This jet is absolutely amazing. It's like flying a custom hotrod in the sky/just gorgeous and a bit deadly to boot. Thanks for a wonderful video.
Look astonishing. still after all these years. Maybe not on the ground, but in the air...She is beautiful. Cheers from Denmark
Thank you Thomas, you are right it looks very elegant in the air. Greetings from Germany
It looks modern and other worldly. Way ahead of its time in appearance. Love this impressive aircraft.
Your right !! Its sad that shes not flying anymore
I must say it... The british were unique when building aircraft back then. Look at the Avro Vulcan and the Sea Vixen... nothing was comparable to them in terms of design, quite vanguardist. :D
+Felipe Muñoz C yeah, I wonder why? I compare with Russian planes that are often very simple and straightforward in design..
Great footage. I fly the RC model of this bird and it looks and sounds bloody real. Pls check out my page.
This video was a treat! I love the Sea Vixen!
I also do a lot !! Thank you very much
dunno about tech specs but plane looks just amazing!
Thank you for watching !! I like to hear that you like it !!!
That's why we're all here - to admire the beauty. It was a horrible combat aircraft btw, but back then most planes could not be tested as there was no simulation.
(Based on reading) She was a bit slow for her day, being subsonic around mach 2 peers, but very competive in sensors and weaponry. And her handling was lovely
Elegant display from a true classic, thanks!
+Roystone Szweda Thank you
Beautiful aircraft....looks as good as the day it entered service...
What a great plane it was! That girl was moving all over the place!
You are absolutely right !! Thanks for watching my video !!!
Fabulous footage, thank you!
Thank you very much !!!!
Awesome plane... I seen Sea Vixens when HMS Eagle visited NZ in the early 70s... thanks from NZ 👍🇳🇿
Sadly they didn't fly anymore after a crash, thanks for watching my video !! Greetings from Munich Germany
It must be an absolute thrill & blast to be in control of this monster plane!
Beautiful jet.
You are 100% right !! Thank you very much
Great video - great plane. Thanks for posting.
Thank you very much !!!!
fantastic livery.
Excellent video quality !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you very much !!!
At moment 2:01, the aircraft engaged a (genuine) "super advanced stealth mode" & phased-out momentarily into a blur, but bcoz owing much to the concept what's still in its infancy. The relevant capacitors that power the induction coils that in turn go to generate EM field for phase-shifting light did not hold-up to expectation.
These, while tho' ar'nt evn a new development, something that's been similarly attempted, tried & tested countless times thru-out the world by Superpower Countries from since the 'Philadelphia Experiment' of renown undertaken by the US Navy. None was known to have truly perfected it to the effect of actually having it employed or applied in active to any type of defense asset or if in fact it already was deployed, but in total secrecy. But the current so-called stealth, that's but confined to only so much deceiving radar detection & strictly not true "invisibility", what not even dedicated F-35 Lightning, -22 Raptor, -117 NightHawk, B-2 Spirit, the Sukhoi T-50 PAK-FA, Chengdu J-20 nor J-31 had, in varying levels respectively are true invisibility. Welcome to the future people, it's already here, where sci-fi Star Trek's Klingon & Romulan type "Cloaking (Invisibility) Device" is now a thing of reality.
He-He-He.., the abuv was a joke. It's just a case of the photographer changing capture range-depth & probably a lag from the auto focus facility emerged.
One of the top 10 beautiful jets ever built
You are 100% right
My favorite Fleet Air Arm aircraft!
Thank you
Thanks!
+Markku Koljonen Thank you very much
Back in the day Britain made things for itself !!
Yes your right !! Thanks for watching my Video !!!
Nice to see the old bird coming home (I worked on the 766 Squadron for a few years at Yeovilton)
Hello Rob, It is really nice that you my Video, that is why i have put it online.
I was crew at the fire station 1970-71 Age 16 when I started there , first crash was a Gannet Crash off , something I’ll never forget :-(
I was on 899 squadron in 1962 and worked on both MkI and MkII Vixens. The aircraft shown is a MkII and has the 899 gauntlet marking on the tail fin. The squadron motto "Strike and Defend"!
