ABOUT ME: I was born March 06, 1992 in Nicaragua. I currently live in New Jersey, USA. I am an open-format Club and Mobile DJ. I enjoy making and sharing videos about my life as DJ and my travels around the world. I hope you find my videos entertaining. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
I've been doing gobos this way for years. I use DLP projectors that allow for better contrast setting vs LCD projectors which will make it harder to eliminate the square surround. Great idea on the ball head setup, I have always hung them with ceiling mounts and clamps upside down from a light bar. I use PowerPoint to make the gobos and save as JPG. Make several sizes so when you get to the venue you can pick which one works best on the target surface.
If you use PowerPoint with a black background, would that still happen ?
Please do the video on how to make the monograms and please make sure include the digital monograms as well!!!! Thanks and keep up the great work!
SV6Mustang photoshop for the win
What’s the best program for Mac book pro?
Eric DT gimp is free so is fusion 9 for video effects
Google it or search on UA-cam couple of smart guys already have it online videos . Otherwise you will have to suffer from screaming at you
I have been doing animated monograms for about 4 years now and have experimented a lot. With that said, the easiest thing that I have found so far is www.livinglightspro.com. You can easily select the template of the animation you would like, customize it with the color of the event (or upload a logo), and the website will send you the file in about 15 minutes. I think normally they provide one of the animations for free, if you would like to try it. The great thing is I have been able to sell the "free" download to my clients, which has allowed me to quickly pay off my projector.
I've been using the same setup for years and it's great since clients love it. The only difference with mine is I made my own mount. I use a $2,000 projector with high contrast ratio of 1:15,000 which eliminates the halo.
How do you set it up (contrast) what settings you use to get rid of it and what parts did you use to do mount. I think ppl are crazy paying 150 or more for that stupid thing
@@DJMishaGrin if the projector you buy or rent is high enough quality it will have a high contrast ratio. It comes standard on better models. As far as I know it's not a setting but I haven't experimented with those settings I just use a good quality projector. When I bought mine I made sure it had 1:15,000 ratio. I also have an led bulb. As far as the mount I used an old laptop stand and adapted it to be mounted on a 1.5 inch light stand. So my mount cost 25.00 plus 6.00 for a 1.5 speaker stand adapter. I didn't like the idea of paying 150.00 USD for a mount either. When I first started I just rented the projector since the rental place in my area rents $2,000 projectors for $75.00. The laptop stand is metal and strong. It moves up and down to give me any angle and the speaker mount spins so I get any direction. I also use two screws to attach the projector to the laptop stand through predrilled holes. The stand is black so it blends in and works perfectly. I originally bought the stand at Walmart 20 years ago and it is still working perfectly. I can send you a picture of the mount if you want. Just give me an email address or if I get a chance I'll make a video of it for UA-cam.
How do you make the monogram?
@@jorgeaortiz7221 I use www.livinglightspro.com. It is super easy to use, in-expensive, and you can customize it.
Hello what kind of project it is?
6:56 you shouldn't really pull the power cable out of a projector like that as it can damage the lamp. That's why when you normally turn it off it has a Cool down cycle.
I was going to say the same thing! It is very important to let the projector power down on its own. Also, you can check the lamp life in the settings menu so that you can track how much life is left of the bulb.
Jack's Tech you can damage the main board too without the cool down cycle
I believe LED bulbs are different from the traditional lamp bulbs so it's ok to turn off the LED ones but I'm only guessing with that thought. I could be mistaken.
These Epson 3LCD models are made with instant off functions. There is no cool down time required at all.
i did that :(
You should also check to make sure that the projector has adjustable tombstone and keystone features so then you can angle your projector. Epson projectors are good for this.
Garrett B exactly what I commented before I read your comment! Same here
Soooooo much info is missing from this video. I feel like it was made just to make a video
I use an iPad connected to the projector. I have an app that let's me resize Images from angles.
Thats what I actually asked above so it doesn't come out warped looking
You never stop surprising...Wow
I have this exact projector which I purchased if Client wants to project photos and all... But as most venues give Projectors in the package ...it was lieing idle.....I was however thinkin of buying an expensive GOBO....THANKS MAN YOU MADE MY DAY....ALL I NEED IS TO GET THE BELOW:
MOUNT,
MONOGRAM DESIGN,
STAND❣️💐
THANK YOU VERY MUCH DJ Bayardo🙏🏻🇮🇳
BTW for anyone who cares, he is actually using an "Epson 1940w" projector. I bring this up because it is 1000 lumens brighter than that listed in the description. Thanks for the video
DJChristo3lektric that’s what I’m wondering the the link is a non HD less lumen one
I bought the one he recommended and it was garbage. It was near impossible to make look good.
