Porn addictions - for both women and men equally - is one of the most difficult additions to overcome because our entire society is extremely saturated in sexual content and messages. Most of our social media platforms are glorified porn websites. Dr. Leigh did a great job explaining the neurological reasons why the urges to have or want sex happen and what can be done to control it.

That and it literally is manifested through our natural instincts to reproduce as opposed to any other addiction. There is no primal instinct that looks for snorting coke up its nose or injecting herion or meth right into its veins

Romantic sexless movies may have similar effect on women...because women are more addicted to verbal contact with a man.
its a "fantasy" addiction.... and fantasy within fantasy, instead of focusing on productive hobbies and and sports
Some said its like "faliing in love with falling in love", not with actual person.
therefore some people dont commmit to relationships because they "fall in love with feeling or image of falling in love"
but as soon as they are supposed to sacrifice something for parrtner or family, they break up and find another partner.

Porn addiction doesnt exist. It seems to be a popular excuse for otherwise flawed individuals. Its not the porn, it is your lack of self-control.

I just relapsed after almost 2 years of not watching pornography. Obviously was not worth it. I’m fighting right now to recover and hopefully last longer this time. All the doctor says is true. You would think that after a long time of not watching porn you would have become a little bit more immune to it, wrong! You are just as susceptible and vulnerable to get addicted once again just with one little peak.
Don’t get too comfortable if you have achieved a streak like me. The battle is never over, this is not like quitting weed or alcohol. It’s waay worse and way more addicting. Stay away lads.

I relapsed again yesterday after 54 days of not doing it and obviously I was a bit gutted and down about it. But when I thought about how many times I’ve actually done it this year (which is 6 times in 7 months) I realised I’ve actually made a massive improvement from how many times I used to do it overall, so even though I haven’t actually beaten this yet I know I’m actually improving and slowly beating it

But every fantasy witll dry up....
so no matter how masculine the man is "the fantasies men and women have" are not real, or genuine,
especially if there is an element of supperficial tricks, on your brain, made by the companies.
Brain loves "organic" fantasires as sports or som,e hobbies.
You brain feels the best when you learn new skills, because it makes the brain neurons grow
and maybe rather try to learn "connection" with people, rather than just "reaction" to people.
so you will be endlesly inspired by them and yourself too.

I can definitely say this is absolutely spot on. I’ve been porn free since mid 2021, and what made it easier for me than others is that when I gave into an urge, I felt worse, not better. Plus, I noticed the very same patterns come up when it comes to food around the end of 2021, so becoming aware of myself living out the same patterns through other things showed me that just because porn was out of my life for good, the pattern was still there.

So thankful for all your insight.
Something that's really helped me lately has been going to dance classes as many days of the week as possible.
I think a combo of social isolation, and loss of access to my passion (jiu jitsu, due to back injury) made my addiction worse.
I've read/heard that sex addiction can be due to a person not having a purpose in life, or just generally a boring life.
The combo of renewed purpose, daily physical touch, and more regular socialization all from dance classes, has done wonders.
It hasn't been as much of a struggle this time around, and I'm on a 1.5-month streak so far!

I recently decided to abstain from viewing pornography as much as I can, and hope to abstain from it altogether. I can tell You that something has shifted in me as I have chosen to refrain (mostly). While I do think there are inconceivably rare cases in which someone might be able to use pornography beneficially, that is exceptionally anomalous, and arguably isn’t a long term solution. I think pornography is a major contributor to a lot of issues in the world, more than most people can realize. As a gay man, it is rare for me to find others in my community that are on the same path as I am or view this the same way. I don’t think I’ve met anyone else in my community (yet) that aligns with me on this. I am excited to see more research outside of the religious realm that is helping us to understand the downsides of viewing pornography, so that people can get an understanding of what they want to do with that information. If someone knows the downsides and chooses to continue with the information they are given, they are free to do so. But at least now they know the pros and cons. Thanks for putting Your research out there! It means more than You could ever know!

I have had problems with pornography since I was probably 10. I'm 54 now.
There have been times that I was able to go for a little while not viewing. But the last several years have been rough. And it seems like I really can't stop now.
The longest I've abstained recently is 2 or 3 weeks. I think one of my biggest triggers happens to be found at my work. I work in a grocery store. Some ladies come in there dressed in clothing that is very provocative. I try to remain respectful and I don't stare, I often avoid looking in their direction altogether.
The problem is once that image is in my head it's very difficult to get it out. Often I come home exhausted as my hours are kind of crazy. That is more often than not when I fall.
I really do hate this. I have Covenant Eyes and an accountability partner, but I have learned how to cheat the system, (and consequently, myself). Sometimes I will go ahead and snitch myself out, but by then the damage is done.
I really do hate this vicious cycle.

Please pray for me in the name of Jesus that I can become free of this sick mind disease. It started as me being curious a few years ago when I was about 15 or 14 and now I’m 18. I go in and out of periods that are pretty bad. I want to stop for good. When I first started I looked it up plainly out of curiosity. I wanted to know how that kind of stuff happened and stuff. It was a bad mistake. I honestly wish I never even knew what it was to begin with or anything. I wish I could go back to having the mind of a child. But now so many things make me think of this and tempt me to relapse. I can’t live with myself like this. And being a woman who struggles with this addiction is hard because most women don’t talk about it and people usually think it’s only men who deal with this addiction. I’m so lost. I need to read my Bible. I serve at my church a lot and I really need to stop doing this. If anyone has good verses to help me that would be great. As well as your prayers.

    1. My motivation to keep away becomes less and less strong
    2. P*rn becomes less and less of a bad thing in my mind rather a good thing that I start to look forward to.
I find that when I relapse knowing fully that I'm relapsing and binging, it's not that I do this compulsory and not in controll of my own body. I do it because the aforementioned two points happening. So what can we do in this situation?
