day trips or stay overnight if I am comped a room.
There used to be a cool reality show about Vegas around 15 years ago called "Rehab: Party at the Hard Rock" that highlighted the dayclub at the Hard Rock hotel and Casino. It was fun!
Love, hope and prayers for Celine she never gives up. Lots of fond memories at the South point. and celeb encounters in the parking garage elevators during the Jerry Lewis telethons. my take on most of those club deals is just don't gamble more than you normally would to get the deal, or it is probably not worth it for you. but other than that, hey gamblers are going to gamble that's why they are in Vegas so get as much back from it as you can those perks all add up at the end of the year, just like the losses.
Never heard of 'Power Slap' until now. Now I am sorry that I have heard of it. It's terrible how people will risk injury (or other health issues) just for a few bucks. What's next? Nut Kicking? EDIT: Hey Mark, I've never heard of Area 54 😂 Is this a dance club like Studio 54, but for aliens? 🎶👽👾🎶
Got to give it up for Tuscany though, altering the rules to ensure they are not taking a bath is still better than just canceling the promo outright which most corporate strip casinos would probably do.
Treasure Island opened a Popeye's Chicken outlet in the back by the CVS. Between the restaurant itself and people sitting at the slot machines to eat their fried chicken, the entire back area was covered with grease. That was our final visit to TI.
Yes, I'd love to see Celine Dion live in Las Vegas and I love Josh and Rachel, they put out solid content. I have always enjoyed the MTM content and you both put on a solid show. Now I just have to figure out how to get my ass down the LV again from Boise. Not as hot here though.
You guys are the best! Thanks so much for the shoutout. The definite issue we ran into with 24 hours was the sugar and alcohol crash. Totally worth it for the story but definitely not in the plans anytime soon to try again.
I just bought a ticket for Vegas $149 r/t on SWair .But my flight returning home is the next day after check out .about 20 hours later dear lord i hope i make it lol.
Great show guys! Eating at a Slot 🤮 That burger with Octopus Ink 🤮 Love how Josh and Rachel did that! I could of back in the day, not now. Love South Point!

The Food Hall at The Uncommons is closing shortly. They couldn't make a go of it. From the comments that I have read about it, the parking was difficult and the prices were strip prices for not big portions.

Eat at the slots? I would just like to get a drink at the slots. Used to be the cocktails would be offered but we were not offered one drink in Vegas. Spent 3 days, no free drinks.
you know with how much vegas content ive consumed not once did i think about people eating at the slots. i thought that just wasnt allowed for some reason or another even though you can drink lol i swear i love vegas the fact you can order a steak at the slots or a fancy ish dinner is crazy to me i love it lol i just wanna see like a bunch of waiters or something rolling down the casino with 2-3 carts to serve this guy at the slots some like 5 star meal xD

Yea, that 24 hours with no hotel. I thought, I know they get comped rooms. Now I realize, thats not it. They were doing it for the Vlog. It wouldn't be me. A room to rest and get cleaned is a must!
The toughest thing for performers like Celine Dion to do is to stop performing. If she can do it physically, she'll be back. By way of example, the great Al Jolson tried to retire when his wife gave him an ultimatum- me or the audience. After a short retirement, he chose the audience and divorced his first wife. On the night of his second wedding, Jolson excused himself to go out for some cigarettes. He wandered into a nearby firehouse, and gave the boys an impromptu performance. An hour later, he left and went back to his honeymoon suite.
El Cotrez used to promote eating at slots or table games. Not sure if ElCo still does. I've seen people doing that. I've done about 18 hours overnight in Las Vegas without a hotel. Lady at Planet Hollywood said we could conduct business in a certain stairwell but I said no.

Celine seems to have top quality Medical care. I expected her to be in a wheel chair within a year from diagnosis. She is 3 years out and walking, talking, singing somewhat. She is doing excellent.
I’d have no desire to do Vegas without a hotel or at least a car to nap in and wouldn’t do it now when it’s hot. We were fortunate to see Celine Deon when she first started appearing at Caesars Palace over 20 years ago when they first built that theater for her residency. I don’t think at her age now with her disability she will be able to handle another residency. Maybe a few shows.
