Egyptian here. We didn’t lose to Israel in 1973. They had the better equipment and the support of USA. But we won and took back our land. I don’t care what the statistics say, Israel would’ve never given our lands back if they had won. We even took Taba back because Israel understands that Egyptians will truly fight to the last man to keep our lands. 1973 was the true last hurrah for the Arabian nations. Those were just three countries with an extra oil tanker from Iran. Imagine what would happen if the 22 Arab countries unite?

In summary...
Actually, what happened is that Egypt was never planning to take the entire Sinai through war as it doesn't have the war machines to do so at that time. They had less capable war machines than Israel. They still kicked their ass though. You go, Egypt 🎉
The plan was to make the cost of the war so high for Israel that they are forced to negotiate the return of Sinai.
That was the objective of the war in 1973, and it was achieved, and Sinai was fully returned to Egypt. Egypt also knew that if the war prolonged, it would then be fighting with America and not just Israel.
I mean, the first hour of the war, Egypt destroyed the Bar Lev Line, which was said by Western military experts, that it would require many nuclear bombs to destroy it. Yet it was destroyed using water 😂. The ingenious idea came from Baki Zaki Youssef - RIP, an Egyptian officer.
The outcome here is that Egypt achieved its objectives, and Israel lost the war. Israel would have never returned Sinai even if Egypt had managed to make pigs fly.
Israel only understands the language of war as we have seen over the past 80 years.
