I will NEVER purchase a Microsoft computer again. I really like my Surface Book but the charging issues were TERRIBLE. I purchased more then one charger & cords and they only lasted a short time. MICROSOFT - NEVER AGAIN UNTILL YOU FIX YOUR ISSUES!
The surface book has a notorious battery problem. I bought a 2nd Book dirt cheap, the battery inside the screen swells hence making the LCD bulges forward, nasty. I learnt how to fix it now I have a working unit. If interested leave a note here I will direct you to the video(s) that teaches you how to fix it at a fraction of the price some people charge, not very difficult but can be challenging. You need patience.
I got the same battery problem with a Microsoft pro 4. The agent offered me a replacement for $599. Obviously that didn't sound like a replacement. that sounded like they were selling me another old expensive piece of trash... !!! Being such an important company, they shouldn't sell garbage like this at all !!!
Microsoft support is hopeless they just to buy MORE hardware for more money. In the past I own many Lenovo laptops their support and reliability are excellent. Their hardware SUpport lately I am not so sure.
I own a surface book 1 bought in 2017. Less than 1 year, I have to replace my unit due to the problem of battery. Instead of a new one, they send me a refurbished one (so different from apple policy): it is like you buy a new car and replace it with a refurbished. After 2018, the batteries were dead again. Instead of fixing, I bought a data bank which charge the surface. Never more I will buy a surface again and I always do not recomend this product to anyone.
My base batteries just failed. Tablet battery only goes up to 50%. This tablet runs hot under heavy processing and the heated batteries fail after a while. I used a paper clip and ejected tablet from base and now run with a power cable only. I have an exterior fan close to the processor to cool it down and shutdown after 30-60 mins of use. It’s a glorified desktop now without the batteries.
After a complete factory reset, and much messing around I found out that my inside keyboard model 1705 nvidia gpu card got damaged from heat and execsive use. So, I bought another keyboard and my tablet is able to recognize it and work fiine. So in my case excesive gpu use and overheating caused the problem.
I have the same problem with this kind of laptop! Qt the moment it still old , but if you plan to purchase new one, updated version, i do mlt recommend comparing to its price
I haven’t used mine in a couple months maybe 4 at most and it won’t charge now. I’ve had it for almost 4 years now and has worked fine until now. What a waste smh
I have the surface laptop 2 and my battery is plugged in and charging but it is stuck on 0% If i buy a new battery would the problem go away or stay the same?
me too. i did replace my SB2 with a Surface Pro X (which is awesome) but I am furious the Surface Book 2 is in this state so quickly - mine is loaded - I spent almost 3k on it. sucks
@@ThomasHoffDE very disappointing, I spent around $2600 on the original SurfaceBook. Now it won't even power on ! I thought mine was an isolated case but it seems like Microsoft has since then released another garbage product in SurfaceBook 2!

Same issue i even change the battery with brand new one and still not working 😢😢

If u have the top battery taken off and only use the bottom battery would it still work? even when charging?

Try cheap Chinese charger ~$10, works like a charm. I have 3 Microsolf chargers, none of them work.

Absolutely garbage!!! I purchased a brand new one for my son in college and the same thing happened. Never ever again. I'll stick to an Apple laptop.
