All due respect, I think Jesse may be underestimating the extraordinary talent soon to arrive in Norman, aka "The Great Eight". Even for OU's very high standards & expectations, we've really got multiple exceptional players coming in (Thank goodness because they're replacing legends.) Look at what Ella Parker and Kasidi Pickering did as 'inexperienced' freshmen. Patty and company will mold this group into another monster, and if we land Nijaree, fuggetaboutit!!
@@Happy_bestie1234 On Google type: "Softball signs eight for 2024 - University of Oklahoma" . The article that pops up should be from sooner sports. Read all about the incoming eight, particularly what Patty has to say about each player.
I agree. Sydney Romero, Shay Knighten, Caleigh Clifton, and Fale Aviu replaced a great senior class that included Lauren Chamberlain, Shelby Pendley, Georgia Casey, Callie Parsons. They went out and won the NC their freshman and sophomore years, finished in the final 4 their junior year and runner up to UCLA their senior year. Then they were replaced with Kenzie Hansen, Rylie Boone for the covid year and then Coleman, Jennings and May. The rest is history, but some of these "new" softball reporters only know history since 2021.
My concern is infield. Pitchers - Patty and Coach Rocha will train, groom and utilize their (6) pitchers throughout the regular season to prep them for the post-season. I'm not looking pass the pitcher, but 3B, SS, 2B and C can't be played by committee. One bobble or error means a base runner or an unearned run. 3B Brito, SS Jennings, 2B Hodge / Torres, and C Hanson are gone. For the '25 season, 'who' is going to reliably fill those critical positions is a legitimate question. With #82 Avery Hodge (portal) and #40 Alynah Torres (eligibility) leaving, someone new will anchor 2B and SS. Maybe a freshman will fill those two spots... maybe? As a freshman, Avery needed more work before she became so reliable at SS. I was spoiled by the outstanding talent of Grace Lyons, OU SS 2023. Tiare ably moved from 2B, leaving SS for Avery and Alynah to fill. I think OU gained a good pickup with Isabela Emerling C out of UNC - but that's experience. With 10 seniors (5-7 starters) leaving, next year will be the unveiling of a whole new OU team. Who knows, maybe we'll talk about them as champions too?
Have you seen our 2025 class? All 6 are ranked in the top ten out of the top 100. College softball experts are calling it the best ridiculous class ever. Even better than this class and Jennings and Colemans class . It includes the 2 top pitchers in the country one is Riley Zach's sister Berkley. So look out.
@@tylermccomas08 @billyjamison5265 I figure that any team that she transfer to will have a much better offense than Stanford's. She'll deliver 2 championships to any team that can consistently give her 2 runs/gm of support in the WCWS. Without Nijaree Canady, Stanford had absolutely no business being in the WCWS or even the playoffs. Consider that: 1) They had the 109th ranked scoring offense in the nation. 2) Canady had to throw almost every inning of the playoffs because their other pitchers gave up 20 runs in 7.1 innings in the regional. 3) In the 4 games that Stanford lost in the WCWS in 2023 and 2024, they scored a total of 2 runs. 4) Teagan Kavan held them to a total of 2 hits and zero runs in 14 innings.
Florida is losing Erickson I believe. I think she hit as many, and maybe more home runs against the Sooners than anyone on her team. I don't think she hit as well in Norman as she did in 17:28 Florida. My point is the Sooners still have Parker and Pickering and Sanders that are big hitters. Without Rothrock Florida would not have been in that ball game. She was coming apart due to over use near the end of the Second consecutive game she pitched, I can't remember who it was againit. Either. Alabama or Tennessee or might have even been the Sooners was her second game I don't remember.
Nijaree would be the best edition for O.U. If she chooses elese where I still give the Sooners as good of a chance as any team to win it all. Why ?? Because of Patty for sure and Jen and J.T. Nijaree would benefit greatly from Jen. J.T. will improve the batting and the new talent O.U. will get. There is alot of practice time until next season and the Sooners always have an impeccable infield. My last reason is SUCCESS BREED SUCCESS !!!!!
If I was a college athlete in a sport with no pro league to aspire to, then I would value NIL near the top. Would have to be nice to have a cushion when you have to go out into the real world.
Eh, if we get her great, if not, we'll be fine. I know this, if Patty does sign her, the collective softball world will melt down out of outrage like Chernobyl. That's almost as good as her joining the team.😋
well if she dont go to ou it wont be to texas either after bozo mike white threw his pitching staff under the bus in post game ....so who does that leave florida or a&m??....good luck with those teams lol
No shot , she was asked by the OU coached if she would consider leaving way before she thought about entering the portal . It started by ou contacting her parents .
Coaches and schools don’t even need to do that now, these players have agents, and she has the same agent as 18 OU players, and the players themselves know each other. It would be easy to get word to any school or coach without the coach contacting any player first, which I believe is the only way it’s considered “illegal”, and there is no doubt that is pretty much gone in todays college sports.
ALL OF YOU COMMENTATORS, are talking as if OU freshman class will not matter, and are concentrating on one player only ,may i remind you people that JORDY BAHL did not make a difference in NEBRASKA , SO who is to know if CANADY will make a difference at OU nobody knows , so STOP TALKING ABOUT CANADY AS OU SAVIOUR

Jesse that argument can't hold water. I wish it did, but Canady will be the "star" wherever she goes. Begging her to come to OU because "we need her" is tremendously weak! Even if she comes to OU, that still won't make the Sooners #1 in the pre-season polls based on the all the holes needing to be filled. If she goes to Texas (or even Florida) they will be considered #1., and that is her #1 desire ... to win a National Championship. I hope I am wrong, but I don't think I am.

Booomer!!! Come on Canady!
if she is taking her time that helps us. that means she is not making a primarily financial decision. we can offer the experience of a lifetime.
We can also offer the best college softball pitching coach in the nation. Jennifer Rocha
When will the decision be made and announced?
No clear timeline. Could be a couple of weeks.
