However, it turned out that the operation held several direct links to players and personnel currently employed in the NHL, which led to several members of the league getting caught under the spotlight and bringing controversy to the sport...

@@Gopherzooka me to Jared, he has been squeaky clean pretty much his whole life except for this. We were expected to believe his wife placed bets totalling a 1/2 million bucks on sports but Wayne didn't even say "are you sure the Lakers are going to win tonight"? Come on ..... personally as long as they didn't bet on their own sport I could care less. 1/2 million bucks to Wayne is like the average Joe spending 50 bucks a week on scratch tickets. Also kind of odd how Jeremy is a big time TV guy now in the US, Travis and Rick are both head coaches in the NHL.

Actually there have been players who have been banned from the NHL for gambling. In 1948, Don Gallinger and Billy Taylor were caught betting on the Bruins (their team) and were banned for life. They did get reinstated in 1970. However, their careers were long over by then.