Hi, very informative and entertaining video presentation!☺ The "halo" as you called it, or gray surround appears because the black is not deep enough. Projectors have that capacity to eliminate it by using DLP projectors, albeit costlier. However often times , depending on how many lumens you have, you can use LED up lights on either side of surface wall, it may help reduce visual of gray box surround...
I'm not sure if anybody's ever told you this before, but you would benefit greatly by switching out your usual black and white shock effect with just a little zoom in.
Lots of other creators use this to create emphasis on certain statements where to just keep the audience's attention.
In the event that you do find yourself saying something shocking or controversial, the black and white effect would be suited and a nice break from the more serious talks. It also works great with your flashback clips.
Hope that helps! Good luck! Your the best DJ in the biz! Love your work!
Actually just sold my first monogram add on for a 2020 wedding... wasn’t sure of what my options were.... this video is right on time
Congrats!! That is awesome! If this is your first time experimenting with this my suggestion would be to set it up and experiment at home. Note: Don't make the room that you are projecting the monogram in to dark because this will not be realistic to your event. Try the projector at many different angles because you will need to be able to understand how to properly keystone the projector (most new people do not do a good job on this and it shows at the event. Master it and get good at it because it is a rare situation to project straight on). Once you understand that, my next suggestion would be to work on understanding how to remove the gray box around the monogram. There is several different ways of doing this but one of the easiest ways is to add ambient lighting near where the monogram will be projected, such as 2 up lights on either side of the monogram. My final suggestion is to know what the client is looking for by really understanding the client. If you are creating animations, I would suggest trying to learn Adobe After Effects. But it does take a LONG time to learn this and use it effectively. With that said, I have personally made a lot of money by using pre-created templates and then modifying them. My clients love them and I can easily create them. The software I have been using is called www.livinglightspro.com. You simply select the template you would like (after you preview it does), add your text information, change the color of the font or image to the "wedding colors" and maybe add a PNG file to really personalize it. Then in about 15 - 20 minutes you will receive an email that will allow you to download the animation. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
This was awesome thank you for sharing the mount looks awesome and the media player AWESOME.
Nice
Another outstanding video Brother! That video mount is straight fire. Thank you for sharing. Much appreciated! Cheers - DJ GUNZ
The higher the lumen output (brightness) and the higher contrast ratio projectors will not give you the gray box around your design.
This is pretty important. Check the specs. LCD models typically have far lower contrast ratios(mine is 3000:1) than DLP models which get up to 20000:1 contrast ratio. Basically, you can read this as "if I have a pure black and pure white image on the screen, the white will be twenty-thousand times brighter than the black".
Try making the gobo as a PNG file clear back round . That may get rid of the halo affect
Your videos are the best bro!💯🔥
Bogos remind me of the school projectors that teacher's had i want those for nostalgia +affects...ill draw live on that...lols
I need that link for the wall locking plug plz #gamechanger
It's perfect. I ordered it to my country (Hungary). Its not possible on the web, but they are very friendly. So it's on the way! Thx 4 the idea!
DjBarr.... My Hero! Thank you sir, your videos are informative and to the point. Looking forward to a video on VJing soon! 🎥🎥👍
I believe the halo effect you mention is caused by contrast ratio that projector only has a 3,000:1- a better solution would be a projector with at least 10,000:1 or above and that difference in contrast would not be noticeable a good projector would be the Optoma - HD143X with 23,000:1 that's only $399 and would be a good fit and its HD 1920 x 1080P
There was a vid u did with a 3 prong wall pluh that screwed to lock to the socket forgot the vid bit need the link super bad...had a gig where a kid liked to pull the plugs...no one was stopping the maniac
You always an early adopter! Always great Ideas. And great spender 💵*(investor) Thanks for the tips!
Can you make a video on how to make the logos
Please
It's fairly easy...you can use a FREE tool like canva.com to create something (they have some great templates too). You want to make sure the background is black and the text and other stuff is white, or some other contrasting color. Keeping it simple is best though...
And this time... *NO HALOS!!!* Thank you.
Rick Watson woooow that was one of my questions that i was about to asked it.. but thanks for the answer I already knew!
Carson you can make the logos in any photoshop type software. I use a free program called paint.net and it is pretty easy.

Yo Barr, for cocktail and reception speakers I really like and recommend the TeachLogic Titan Neo PA-800. I think you should get a pair because they have builtin wireless mics, wireless speaker daisychaning, and rechargeable batteries. I use them and they are great for outdoor resection and beach weddings. @djbarr
So far ive taken your advice for startup company hope to get that money
Barr if you be so kind and leave the links for the gravity stands and pole that would be great!
I actually found it... it's the... Gravity Stand SSP WB Set 1... I found it on B&H.
