- White cloud minnows are delightful little fish that can be kept in a wide variety of different tank set ups. They can be kept in both cool and tropical tanks without any ill effect on their lifespan and if you are looking to start breeding fish then these are the perfect species to start with.
My favourite fishy stuff! (yes these are affiliate links :) )
Lights
Nicrew Classic LED - amzn.to/3fG3Uv6 - Traditional led light that's got a nice high output in a white/cool colour range. Makes plants look extra green.
Nicrew SKY - amzn.to/3Ktn45U - really nice light for natural looking tanks, also the one I use for filming.
Filters
Pat Mini - amzn.to/3fE1u0k - popular for a reason, just a superb little filter thats great for shrimp tanks and fish alike.
ASAP - amzn.to/3nBuytp - the old favourite and the one i return to most frequently.
Air Pump
AP-3 Kit : amzn.to/34UMA3q - Great little air pump, not a silent runner, but has been very reliable for me.
Tanks
Scaper 45 - amzn.to/3KBxG2H - a lovely high quality tank that comes with a super strong light, and a decent enough hang on back filter - perfect for newbies and scapers alike.
After college I lost my apartment and had to give my fish away. No one wanted my two white clouds so they went to my grandma who had a fancy goldfish names Cupcake. They got along fine until the ends of their lives. I think Cupcake enjoyed the company.
Grandmas always come thru
I bet Cupcake did.
Golden Retriever of fish! I just bought 5 of them and they are already schooling with my Brilliant Rasbora, like they are siblings
Wow I bet they look fantastic together - i might have to try that.
I have a tank with golden white clouds, beckford’s pencilfish, and bronze corys. That tank is in my kitchen and I love those darn fish so much and spend so much time with them! Both pencilfish and white clouds are curious and inquisitive fish, but pencilfish seem to be more intelligent in that way. I have 8 of each and would love to have much bigger schools but my tank can’t accommodate more than what I already have, so it’s something to look forward to in the future when I get a larger tank
Gonna have these guys in a planted community tank with Buenos Aires Tetras, and Pygmy Corydoras. They seemed like perfect entries into a nanoish tank.
I have had 20+ Golds in my 33 long now for a year and they are amazing!
Your channel is my favorite fishtuber channel!!
They are beauties but mine are silver. Beautiful fish.
One of my favorite White cloud videos to date…!
Your videos are such a pleasure to watch and listen to
Beautiful White Cloud Mountain Minnows Aquarium. Thanks for the video
you deserve way more subs
Mine come together at feeding time I have 12 of them in my tank and love watching them chase each other around 🤣 they leave my shrimp alone too even though they were interested by them at first
This wonderful video finally encouraged me to make the decision to take care of a dozen of these golden beauties. I have them alone in a 200 liter mini patio pond, well insulated even though it is a Mediterranean climate, with many plants (including floating ones) and a slight current to simulate a river. They are my first fish and I want them to be as good as possible. Thank you very much for your inspiration!
By far the most pleasing voice and style of presentation for Aquariums on UA-cam!
I've become an instant fan and subscriber 👍🏽❤️😇
Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏🏽😇
Always been my favourite fish. The gold ones anyway. I had 300 in a 6ft x 16in x 16in planted aquarium once. Was my dream tank.
A truley beautiful and stunning little fish👍. I have a mix of normal and golden white clouds in species only tank. One of my favourite tanks. Thanks for doing a video on them well done👍🙂.
saw these actually when I visit Singapore botanical garden and I was wondering if they were pencil fish.. turns out its these guys!! so now i know tropical condition works for them too
Thank you 🐠
I really appreciate the thoroughness of this. Love your channel! Keep it up!
I like the darker ones but the golden ones are pretty too. If I get some I will get a mix of both.
Mine got sparkling strip on back, looks great
Wonderful video!!
Really informative with unique insights based on your own experience. It's very helpful and paints a picture of what it's like to keep these fish. Loved the music at the end.
Very helpful information. Nice looking tank 👍
I'm liking White Cloud too. Nice video. Informative. Found your channel today and subscribed 👍
Another beautiful video. Thanks, Lauren
Great shots and narration
Hi Lauren, another excellent video, featuring another of my favourite species, one which I in fact currently keep.
