What works every time for me:
Turn the adjuster until the slats are fully open so you can see through the window.
They then go up and down every time.

Correct. If horizontal slats, open them so that you can see right through them. They should go up and down with no issues.

We just moved into a new house. There are a few sets of cordless blinds of unknown age (look newer though). I just tried raising them with the slats closed. They didn’t retract easily, but “pooled” in my hand. Then I opened the slats as you suggested and they went up easily. Thanks!!

@@fixthishouse3303 I couldn’t figure it out when I moved into my new place. Sometimes they went up, sometimes they didn’t. And one day I just decided, hmm, let me open the slats and try it, and it works with every set of blinds I have in my house.

I cannot get the blinds to get lowered. When the painter was here, the blind was removed. Now it’s a good 12” from the bottom. I’ve watched the video but it’s not working. Any help is appreciated.

Try adjusting the blinds using the stick. Set them horizontally so you can see out and try pulling them down. Sometimes the mechanism catches.

I get it you either pull or push the blind butwhere does the long string go that is on the blind that you used to have to lower or raise the blind like on the old blinds had I’m sure you don’t just put it anywhere

The cord you used to use to raise or lower the blinds is no longer needed (because the newer style is cord-less).

I wonder if WD40 lubricant applied to the gears would help cordless blinds move easier. I think older blinds and larger blinds are more difficult to move.

I have some that are “stuck” or slow to move. I pull down on the tension cord and inch and lift/hold the blinds up. Think of it like trying to loosen a stiff joint. Come back a hour or 2 later and do it again. I may make a video on this process.

I was trying to loosen an older blind last night by pulling the tension strings down an inch or 2 and releasing them. It didn’t work… UNTIL I adjusted the stick that controls the angle of the blinds. Try turning the stick in case something is impeding the tension mechanism. Let me know if it works :)

Have you tried holding the top bar and pulling down on the base with a little more pressure? (I found that twisting the stick somehow made the blinds move, so you may want to try that, roo)

This is a long shot… you could try pulling the middle tension cords out without pulling the blinds. There may be more than one. I saw a UA-camr pull the tension cords equally to even out uneven blinds. I think the mechanism gets stuck from lack of use .