I like a color monogram
Strike GOBO from the title and its accurate!
I've been using the ZTE Spro2. Android based touch screen based
Check out Projectorgram. It’s the future
Elyi Pierre projectorgram is great for motion! I make my own static ones. Currently learning motion ones ;)
Elyi Pierre I’ve been using fusion 9
Projectorgram is good but personally I like www.livinglightspro.com. You can create the animation yourself and it will get emailed to you in about 15 - 20 minutes. In addition, it costs less.
Barr I really want you to use hologram fans on top of totems to have 3D images rotation on top of totems.. examples like couple dancing or 3D image of your logo
Отличная идея
Awesome video.. Thanks run down..
Try using a PNG , Should get rid of the grey background because JPEGs can't have any transparency, whereas a PNG can.
Can you please specify which option from the drop down menu???
Love this Barr! I am looking to get into videoing my events to use for marketing, and I was wondering if one has to get permission from the bride and groom along with the guests to get video? Or can one just get permission from the bride and groom and not worry about asking the guests? Thanks, keep up the good work.
Thanks for the discount code :D
Hi,
what is important when buying a projector, I want to buy a used one, is the lumen important or the resolution?
regards marc
Hey brother, great video. I used your code, thanks for that one. Really interested in the next video on how to make the animated monograms. Hook a brother up! lol. Sending much respect from sunny Tampa, FL.
Barr, Thank you for making these videos!!! Any experience on video mapping?
I hit your link to the mount but there are 14 options from the drop down menu and I find it confusing. I don't want to order the wrong thing. Can you tell me exactly what you ordered from there? I just need the exact two pieces you just showed us but not the stand.... do they come together? Thanks in advance!
Have you ever used your projector personal use like watching movies
I like, have too look into this thanks
Are you still using a projector or are you back using the IKON unit? I'm adding an add on for my upcoming weddings. I don't like the idea of having to rely on getting GOBOs manufactured each time but I'm not in love with the Halo effect. Which worked for you long term?
Can you tell us what program to use for the animated monogram?
Tutorial on how to do it?
Would love to learn how
Hey, I make motion Monograms with a very inexpensive program called Powerdirector. Any video editing program will work.
I would recommend a few things: Buy an LED projector so you don't have to replace the globe, and it doesn't need to 'heat up'. If you have a DLP or older projector PLEASE don't pick it up or move it while its operating, it can completely destroy the 'Color wheel', fans or the Globe.
What LED projector would you suggest?
Awesome video Barr!! Would you have the link for the projector stand to take a look at it... I would appreciate it. Keep it up!
Is on the video description
Gracias por la informacion.
What do you use to create the the monograms
You have a link to that case for the projector?
the link you linked for the projector is not the same projector it takes to the Epson Epson VS250 SVGA 3,200 lumens
hi price question: i noticed that djs usually charge about 250 for a monogram buying the gobo. how much would you charge if using the projector as you dont need to spend with the gobo? same price or less? how much more would be for animated gobos? thanks
As a nation wide avg. I would say the average cost is about $200 for the animated version. However depending on how "customized" the animation is, I have seen them sell for upwards of $400.
Can you please explain how to get the image on the scree it’s just a black and white image
Maybe I missed it.. What is the plus to using the media player? Couldn't you just use a laptop?
Interesting but to be honest I’m glad it’s not a thing in the UK 😎🎧👍🏻
So bored of watching normal TV shows so I am rewatching all these videos like it's a Box set 🤣
Hi
Can you tell me what is the case you use . I got the same projector. Like your videos. Thx.
What projector do you recommend and that is very powerful?
This is what I do too!!! 🙌🏽
DJ Alpha are you currently using the VS250? If so can u see some examples.
Nice review by the way always :) so I have a question off the subject but do have a video on how to organize music files on serato or Virtual DJ just wondering thanks.
Do you have a video showing how to make a gobo?
Why do you don't use the projector for live visual with resolume/arkaos ?, i think it's more awesome
Did you connect the mount to a regular speaker stand
Is this the VS250 that’s on the link or a better one. Cause the specs on that link a lot of pros do not recommend.
How do you make the monograms? Photoshop?
The monograms can be made in many different programs... like photoshop. However, if you want them monograms to be animated, it's best that you use a program like Adobe After Effects. I will say though there is a learning curve to that program, so don't expect to just buy the program and be able to quickly create animations. Personally I love using www.livinglightspro.com. It is quick and easy to use and you can even customize the animations by adding colors, text, and even sometimes PNG files. The animations are in-expensive to purchase and the files are emailed directly to you after they are done being created. Hope this helps!