Beautiful plane.
+ZD Bao Thank you
Served on HMS Victorious in the 60s as the F4 Phantom was coming on stream and as a C.A.P. AIRCRAFT the vixen was untouchable turning inside any comparable jet aircraft
unfortunately turning isn't a big factor in jet combat
@@494Farrell It very much is.
@@la_old_salt2241 In dogfight, but the Sea Vixen wasn't a dogfighter. That's why it lacked a gun. In an air battle it was supposed to perform hit-and-run attacks on the enemy aircraft (preferably in a dive because that was the only way to break the sound barrier) firing its missiles and departing as fast at it could. But for its time it wasn't really that fast, It was transonic and therefore incapable of supersonic speeds in level flight. The prototypes were capable of supersonic flight but a row of structural failures forced them to limit the aircraft's performance. It's main quality was its Red Top missiles which were decent, but otherwise it was a mediocre fighter and had a short career.
@@la_old_salt2241 😂
Don't be silly now.@@494Farrell
Looks like something out of Thunderbirds.
Yesss your right !! thanks for watching my video
Beautiful Aircraft
Thank you
Very elegant and unique design.
Meric
One of my top aircraft at the level of the J32 (that I followed more closely)
It is a very cool one !! thanks a lot for watching my Video
DH made some great twin boom fighters, Sea Vixen biggest and baddest of them all. Great to see them still flying, it's a pity she crashed, hope they get her flying again. Be a shame if she doesn't. But at least she's still alive.
Good to see those rare aircraft are kept flying..
Yessssss
Sehr geil! Noch nie gehört von der Sea Vixen, kannte bislang nur Venom und Vampire. Tolle Aufnahmen!
Das freut mich bis zu der Airshow kannte ich sie auch nicht, aber ich fand sie gleich sehr gut. Schon verrück was damals alles gebaut wurde.
Offensichtlich, ja. Bin auf das Video gestossen, weil ich grad zur Vampire was gesucht hatte (hab' grad ein Bild von der auf Instagram geladen). :-)
What an amazing plane
Thank you
Beautiful looking aircraft. Great design. I never knew this plane existed. Would be nice to see a modern evolution/version of it.
Yes that's a very classic aircraft. Thank you !! Happy New Year
@@MUCSpotter Happy New Year to you too 🍻
It's a little gem of a plane and fast too
+Robert Curtis thanks
OK that was awesome...
Thank you very much !!!!!!
So, so cool. Really great airplane. I'd love to see it at Oshkosh.
Thanks a lot !!! It is an amazing fighter, sadly no longer flying
The old gal had a lot of life in her in experienced hands
belo aviao
GREAT CAMERA WORK! THE PLANE WAS IN FRAME & IN FOCUS AT LEAST 50% OF THE TIME.
Thank you very much
I hate autofocus - it is rubbish!
Nice Video Bud :-)
scotrail82 Thank you
Amazing-looking plane, shame the spoilers stopped it going supersonic.
Yes !!
A monster!
Yesssss
First flight in 1951 and introduced in 1959. Crazy but this plane doesn’t look or fly like an old plane.
Hi , I love the Vixen, can someone kindly please tell me - the tanks on top of the wings, look as though they follow the camber of the wing, are they permanently fixed to the wing??
The Sea Vixen Mark 2 version was given elongated twin booms to house extra fuel tanks and avionics, all the Mark 2s started out as Mark 1s. And yes, they are a permanent fixture.
thanks Andrew, so the booms actually hold fuel regardless of the aircraft flying with drop tanks?
Yes, they do. There were also occasions when it was necessary to configure one of the drop tanks with a drogue that was used for in-flight re-fuelling. The conversions to the Mark 2 aircraft were carried out by De Havilland in Chester and RNAY (Royal Naval Aircraft Yard) Belfast. If you're interested I can e-mail or Facebook you a photograph of a Sea Vixen configured as a tanker aircraft about to be launched from HMS Victorious in 1964. I also have an Excel spreadsheet that gives a brief description of every Sea Vixen built and their final resting place. It was a difficult aircraft to fly and fatalities among the aircrew were high...I believe the attrition rate was somewhere around 40%, which for a peacetime career was horrifically high.
