Irish 2:09 Marathoner Stephen Scullion is about to begin his Berlin Marathon build up while Irish track distance runner Darragh McElhinney is chasing the Budapest World Athletics Championships 5000m standard in upcoming events. We joined them for a threshold session of 10 x 1km in St Moritz a week before both race a 5000m in Ireland.
The workout: 10 x 1km with 200m jog recovery in St Moritz (1800m elevation)

I haven't exactly understood why Darragh's (and Stephen's, too!) lactate readings went down towards the end. Could somebody explain, please?
The body is using some of the lactic acid as a fuel source , so the reading drops.This is why the coach got them to back off the speed slightly by a few seconds, he knew this was the right zone to train that lactic function. The more reps they did the more it dropped.
what the extra thing you have on your hear rate strap?
Likely a core temperature sensor

Yes, they are likely doing a second run that day, similar to the Norwegians

Why would you jog threshold’s rest? It’s 1 min of standing rest. No jogging
Jogging will help to clear out some of the lactate which is the purpose of this session