Awesome video Barr! You forgot to mention the benefit of using an Epson is they have the horizontal shift positioning in the event that you are not straight on to the wall you are projecting on. I use the epson projectors as well simply because of that benefit. A lot of projectors dont have that option. Big ups to Epson!! Keep up the good work bro!
Hey Barr, are you still using the projector in video, or do you have another one you or anyone else recommends. Ideally under $600 thanks.
How does the keystone work when not projecting strait onto a wall?
Where can I buy the mount projector, stand and all the attachments?
I love sx2 is best
What stand are you using for the projector?
I have this same setup and I love it. Curious to know what everyone charges their clients for static gobos and for animated gobos?
same question!
$150 for static. Never have sold an animated gobo though. Can't say every customer pays full price for it though. It's an easy way to seal a deal though.
As a nation wide avg. I would say the average cost is about $200 for the animated version. However depending on how "customized" the animation is, I have seen them sell for upwards of $400. As another option though, you can tell your client that you are giving them a "free" $200 gift when they sign up and it helps earn the business. But it is extra work, especially if you are creating your own animations.
Dj Barr. What program you using to make the monogram?
Any video or photo editing program will work.
if you used a DLP projector that would get rid of the light box.
HOW CAN I REMOVE THE BKACK/GRAY BOX FROM THE IMAGE BEHIND?
THANKS!
Higher lumens and a higher contrast ratio will help but you also will have less of a box if your not trying it in your home from 10 ft away. Try it at a local venue and if needed adjust some of the settings in your projector. Alot is based on wall color as well. Lastly a couple uplights on the edges will help hide I if needed
@@KrisSzanto
Ok cool thanks brotha
which mount did you pruchase? the exact options
I do have a viewsonic projector, but I dont know how to display a monogram from this projector. It has a mini USB port. Can You help me?
Where you get the case for the projector?
Do you still use projectors for your monograms
hello from France
I wanted to know how you made the monogram?
Thank you
Laurent
Hi Laurent, Monograms are easy to make at home with any photoshop type of program. You can find many free ones as well that will get the job done.
Is the projector LED.
Eres mi tocallo me llamo igual dj bar
Hey question what is the resolution for monogram is to be use when buying the digital monogram? please advice thanks
I usually make it 1080p 300dpi
@@BayardoRugama Thanks
How to project at an angle without that warped look ?
what resolution are you using yo make the jpegs on the usb?
where do you make your personal gobos?
I use designmantic. It's a free website. You can download a png image and paste it on a black background.
As I mentioned above, try www.livinglightspro.com. It has been a great resource for my business
I just thought up something. Instead of waiting for gobos, buy a 3d printer. You can get the Creality Ender 3, for about $200, then just print out the gobos on demand.
Not suggested due to the heat that gets expelled from the fixture
Unless you making metal printing Otherwise you didn't make any sense
@@DJMishaGrin You can print in abs which has a melting point of about 446 f.
The projector suggested in this video is not very good. I got one and it was a waste of time and money trying to get it to look good. The box never really went away. Look at the ones suggested in projectorgram.com.
Bonjour, vous parlez français ?
first comment love the vids keep it up
Hello how can I make the monogram gobos ?
The quickest and easiest way to produce these (that I have found) is a website called www.livinglightspro.com. You can select the template that you/ your client would like, customize it by changing the colors or upload logo's and add your text. Then the website will send you a file via email or you can download it on the site. I think the sign up is still free and they allow you to download a free animation. Hope this helps!
Any photo or video editing program will work.
You SHOULD be using the moving head projector fixture, all the PROS use it!! Can’t remember model number
Just to put my two cents in you might disagree but all that work time and money spent just mount two 4K TV
This projector is now close to $600 -___-
2:15 you need a projector that has 3500-4000+ lumens
the one hes using is 4200 lumens
For a sound guy. Yoir sound is all of the place. Your intro music is way to hot and your voice is way to quiet.
0 information so much misinformation. Nothing about lumens, nothing about monograms, my head hurts now from all tje screaming :/
What additional questions do you have? Personally lumens don't really mean much. This ultimately depends on the effect that you are trying to create. I have seen people use 800 lumen projectors that have worked great for what was needed. As for monograms, you can use a ton of different programs to create these. I use Adobe After Effects which allows for (IMO) the most functionality when creating these. The down side is it comes with a monthly cost and a pretty significant learning curve. As an example, my first animation took 9 hours to create and personally I still think it was pretty basic. Since then I started using www.livinglightspro.com. This has saved me a ton of time and my clients love it. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Higher the Lumens the better.. 4,000:1 contrast ratio or better will help to eliminate the box but there are other factors as well. Wall color and distance from the wall also play a big part. Most projectors will give you some wall color options as well. You must play around a bit to really figure out how your projector will work best. Also a couple uplights on the edges doesnt hurt. :) Hope this helps a little.