I was able to acquire a dozen of the longfin 'natural' white clouds in May last year, and I absolutely love them. Not only do they have beautiful colouration and finnage, but as you mention they exhibit just the right level of confident activity, and other than the occasional 'flaring' session between males, they are completely peaceful.
In December, I noticed a single fry among the trailing roots of the water lettuce in the tank, which has since grown big enough to join the adults.
Sadly, I haven't seen any additional fry, but I'm hoping that over these cooler months (I keep them in a temperate tank) more might appear.
Anyhoo, in case there's not another video beforehand, I'll wish you a Merry Christmas now ❄⛄🎅👼.
Hey Chris, that's great that a fry survived, my white clouds usually live in a tank with barbs these day so I never get any free fish off them! I am hoping to get another video out before Christmas but it all depends on work so we will see, might have to be a short one :D !
Wishing you a Merry Christmas too :)
Yes they are that endearing to keep ! My 6 live in a 36 gallon bow front along with 6 dwarf neon rainbows. The rainbows have very small mouths and even when full grown they are only. 2 1/2 “ (Praecox Neon Rainbows )
My favorite, great info.
Love them
I believe they are healthier and live much longer when kept at 18/20 celcius.
What a great video
Thank you. i just bought 2 for my shrimp tank
I keep bristlenose zebra danios and guppies platy n molly's with them no issues have lots of plants
Of they can be highly competitive for food and will gorge themselves any chance they can. They will outcompete everyone else for food and it is challenging to make sure others get their share while the White Clouds are stufgong themselves.
The golden WCMMs have BLUE EYES ! Why didn’t you say?! I was given one yesterday to join my silver ones for company and now I have to go n get some more blue eyes, they’re irresistible!! 🙏✝️✌️
Very informative🙂
Great video. I'm breeding my own strain of the longfin version. Both Standard colour and golden
Finding it hard to feed the 6 minnows I have. They spit out flakes. Even if i crunch them small.
Currently, my community tank is home to celestial pearl danios, ember tetras, pygmy corys, otos, and fire red cherry shrimp. Safe to say that we share a similar preference in our fish!
I am considering some Daisy's rice fish for my other tank (currently only housing some sunkist cherry shrimp). Would love an ' all about' for rice fish if you have any experience with them! :)
Great vid, thanks! I've just bought ten and they're still approx 15mm long. How long before they start breeding?
when do the fry turn gold? do the fry revert back to dark?
A QUESTION, I know that regular white cloud minnows are from China and can be found there in their natural habitat, but what about gold white clouds? Are they GMO fish or idk a mans experiment with fish since they have a golden color
I bought 5 white clouds and within a couple of hours I only had 4. I never found what happened to number 5
Hi Lauren, can white minows be in an unheated tank? Im looking at making a cold water tank as my next project. Do you have a video on that? I can't seem to find one... thank you 🙂
🙏😎🐟
Are you sure the gold fish won’t eat them?
Do they like to eat live daphnia?
I had these fish with gold fish as the pet shop said they were fine but the white clouds kept disappearing im sure the gold fish was eating them
you should a video about Elassoma Gilberti or the pygmy sunfish
If only! I’ve never even seen sunfish for sale in the uk 😢!
Can i keep these in a tank with temps between 14-18c
i got 40 of them 34 of them are babys that are big enough to survive
Nice! How many I can keep in a 3 gallon tank?
None it's too small like Lauren says they are schooling fish and like to be kept together and minnow need minimum of 10-15 gallon
In India neon tetras cost less than minnows
I only have 2 of these and one keeps attacking other. So the other one is always in hiding :(
Get more? What did you do? ✌️
Should've titled Golden White Cloud Mountain Minnow
I set up a new planted tank with tetras, rasboras, Cory’s and these little beauties. They always hang out at the top of the tank I always come home And think they’re dead. Nope they just love the top of the tank.
Your temperature is too high for matching natural environment for WCMM 🤔
Great video!
