- Well well, here we are... A single person commented that he wanted me to make this, so I made it, you're welcome. I have no idea how many views this will get, I don't really care. Now that I've grown a small audience I would like to make content for you guys, it would suck subscribing to someone expecting something and not getting anything.
Please comment if you have any ideas for future videos, I read all my comments. I think I might try to make some Total War videos in this same meme format.
Also, I can't create community posts since I have a warning on this channel, so the only way I can communicate with you guys is through the UA-cam comments or maybe Twitter.

If only 1204 didn't completely cripple the Roman Empire
Actually the Roman Empire was desintegra9ting before the Sack of Constantinople. There is a reason why the latins didn't occupied some of the former roman territories. The reason is taht parts of Anatolia, Peloponnese, some osEpirus, Thesaly and some island were ruled by warlords.
@@juanducas6967 well I'm aware, but 1204 was the big nail in the coffin of the Roman empire. After then I believe another sack of Constantinople was inevitable

After that he blinded John IV Laskaris, the ACTUAL emperor, tossed him in a monastery and thus alienating the anatolian military aristocracy. Soon after, all of Anatolia was lost. Good job, Mike.

Yeah, he was a terrible man. I don't think that it was all lost after his reign, however. Andronikos III Palaiologos was pretty decent. Chances are the Empire could've transformed into the Greek Nation state we know today, but with Constantinople as the capital. But then they just had to have another devestating civil war and the absolutely terrible reign of John V.
@@lordofhostsappreciator3075 no, he wasn't the worst. In fact, even after everything he did, he was among the best the Palaiologoi had to offer. Right after the conquest of Constantinople, the empire was at its strongest. But due to his usurpation, he lost the anatolian aristocracy's loyalty. Also, his policy was to secure the west more, since the biggest threats at that time were the new second bulgarian empire and a newly formed serbian empire. Compared to these, what could a tiny Beylic at the border do, right? To top all of this, the komnenian pronoia system, whatever was left of it, was abandoned in favor of a western feudal one. Spoiler: it did not go well.

Well Russia was indeed a "bit" to Greedy when they tried that one, taking over the whole Balkan essentially under its thumb aside from Greece with access to Mediteraniean sea.

Sadly, Michael VIII fell in disgrace and his policies in Anatolia were some of the main reasons it was lost.
He also blinded the legitimate emperor who was ~12 year old, he also sold the Orthodox faith to avoid another crusade and to gain military assistence (it never came).
I was hoping this was looking for volunteers to take it back today. Oh well maybe next year ..
