    Alright, I have been experimenting with some BBQ sauces lately...so far this one takes 1st place. It's pretty mild with subtle heat which means the kids will gobble this up. I did use brown sugar and instead white, and instead of oil I used some smoked butter I already prepared. Instead of 1 TBLS of chili powder I used 1/2 TBLS chili powder and 1/2 TBLS of Lawry's Chili and Garlic. Lastly I used dijon mustard instead of regular. This recipe is a winner! Nice job!

      K Warner yum those tweaks sound great! If you like this recipe you will have to wait to see our new one which we might release one day. It is a take off of this one but even better. Just not sure if we are going to bottle it yet which is why it isn't up on our channel. ;) Glad you stopped by our channel. Any bbq recipe ideas you might want to see made?

      Postal Barbecue you have covered so mant great ideas. In the meantime you could always just send over that recipe while you are trying to decide to bottle or not. ;) I have family coming over for smoked pulled pork tomorrow. I'm putting out your sauce to go with the sandwiches. I'll direct them all to your channel. Keep smokin!

      +K Warner sounds like a fun time. For pulled pork sammys try adding a touch more apple cider vinegar to thin it down a bit and give it a bit more tang. I find that goes well that way for PPS. Have fun at the feast.

    Reduced sugar version: I used Heinz No Sugar Added (Sucralose) ketchup, and Splenda (again, Sucralose) in place of the 'white sugar' and it tasted great. Very smooth. I love that I can control the ingredients and flavor. My first time making my own BBQ sauce and a big success. Thanks Postal BBQ.

    • @PostalBarbecue
      @PostalBarbecue  7 років тому +1

      This would make around 3.5 cups I believe.. You could replace some of the sugar with honey. It will change the flavour a bit but the sweetness balances out the acidity. Basically add the sugar to taste, start our with half the amount maybe and then add until you like it. Hope that helps.

    I haven't ever made a bbq sauce before and I just wanted to learn. Your video was the first one that I clicked on and it will be the first one that I will make. I figured if for some reason it is too spicy, which I need to stay away from due to an ulcer, I can just double the ingredients, minus anything that makes it spicy, and all will be good with twice as much as before. It's a win win situation. which is great for me. I will make it the way that you showed and then afterwards I might change it a little by what others did. Thank you for your recipe.

    Great sauce. 4 mods from me: (1) use a nob of butter instead of the oil - makes the sauce shinier (2) add juice of 1/2 a lemon - extra tang (3) brown sugar, not white and (4) don't bother blending - just cut the onions up small. In the UK, can't find liquid smoke either, so I omitted.

    I thought it was slightly too spicy; for my personal preference and what I was happening to be using it for. Totally tolerable levels of heat, though I did get a few comments from weaker tongues.
    I might suggest using 1/2 TBSP instead of a full one. I'll try that next time, but I suspect that will be closer to "sweet and spicy".

    Any recipe can benefit from fresh garlic.....hell, I think a German Chocolate Cake can benefit from 3 Tablespoons of Garlic. 2 Tbs. mustard, and the cider vinegar also is very good. u added about 4x the amount of liquid smoke that works for anyone in the south, i am serious on this one, that much liquid smoke tastes like green yard grass to people in southern Georgia/S. Alabama. Keep the liquid smoke to 1/2 Tablespoon max(prob half that, I was beeing generous). My family has cooked hole hogs 3 times a year since I can remember, prob 1965 to be honest, maybe longer. Our go to sauce is roughly 3 parts ketcup, 1 part vinegar., salt pepper. and a few other spices too taste. I am looking for a sauce recipe that is roughly 3 parts ketchup and 1 part vinegar I think. The sauce that I like has some sugar and some soy in it, that I am sure. I am willing to drive 6 hours from Dothan, Al. If you have the sauce, I can teach you how to cook a whole hog that is out of this world, with only 2 of vinegar and salt added, it takes me 8-9 hours to ccok one. If you have the sauce, or if you have the sauce that I seek, I will come to you. Kkelley784@gmail.com I am6'5" , 285#, I am not scared of much, if you would like to teach me, and you think you can help me, text me. I am caucasion, but I was raised with a/m people, I don't speak alot of Spanish, but I am also very o.k. with hispanics, hell, I like anyone who likes to cook ......text me if we can help each other, I can cook a hog that will blow your mind.

      1/2 tabs is 1.5tsp. So when I add in 1-2tsp depending on taste that’s potentially less than what you recommend. ;)
