This definitely isn't copied, they've always had the landing calculator - even in flypadOS V2 since I think as far back as last year. With the runway and everything. Like someone else in the comments said, it was in the docs for a really long time as well. I'm not sure if it's intentional but it's pretty disrespectful to make this accusation.
The FlypadOS3 has been in the experimental branch for a long time, way before the Fenix was released and to be frank, I find it a bit disrespectful to the FBW guy's that you accuse them of copying Fenix :/
I don't think they copied, because these features were in the FBW experimental version before Fenix released. This new update just moved them over to the development version.
@@hochmaniac it's just the look of the real world counterparties apps that are layed out like this with the display of the distances on a runway on the right side
They did not copy a thing. If you were using the Experiential version, you would of seen this all before the Fenix was released. Nobody copied anybody.
If you say that FBW copied the Fenix EFB then you need to point out that Fenix copied the ipad UI as they are the exact same. Also as a lot of people pointed out a lot of stuff such as the landing calculator app was present on FlypadOS v2 so making such a bold accusation it's kinda risky. And again if you want to say that FBW copied Fenix (wich they didn't) then you also need to point out that Fenix copied IniBuilds EFB as the landing calculator has a really similar interface, and the first iteration of the ini EFB was released in 2020. Please the next time before making this sort of statements inform yourself correctly as it will help you to avoid the negative comments that I'm seeing below. Cheers
I really like your video content, always honest and fair. Like another great content creator, 2020 Fs'ers, you guys got a real talent to create fun and dynamic youtube content. Thanks for sharing the new EFB capabilities
You're right they didn't copy these features. These features were in the FBW experimental version before Fenix released, this new FBW update just moves them over to the developmental version.
The FBW does everything I need for a good flight experience. Their sounds are definitely better. I don't feel the need to crack open my wallet for the Fenix. Kind of wished they'd developed another Airbus type to add more variety to MSFS plane offerings. The eventual FBW A380 will do just that.
Thanks for sharing Hoch!!! Learned a few new things about the FBW FlyPad that I didn’t know existed (haven’t upgraded since the PMDG 737 came out). Really appreciate you putting together some talking points about the differences between the FBW and Fenix EFB. I’ve really enjoyed the Fenix more so far, but it’s close. Both are fantastic and will only get better over time! One thing I hope will come is the ability to run the FBW EFB on an iPad or Tablet. That feature has proven invaluable to me so far. Take care and look forward to your next video!!!
I’m glad for the FBW mod. Great implementation of the A320. Fenix is not bad also. More power to these geniuses making sim flying a reality. I hope they keep the competition, it’s only gonna make them better, copied or not, and give us better choices.
These features were in the experimental version EFB way before Fenix release. This new release is just the experimental EFB going to development version...
I wish you would have done proper research prior to throwing baseless accusations. These EFB features have been tested (and available) of the FBW A32NX Exp Versions for weeks prior to the Fenix release ! Please be fair to the FBW Team, don’t be an arse, and clearly indicate that you “screw up”
I never actually said FBW copied Fenix, just posted the question. I simply presented the update and spent the entire video praising the great features the new update has. Given the timing of the announcement (same week as Fenix came out), it was simply interesting. I love what the FBW folks have done and my videos have consistently praised the work.
All those features including the performance calculators were on their experimental versions long before Fenix was released. So since FBW would not have access to Fenix, but Fenix had access to the FBW experimental versions, so if there was copying (and I'm not saying there was) it would be more likely Fenix copying FBW.
I think a bit of the misunderstanding stems from FBW itself. The release they did makes it sound as if these are never before seen features and one can reasonably assume such if they aren’t plugged in on the experimental version. He does mention in his video that most of these features were already included in the experimental version but yes, the video title is total clickbait. I still love his videos so get over yourself, haters. FBW has raised the bar in EFB features and hopefully fossil developers *cough* PMDG */cough* will get their junk together and figure out how to make something comparable.
Almost makes the Fenix not worth purchasing. Better off buying the 737 PMDG considering there is no good free or cheap version of that like the a320 :)
As always, great video... To be honest, I don't care if they copied it... it was going to happen... I still have not bought the Fenix, simply because I believe in the team at FBW and the roadmap looks interesting... the only con of the FBW for me is the lack of separation of the MCDUs (which they are working on), once that happens, the Fenix will be a distant memory...
FBW is working on seperating both the FMGCs entirely, which is a lot lot more work than just 2 instances of the same FMGC on 2 MCDUs which other addons simulate, excited times ahead for FBW, and yes, I have not bought the Fenix yet (and not interested at all either)
FBW had been working on this for a while prior to the Fenix being released. You should inform yourself before making comments such as those in the video.