Slight error there, it was Hawker Siddeley that carried out the conversions in Chester and not De Havilland. For some reason, Google wouldn't let me edit my reply.
My favorite plane as a kid was the plane from Disney’s Talespin which this looks exactly like if you modernized with jets!! How cool is that
The symbol mark on the part corresponding to the national flag emblem is very similar to the Rising Sun in Japan. However, blue is not used for the Japanese mark.
A bit you are right !! thanks for watching my Video
@@MUCSpotter You are welcome. Thank you for entertaining the video.
Thank you for watching my video and your support !!!
Damn... that AF on your camera is damn quick...
Thank you, i hope you like the Video too
Yes... Great video... just the speed of the AF got me carried away there... :)
Why don't make it as UAV with new composite materials, in place of nose 2 counterrotating compressors with 3rd inline engine working at lower rpm? ( I am a newbie in planes, so it is only an idea... )
Why would you want to do that?
Cool plane. Although I'm not a fan of the offset cockpit. I love good symetry.
Thank you
OK Lefty))))
The pilot's cockpit was offset because the observer was seated to the right and a bit lower down than the pilot. The observer had a small window to the side and the hatch above him was flush with the fuselage.
no worries, I've JUST used Google - it's part of the twin-boom structure !!!! - keep flying VIXEN
with all the stuff (empennage) on that thing why didn't they find room for a cannon?might have been useful then.
Thanks for watching!!
Lovely aeroplane, such a pity seemingly no ones got the wherewithall to put it back where it belongs. i.e. flying
To bad they crashed the last fly able one. This airplane is very good looking.
You are 100% right !! Thanks a lot mate
that stabilizer looks more like a race car spoiler.
Ten years before they were used on racing cars though.
its like the bastard child of a P38 Lightning and an F-15
Aesthetically pleasing, yet real bi@tches to fly. Some of the prettiest designs , yet it shows beauty and being a great fighter are most often two different things. Such a gorgeous design to see in the air though.
Tks, nice vid, but next time, use manual focus and higher tripod for pro look :p
Pyro mark 2
OK, and thanks for watching my video
Like the vampire & sea venom could easily be shot out of the sky!!
Anyone else restart to see if it was xh558
XH558 is an Vulcan
MUC-Spotter indeed
Here are all together ua-cam.com/video/EgXkx-W-D2E/v-deo.html
MUC-Spotter I'm a fan of the Vulcan I wanted to check the number when the video loaded.
OK, i understand. Here I have a small Video of the Vulcan, maybe you like it. ua-cam.com/video/NflK88U9T5g/v-deo.html
What is the use for that offset canopy? It is indeed a very nice, eye catchy aircraft but that thing right on the top of the nose-midd fuselage. Why not a simple, standard, plain tandem?
The Sea Vixen was a two crew aeroplane. The pilot sat up there in the canopy and just below and to the right of the pilot sat the observer, who needed a dark space to operate the radar set. Google "Sea Vixen coal hole" and you'll see what I mean!
Thanks a lot WillFly 1, now I get it!.
Weird looking things werent they?
It is an Awesome Jet
I never said it wasnt did I
No you haven't done , all is ok

thank you very much
No no bueno
Thank´s
Looks like a bronco bomber with jet engines.
The pilots had to sneak up on the fuel trucks, they were so ugly.
No they aren't - you're just a blind fool
Pathetic comment.
Ugly pilots what can I say
Let's look at your mug shot let's all av a laugh lol
Idiot
Is it going in curculse then coming in too landing why do you keep blazing the screen makes my eyes feel funny that is also really high too and fast too that is like so fast cuircalling sounds very loud sounds like the plane is caucaling to landing but why are there cruise talking in the easy way and it looks like it's going too out of space and it landed yay
It is an amazing Plane
I hope British players are ready to get dunked on by Mig21's in this thing
