  • How to Set Up Wireless Speaker Sound using Shure QLXD
    I've made a previous video explaining how I use the Sennheiser G3 to have wireless speaker sound. In this video, I share with you a new way using the SHURE QLXD by demonstrating it on my Bose S1 speaker and my Bose T8S mixer.
    Thanks to my DJ friend, Jas from JAS Productions, for sharing this with me!
    In this video, I share with you the way how I provide wireless sound at my events today. I found this to be the most reliable and with zero dropouts.
    ALL GEAR LINKS:
    kit.co/djmojoe...
    POSITIVES:
    I love how easy it is to find the best channel and group.
    Signal reliability and distance are impressive.
    Great battery indicator showing 5 bars of battery life so when it drops down, you feel more comfortable that there's still plenty of power left. Compared to 3 bars displaying in other systems.
    If you're already using Shure QLXD for your microphones, it's easy to use it for wireless sound, as well.
    Battery life of the transmitter lasts a long time! Using Rechargeable AA Duracell batteries
    System can be used for transmitting wireless sound or as a wireless microphone.
    NEGATIVES:
    You still need power to power up the receiver. You can use a battery pack from csnl.com/ for this.
    You would also need to buy the Shure WA302 cable to connect the transmitter to your mixer.
    If you want to use the system interchangeably, you would need to make sure all your receivers and transmitters are using the same band.
    Price, it's pretty expensive.
    CONCLUSION:
    I already own this system for my wireless microphones, so it's been a good transition to trying this out. If you have the money for it, definitely give it a try. It serves two purposes of being a wireless mic system and a wireless speaker sound system.

    Terrific videoI--! f you buy the QLXD with the bodypack combo, the 1/4 to TA4F cable (Shure WA305 ) comes with the system, so no need to purchase separately. If you want to use XLR, that is a separate purchase from Shure.

      Hi Andrew, thank you! You may want an analog mixer instead of digital. I'm a fan of the Yamaha mixers because they have XLR outs. The MG06x is a good basic one (geni.us/YamahaMG06) or the MG10xu (geni.us/YamahaMG10). I think only the Bose Mixers are compatible with ToneMatch though. But you can still use the wireless transmitter and receivers. Just use the 1/4" out from the mixer and control them that way. Check out Shure (geni.us/ShurePSM900G6) and (geni.us/ShureP9RAG7). That's my new wireless setup now.

    I would definately use in ear monitor system to do that ! Shure PSM or Sennheiser G4 IEM. That would be cheaper and you just have to plug the receivers that works on AA batteries on the speakers instead of the QLXD receivers that are big on top of speakers, that need external batteries and that could fall.

      I think you can do as many as you want. I’ve used three receivers at once all to the same one transmitter and worked well. And theoretically, yes you can come out of a speaker output. And yes. I’m trying to use this Slx wireless system so that I can sing in either room and the sound comes out the same in both rooms. How would I do it? Can I connect slx4 receiver to mixer or amplifier in the living room and connect body pack to S1 pro? I sing via Bluetooth though. Thanks very much for your help.

    • @djmojoeofficial
      @djmojoeofficial  3 роки тому +1

      Yes exactly that’s the concept. But I think you have it reversed. The receiver connects to the speakers because you are receiving the sound. The bodypacks you mentioned are transmitters so you would need to connect one of them to your mixer to transmit the sound to your speakers. You would also just need the right cables to do that.
      The other system I heard are wireless monitors which the box unit is the transmitter and the bodypacks are receivers (the opposite) but still works.
      As long as receivers connect to speakers and transmitter connects to mixer

    • @djmojoeofficial
      @djmojoeofficial  2 роки тому

      Nice! The Bose T8S will definitely give you more options to how you want your sound to be, especially more control to your satellite speakers. I have an update on what I use now, it's the Shure PSM900 and the Shure P9RA receiver (kit.co/djmojoe/wireless-sound-kit-2-0-2021). Instead of the box unit as the receivers, the body packs are the receivers which makes things more compact and portable. Other DJs I know use the Sennheiser G4 which work, too. But after watching a video from Ben Stowe, the wireless in-ear monitor are the best to go. So instead of the in-ears that are connected to the body pack, I use the a 1/8" cable to male XLR cable to connect the body pack to the speaker. Works amazingly well and no drop outs!!

      Hi Tony, yes, you can have multiple receivers to 1 transmitter. I believe you want to keep it within the same system. Example: QLXD transmitter with QLXD receivers. But you can use other Shure systems, but make sure the transmitter and receivers are the same kind. If that makes sense.

Please and thanks!

    • @djmojoeofficial
      @djmojoeofficial  2 роки тому +1

      Without breaking the bank, this may work amzn.to/3AUfzR4
      From your 1st Bose S1 Speaker (Speaker A), you would connect the transmitter to the 1/4” out on the back of the S1 (You would probably need an adapter). Then connect the receiver to one of the inputs on the other Bose S1 Speaker (Speaker B). So this takes whatever comes out from Speaker A to be transmitted wireless to Speaker B.

    • @justinquinn7995
      @justinquinn7995 4 роки тому +1

      There is very little different between Sennheiser EW G3 and G4, in fact G3 and G4 components are interchangeable. The main difference with this system is that it's digital giving it a flatter frequency response and with a digital system you don't get the artifacts that are present with companding processes necessary in analog wireless. HOWEVER the EW system transmitters offer a higher transmitter power (30-50mw) whereas the QLXDs don't go over 10mw, so for long distances the EWs might be best. That being said, the QLXD systems when paired with directional antennas still go pretty far.

      I forget the model, but the light stand/speaker stand from them will work

      Yea, I heard great things about them too. I ordered mine from them a while back while they had the G3s, I had dropouts from them (I live in Los Angeles Area). I'm sure the G4s are better though. I use the Shure QLXD24 because I already own them as Microphones. I'm just repurposing them as Wireless Sound transmitters/receivers.
      How do you like the G4s? Any problems after having them?

    You think a different high end wireless system would work? For ex, I have the Audio Technica 3000 series.

      Yup! I think the same concept can be applied. Just can't guarantee the quality that there won't be any dropouts.

    I hope you tape the front screen of the shure so the people dont see the screen light up.

      Thanks for the suggestion. It's placed high enough so it isn't as noticeable, unless you're very tall lol.