Lol this is probably the most clickbait video thumbnail of all time. Their older flypadOS 2 had the landing calculator since like 2021. It’s even in their docs between the two versions. Smh. Anything for a click.
@@hochmaniac It's blantatly false. Maybe learn fact checking (FBW is open source after all you can literally see when features were merged). Or even just read their patch notes mate LOL says landing calculator came with Stable Version 0.7.0 which was almost a full year before Fenix LOL
I'm amazed of the sudden "Fenix" hype. I mean... the same YT-video producers who are telling you now how grade "Fenix" is - and you should buy it - , where hailing FBY just shortly before release. Guess they all got the software for free ;-) I stick thankfully to the FBY team who do all this work on a voluntarily basis. And anyway, the main problems (like better flight dynamics) that really matter are MSFS (Asobo) issue's. And as long they don't approve it, none of the two will improve. So, the paid software won't make it better. And I don't have the desire to pay $60,= to open a window or look in the cabin.... I'd be LOL when FBY "copies" it fur fun! :-) :-) :-) Have a nice evening and happy landings! Cheers!
I can't speak for others, but I paid for my Fenix. I think the hype is centered around the fact we have another Airbus that is more feature-rich than the FBW. That isn't to say the FBW is rubbish or not worth your time. I don't believe A320s in MFS have to adhere to the Highlander rules of "There can only be one". Anyone who's been tracking MFS would know how critical FBW has been for the last year+. Thanks for watching
The hype well there will always be those who over react. Fenix is the best aircraft by far to come to MSFS. FBW is very useable now and sets a standard for other freeware, but it’s still a heavily moddded default aircraft. As for flight physics MSFS has the best model of three home sims. It is still being tuned by ASOBO and aircraft devs are still learning what it can or cant do.
I doubt these features were copied or correlate to the fenix a320 because I'm sure it takes way longer than a couple days to develop such features they were probably working on this for weeks
I don't think it's fair to call this a competition because it clearly isn't considering an A320NEO with Honeywell, Sharklets, and CFM LEAP 1A-26 engines is not the same as an A320CEO using Thales, fences, and CFM56-5-B4 engines. they are completely different aircraft. In addition to that, one is freeware and one is payware.
A lot of these things were un the older EFB and then the new EFB system has also been avaliable in the experimental version for about a month or two now
Your videos seems to be well edited, good microphone and just general quality you’d expect from high subscriber count UA-camrs which is awesome. So did you not think to make the same effort and to take 5 minutes and do some research before creating this video? Inform your viewers rather than just creating useless speculation.
Well, FBW has been on the place and all over the place for way lomger than any other free/payware add-on. I dlubt very much they would have "copied" anyone. It would rather be the other way round. Nonetheless...i think both competitors can learn from eachother and as such, improve each their own model even more. And that is what matters to us, simmers. Who cares who copied who?
Idk how much time they would need for such an update, but I assume it takes more than a couple days to code, unless the FBW team had access to some Fenix info beforehand. It might be possible they were "inspired" by the Fenix models though, but I don’t see what they would gain from maintaining competition, as their version is free anyways.
I mean only one thing was inspired (copied) by the Fenix which is the Perf calculator soo...a tiny bit has been inspired but not most of it. If anything Fenix should copy FBW's way of the ATC section in the EFB. I personally think that the ATC is the best feature in the EFB. Love your channel. Found out about it today and subbed. Also when I spawn into the cockpit, I can't seem to use my freelook using the right mouse button. Can you please consider what might be the problem and answer? Thanks so much for these fun videos!
Even if they are similar, SO WHAT?!! FBW had many of these features way before Fenix came out! No point in comparing them(unless something is very very fundamentally faulty in either), glad to have both.. Long way to go, but they are doing great.. None of them free of bugs but again they are just out and evolving, heck even the base sim is still having so many issues after almost 2 yrs.. So the tone of your video can be interpreted in both ways, i dont think this was the best way to pitch your point. And most importantly if one dev is providing a feature after seeing the competition, its at the end a good thing, not "Copying" so to speak.. At the end all aircrafts fundamentally fly on same rules and need similar parameters to be considered to fly them so what different do you expect really? Its fine if competition is improving both modules.
I feel like FBW is wasting its resources in non important stuff. They should put all efforts into getting the A320 completed with both its new model and performance. The performance is plagued and always has been plagued with stutters. And let’s be honest, the A380 isn’t something so many people are pumped about. Not everybody fly’s long hauls.
FBW is working on everything at one time! There are so many developers on the project, contributors as well. I personally contribute with the audio-side of things, but the work being put into the FBW A320 is unanimous. The assets that are easiest to implement often get finished first, therefore this pushes the perception of wasted resources, but I can assure you that FBW is working tirelessly on beautiful stuff! :)
