what other artist could have alternate versions every bit as beautiful as the official release? Coastal Town became Closer You Are, Tractor Rape Chain was originally part of a suite that became Propeller...just brimming creativity.
Maybe I hurt you bad baby Maybe I won't come back I've always loved you just as much And as I never hurt you back Maybe I'm just no good baby Maybe I'm just a man But never travel just sometimes One man must make his plan To be far away Far away from here Sleep away for me And carry on in your carousel of pain Look at someone new in me Hope that we find the truth It's hard enough to go into someone for you Maybe it's just as one Didn't get out of the band I'll try to make it easier I'm doing all I can But I'm far away Far away from here Sleep away for me And carry on in your carousel of pain Oh carry on in your carousel of pain Sleep away for me And carry on in your carousel of pain WE LOVE YOU ROBERT
my best guess would be sometime in the mid-late 80s (1987ish?) - this sounds a lot like stuff he was doing in that time period, such as tracks like i'm cold or united.
It does sound Byrds-y. AND it features both the words "carry" and "carousel," both of which remind me of ua-cam.com/video/sgA4-bLcoN8/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/5XRjp7vClT8/v-deo.html both which were written by Graham Nash of The Hollies and later...The Byrds!
This song is absolutely beautiful. Blows my mind how many people have never heard it
I first heard it 29 years ago

@@ghosttt.wallls bet! thanks for the tip.
Bob really has a way with words and melody
Maybe I hurt you bad baby
Maybe I won't come back
I've always loved you just as much
And as I never hurt you back
Maybe I'm just no good baby
Maybe I'm just a man
But never travel just sometimes
One man must make his plan
To be far away
Far away from here
Sleep away for me
And carry on in your carousel of pain
Look at someone new in me
Hope that we find the truth
It's hard enough to go into someone for you
Maybe it's just as one
Didn't get out of the band
I'll try to make it easier
I'm doing all I can
But I'm far away
Far away from here
Sleep away for me
And carry on in your carousel of pain
Oh carry on in your carousel of pain
Sleep away for me
And carry on in your carousel of pain
WE LOVE YOU ROBERT
