Welcome to the US! Actually, there’s another style of window blind/venetian blind that is cordless. Landlords like them because they don’t have dangerous cords.

You're video is a life saver! If i had purchased these blinds myself, even after figuring out how they worked, i would have destroyed them out of spite. Its very poor design that its not intuitive when it should be. All other blinds are.

I use a clip to hold the string in down position and hook the clip to my cabinet. Is there any way to adjust the string so blinds will stay shut
I accidentally pulled the right side hangings which are short and didn’t pull the longer ones Now the blinds are half way up but now I cannot put them down again What’s your suggestion for me to pull down all the blinds
If the blinds are uneven, pull the individual strings until they line up. Tie a knot in the strings so they stay lined up. You should be able to follow the instructions in the video afterwards.
my parents had a business selling blinds for 30+ years . Never raise or lower blinds unless slats fully open. Can you tell us which of the 4 strings on the right go to what part of the ladder and how to shorten these with cords. Parents elderly now and they cannot recall and many vids do not show up close.
To adjust the cords, I pull them one by one. You could possibly label them. I don’t shorten the cords, but once the blinds are leveled/adjusted, I tie them together with a knot. If there are small children around, I clip them up.
My husband shakes his head at all the “dumb” (simple, beginner) videos I make… especially the one where I record the clothes washer washing clothes, lol. I’m glad your curtains are down!

Did the mechanism click? If yes, it may be broken or you may need to physically pull the blinds down after you hear the click. Be gentle. See if it’s stuck.

If you make the slats horizonal - flat - so you can see out - it's easier to raise and lower them and less strain on the mechanism
