I started out with 3/3 and one day one baby showed up the size of a rice grain. A couple days ago I saw another baby. Def not trying but nature is taking its course lol.
I have a group of 8 of Gold WCMM in a relatively new 30g planted community tank for 2 month. Yesterday I discovered many tiny golden fries swimming around! Amazing fish! hope some of them will survive... Did nothing in particular to breed them though..
Very informative! I've bred White Clouds for two years now in my pond and I bring them all inside for the winter. Really would like to get them to spawn indoors but no luck so far. I'm definitely going to work on a separate spawning tank. Thanks for the vid!
One thing I’ve done for breeding white clouds, leopard and zebra danio’s is have about a 1/2-3/4 inch layer of marbles on the bottom as the substrate and had a decent chunk of java moss and some ambulia or hornwort (any plant that grows as fast as those or as dense would probably work just as well) and yeah went from about 10-12 to well over 200-300 in a few months which worked out well ended up putting them into my pond for mozzie control 👌🏼🤙🏼
Jim Matheson I wish I had that problem! I’m not sure how to get them to stop breeding, but you could add a predator to the tank such as a betta fish to eat some of the fry.
how the facccckkkk u got so many fry, I got none I would be sooooo happy if I had fry never got success with breeding fish, tryed angel fish before and failed and bough alot of bristle nose still no sign of breeding, im just praying this little fish woudd breed
Mate, amazing video. I searched up how to breed white cloud minnows and your's popped up as the first one to catch my interest... thanks for sharing, mate. I am so excited to start breeding my minnows; feeding them frozen brine shrimp, moving them to my 5 gallon tank with big pebbles on the bottom. You are amazing and I learnt a lot from this video. Thanks for sharing, and have a brilliant week, Barry! 😀👍
Your the only video I could find that had good information on breeding white clouds. But how old do the fish have to be to breed. Mine are about 6 months
That a good question. I actually have no idea. I’m assuming by the time they are at least six months to a year they should be ready to breed. I noticed mine breeding at the one year mark.
Nice information but try using a tripod of phone stand for filming as the jolting movements make viewing uncomfortable. Thanks for your efforts though.
I have a female who wouldn't drop her eggs for weeks. She was with a boy and 2 Cory's. Bought 2 more minnows and moved everyone over from a 10 to a 20 and she laid the next morning.
Heya I have a question, do gold white clouds cross breed with Regular white cloud minnows? What actually happens if they do, do the gold lose their color? Do the offspring continue to reproduce?
Hey! I woke up yesterday to 2 fry in my tank. I hadn’t even noticed any eggs and wasn’t expecting it because I’ve had my wcmm for two years now and they’ve never bred. I’m trying to figure out whether there are more eggs so I can be prepared to separate them from the adults (got a mesh nursery) but I have no idea what their eggs look like and with snails in the mix it’s hard to figure out if I’m looking at eggs or poop. Do you know what the look like? I can’t find any actual images on google
I was having the same problem with my convict cichlids if you can see if you can move a lot of your snails cuz I got dianos that are eggs scatters to but have like thousands of snails I think they keep eating them all before they develop
Thanks for the video! I followed your example and now I've got about 30 fry in a separate tank. They're about a week old, and the adults ate the few that I introduced as a test. How long do they take to develop to the point where they can no longer become lunch for their parents?
I feel like breeding white clouds and get a big big school going, but every video I see they behave differently....do you feel they directionally school more, or they just hang out together like guppies? maybe is something to do with number or water flow
In my experience only juvenile white cloud minnows school. Once they are full grown they do act similar to guppies in which they don’t really school. It might have to with water flow but I am unsure. Hope this helps!
what is the ideal temperature for breeding them, mine is currently unheated with a low temperature of 7-10 Celsius degree, I place all 8 of them in a plastic box(20 litre) and got a sponge filter operated. do u know what‘s the size for maturing age, when I bough mine they were about 1cm and now they were slightly bigger but Im not sure when they will breed and what to do? plz help
You might try adding a heater. I found that the minnows breed at around 15-22 degrees Celsius. The biggest thing that helped me was using small pebbles at the bottom of the tank so the adults couldn’t eat the eggs. The minnows are usually mature after six months. If the horizontal stripe on their body is tan colored and not neon green/blue then they are ready to breed. Also white cloud minnows are really weird. The fish that I bred only bred once, I tried to do it again but nothing happened. The offspring from those fish however have been breeding none stop and I haven’t done anything special for them.
@@BarrysAquarium thanks I just added the heater, but when I fitted the heater I realise, there's only 6 of them, two must died and got eaten by the loaches cuz they can't tolerate extreme temperature, here in London, temperature drop below 1 degree.
@@BarrysAquarium thanks for ur advice, my minnow aint that big, don't think will breed but Ill go to local fish shop and buy some grown adult to try breed.
I got the white cloud minnows at Petco. They were sold as feeder fish for only 20 cents! Thanks for the suggestion about the water hyacinth, I will definitely keep that in mind!
I was getting five for my five gallon tank and then they have babys I will move them in my other five gallon that's have nothing in it am breathing them because they extinct in the wild.
I have seen platys, mollies, swordtails, zebra danios, etc sold as feeder fish. Prob because they were overstock from breeders, unwanted mix breeds, or undesired trait culls.

That’s so interesting how some people can breed them without even trying and others can’t get them to!

I think it also depends on what other fish you have with them. That’s what I was told before by another fish keeper.

Hi. What water temperature do you have in your main tank?
I breed so many fish and NEVER been able to breed those :(

hey i was wondering if knew when whitecloud minnows sexually mature also amazing video you gained a new sub👍
I’m not a hundred percent sure but I would say between six months to a year. And thanks for the sub!!!

Easy way for them to breed is to just put them in a pond mine started breeding within 1 week of being in it
I might have to try that!
Nyc
you will probably find the snails are the reason eggs don't hatch
I never thought of that! That’s most likely the reason, thank you!
Cual es el nombre en ESPAÑOL?
Breeding age
20 cents! holy damn lol
Now try to breed neon tetras! Its almost the same concept
That’s a great idea! The only problem is that I don’t have any empty tanks to put them in. Guess I might have to get another tank then 😂
