I bought the digitizer for like 30 dollars and followed steps in the video. Got my touch screen working again although the screen was not damaged. The dealer was charging 2500 dollars for a new radio.

2019 Outlander. Followed these instructions to the letter, and while it seemed a little harder to complete it has worked perfectly. My touch screen had failed completly and could only use radio through steering controls. Now it it as good as new, for the price of a new touch screen on ebaly. Thanks heaps!

This video helped me about 90% of the way, but any tips on the version with knobs? Are the to be purchased with a new Digitizer or can the same ones be removed and reused with a new digitizer? There are no videos on YT University about the version with knobs and removing them.
Great video really down to earth. Makes it easy to follow. The whole video would have been completely ruined if you would not have used the F-Word.

I note that the replacement piece has a different button layout than the original one, e.g. there is SETTINGS button in lieu of PHONE button. Actually all touchscreens available for purchase seem to have this SETTINGS button on the left.
Does this make any difference in how the head unit works?

Hi: The touch screen is otherwise known as a "digitiizer." It's not "just" a clear cover. Therefore, cleaning it won't fix it!
Worked without any issues. Was not a difficult repair at all.
Might I ask, how was the removal of the old adhesive that held the old digitizer in place? I found a reputable place to get the digitzer I need for mine for about $200, but saw your comment and wanted to know any tips/tricks since you have done this since the video.

Yes 99% of the time the touchscreen is bad
the Mitsubishi radios have a common problem with the touchscreen going bad
Awesome. Mine just went. I hooked up a mouse to it and it works. Will pulling battery cables off. Will this work to reset it?
@@ronrosati8896. The only other possibility, though it doesn't happen frequently, is a blown fuse. The fuse box can be accessed while you're in the driver's seat. It's just to the left of the steering column. Remove the "door" and you're in! Good luck
I am having trouble getting my ribbon cable clasp to close as easily as seen on you install in at 7:12, any advise? I can get the unit to power up but the screen is still unresponsive i feel it is because of this cable.
So there’s been a lot of Touchscreens out there on the market that people have been selling and they’re really really cheap we think the cheap Touch-screens are causing the issue or this issue is already there.
What I’ve seen so far is about 20 radios and there’s this chip that explodes a really small chip

The plastic piece that covers the radio and the two vents can be removed VERY easily using any plastic tool (in the basic shape of a plastic knife). DO NOT USE ANYTHING OTHER THAN PLASTIC, AS YOU COULD DO DAMAGE. Simply insert the plastic tool in the space between that which you are looking to remove and the rest of the dashboard. There are several clips to "un-clip," and you're in.

Yes, under the assumption that the vehicle is still within the 36 months since purchased! My digitizer/touch screen failed in the 38th month! ⏳😥
i did this repair this wekend and the touch screen works, radio works but the screen is white. any idea of what caused this?
Your ribbon cable is not straight

You just pull them off
Sometimes it’s really hard, to pull the knobs off, just use a pair of pliers, but put a rag over the knob, so you don’t scratch the knobs

I have the same exact radio but I have the knobs on mine. Does anyone know of any way easy I could take off the knobs?
Removing the two knobs is as easy as simply getting hold of each one with your fingertips and pulling each one straight out! Nothing fancy about removing them.
