How do you know when to turn while flying a traffic pattern? Like if you took off onto the upwind leg, hope do you know when to turn onto the crosswind leg? Or the crosswind onto the downwind etc?

I turn crosswind once I’ve reached 500ft at Vy but some fields have noise abatement like my home airport, where I turn at 850ft MSL. You turn downwind when you’re about half a mile off the runway, and base when the numbers are 45° off your side. You would have started configuring for landing when you were abeam those numbers.
