I used to have bread very often. I even ate them all day long instead of rice. But, these days, bread doesn't sit very well in my stomach. Actually, not only bread, but almost flour products don't sit very well in my stomach. I think, I have trouble digesting flour.

언제부터인지 잘 모르겠는데 언젠가부터 가끔 한번씩 속이 더부룩했어요. 그러던 어느날, 단팥빵 먹으면 속이 안 좋다는 것을 알았어요. 그리고 요즘에는 피자를 먹어도 똑같은 증상이 나타나요.

“I don’t feel so good.”이 “나 기분 별로야.” 라고 해석될 여지는 없을까요? 문맥상 이해하겠지만, 정말 밥 먹을 기분이 아니라면 “I’m not in a mood for lunch.” 라고 해야할까요? 오늘도 쌤 강의 보면서 영어 초보 탈출을 꿈꿔 봅니다 :)
물론 기분이 안 좋을 때도 I don't feel so good. 라고 할 때도 드물게는 있지만 일반적으로는 그렇게 표현을 하지 않아요. 가령, 아무런 대화가 없는 상태에서 누가 그냥 갑자기 "I don't feel so good."라고 하면 그 말을 들은 사람은 1차적으로 "아, 어디가 아픈 모양이구나."부터 생각이 들 거예요. 만약 기분이 안 좋다는 얘기를 하려면 "It doesn't feel so good.", "This/That doesn't feel so good."라고 할 가능성이 높은데 그 이유를 설명하자면 사실 많이 길어질 수 있어서 기회가 되면 실시간 때 설명할게요. 실시간 때 오셔서 이 부분에 대해서 상기시켜주세요. 그리고 "밥 먹을 기분이 아니다." 식으로 말을 하려면 말씀하신 mood 의 활용도 가능하지만 저한테는 너무 직설적으로 느껴져서 "I don't feel like having lunch." 이렇게 보통 얘기하는 편입니다 😀

@@LA-TDLR 여러 유튜브 영쌤들 강의 듣다 보니까 좀 애매한 부분이 있어요. 어떤이들은 어색하다는 표현을 또 다른 누군가는 자연스럽다 하고 실재 영화에서도 자주 들리고 ㅎ. be in the mood for~같은 경우도 일상 생활에서 즐겨 쓰라는 말 자주 들었거든요. i don't feel so good도 그냥 기분이 않좋다라는 뜻으로 알고 있는 사람들이 더 많을 듯

수술 후유증으로 이런 표현들이 자주 필요했는데 자세히 알려주셔서 감사합니다. 그리고 혹시 시간이 되시면 very, so의 구분에 대해서도 알려주실 수 있을까요? 흔하게 쓰는 문장에선 쉽지만 간혹 어떤 문장에선 very가 안되고, 되고 넘 혼동이 되네요.

영어권에서는 의사한테 증상을 설명하는 게 아니고서야 배가 아프거나 그 이후에 일어나는 일들에 대한 자세한 언급은 꺼리는 것 같습니다. 선생님이 알려주신 표현들처럼 애둘러서 얘기해도 충분히 알아들으니까요.
When I was younger, I couldn’t diagest when drinking milk but after I became an adult. Milk sits well in my stomach. Otherwise I’ve found myself having trouble digesting bananas. Things are changing.
1. 저는 빈 속에/공복에 사과나 오렌지처럼 산(성)이 많은 과일을 먹으면 속이 쓰려요/불편해요.
When eating acidic fruits like apples, oranges between meals, I don't feel so good.
2. 사실 저는 커피, 녹차, 밀크티 같이 카페인을 포함한 차를 마시면 속이 좀 안 좋아요.
Actually, any teas including caffeine like coffee, green tea, milk tea don't sit very well in my stomach.
3. 오늘 아침 출근 길 지하철에서 토할 것 같은 기분이 들었어요. 어젯 밤에 뭘 좀 잘못 먹었나 봐요. 그게 아니면, 밤늦게 과식을 해서 그랬었을 수도 있구요.
On my way to work on the subway this morning, I felt like throwing up. My guess is that it's something I ate last night. Or overeating late at night might have caused it.

I feel sick to my stomach 은 보통 육체적인(물리적인?) 반응보다는 감정적/정신적인 반응을 말할 때 쓰는 것 같아요. 극히 혐오스럽거나 정말 원하지 않는 일이 일어나는 상황에 대해서요.
ex) I never want anything like this to happen to my children. I would feel absolutely sick to my stomach if it ever did.
