This is such a fun segment Frank. I love how you mix it up with your videos! I reminds me of how I listen to music, jumping from one genre to another. Keep up the good work!!!
The turntable will always be a sexy instrument. It can conjure up any myriad memories and fantasies even. I not only listened to my records but I watched as they played and cycled. The 30s & 40s was a fertile time for auto record changer design and development. Slide and drop changers, and the elite Capehart flip over changer which indeed played both sides of a 78 rpm record. There is also the Philco beam of light which implemented a photo cell pick up to reproduce your records; a veritable predecessor to cd playback. Check this out, fellas. This is a fascinating technology.
The guy with the black and white photos hanging on the wall did a nice job with cable management. The black and white photos help blend the whole room together nicely! Really digging the vinyl den videos.
So many vinyl dens to envy ... so little time. Currently my small collection and associated gear is in an entertainment center. I would love to have my collection in record store style bins where they're easy to flip through and find things. Maybe some day. In one of the rooms in he video, the black and white paintings on the wall look more like photos to me. :-)
Love these, so pleased to make a happy post after posting a downer about RSD. Fantastic rooms, loved Tom's store rescues 👍 still halfway through mine waiting for my crocked back to heal.
Frank, just when i thought u couldnt get any more awesome you also let your humbleness shine thru. cheers to u man, youtube is a better place with u in it. killer music rooms, cheers!Lee
Great tours. I love the addition of Vinyl Dens to Channel 33 RPM. Thanks Frank! PS . . . talking about snaps & pops on records . . . Sometimes I get so used to a pop or snap during certain songs on my records, that when I hear the song on the radio, I'm like, "Wait a minute. Somethings missing!", LOL!
Tom Q. Public - that CD collection is lit! Awesome! Ray is a LUCKY man: a living room as a music room and even more importantly: a wife who will allow that! I love Greg's EVH-themed record storage bin! Alan (spelling?) has quite the grown-up look. Simply elegant. Raymond really maximizes his space. What a cool jukebox. That would be a life goal! Keep the record room videos coming, as it is nice to know - and good to tell my wife :) - that I am not in this thing alone!
I always love seeing other vinyl lovers rooms. Thanks for this, Frank. I’m adding to my system tonight, an Ortofon 2M Black and a Pro-Ject Tube Box DS2. Maaan! ... work can’t end quick enough for me today🍻
And all I have is a plywood crate I made turned sideways bookshelf style. Friend of mine called it the record coffin. CDs and cassettes are in laserline racks reducing space on my desk. My music room is the whole house.
Love your Vinyl Den updates and i continue to look forward to your weekly shows. The top tips are great and has inspired me to regrow my vinyl collection. Keep up the good work !!!
Wow!!!! Great show and thank you and those who allowed their little piece of heaven to be shared. My music room is a small area of our family room, my main music room is my garage and my daily music room is my work office. Thanks again for a great show, be well.
I liked Alan from the UK’s room the best, very calmly laid out and top hi fi. Frank, in my younger days I was like you about snap, crackle and pop but I got over it. So long as vinyl doesn’t skip is the main thing....👍
Yes Frank the nakaoka 150 is a fantastic cartridge a few notches above the ortofon blue you being into metal I think will really appreciate that nakaoka although not cheap anymore seems to be above $300 now. And as always love those rooms people are so imaginative and passionate about their music collections unfortunately I don't know any of those people. really appreciate the good work😀😀😀✌
All the rooms shown seem like a lot of fun. I do have an observation though. If you love the music and have the luck to have a room dedicated to it. ALL the rooms need to sort out the speaker placement. The chap in Durham, UK has the best idea. Space the speakers out further and put them on stands(if bookshelf speakers). Don’t put them on high shelves. You’re missing out.
Nice video. I also have the Michell Gyrodec. It’s been the best turntable for around £2000 for the last 30 years! And it’s pronounced ‘meshell jirodeck’ 👍😊
It’s great to see you back and it’s great to be back. I still have no internet because of the hurricane, and I used all my data trying to keep up with the storm, but my provider gave me 10gb to get me through until my plan renews. So I thought I’d treat myself to a video and yours was the first one! And I love Halloween 🎃!!!
7:20 Yes, a Michell Gyrodeck - pronounced as Mitchell and gyro, as in gyroscope That's an audiophile classic with those distinguishing hanging cylindrical weights under the platter! Very nice beltdrive TT!
I also used to go to Eugene to go to Skip’s. They had a good selection, and it was closer to me than going to Portland. There’s a used record shop in Corvallis, but it’s not very big and doesn’t have a good selection. So, now that Skip’s is closed, I’m forced to go to Portland to get used records, which is a major drag.
7JANEWAY Interesting. They have always had a better selection and better quality than Skip's CD World. Skip's was a much larger location but HOR just tends their collection better, plus Skip's sold the rest of their stock to HOR when they closed if I'm not mistaken.
Jason Hess It wouldn’t surprise me if Skip’s sold their records and CDs to HOR. But regardless, my opinion still stands. It’s really true: you NEVER have a second chance at a first impression, and mine of HOR wasn’t the best (Skip’s was).
I’m glad that vinyl records are back my sister bought me a victrola record player it has blue tooth 🦷 on I got it for Christmas 🎄 I’m okay with it plus the fact I’m in a small apartment I started back up with my record collecting vinyl albums again I’m more into the 70’s & 80’s music 🎶 I’ll be 52 years old this year I even asked a few of my friends for a 12”inch “ soft record album 💿 case I saw 👀 it on Amazon a month ago this year is going to be my vinyl record album year between my friend’s and my sister giving me a lot of vinyl records albums for my birthday 🥳 I’m also picky when it comes to my music 🎶 on vinyl record albums lol 😂 and I’ll even be asking for more vinyl record albums for Christmas 🎄 the classic on vinyl record albums lol 😂 plus the fact I know what I want!
I'm in my early 40s. When I grew up it was all about CDs. Vinyl was seen as something old people and weirdos. In 2000 I worked at Tower Records and it was the height of CD sales. So for people who think CD buyers are strange, that's how vinyl buyers were viewed then. I enjoy both formats and I enjoy certain artists and certain albums where I buy both CD and vinyl and hear the differences between the formats. Just enjoy the format you like most. For those looking to expand your music library, CDs are the way to go on a budget today. For fun try holding an old CD in a jewel case to a new CD in a jewel case and see the difference in weight.😎👍✨🗿
Harman Kardon. Wow, not heard that name for a long time. Possibly early 90s. Sadly, it looks like they only produce speakers and speaker systems now. Mitchell Engineering who make the Gyrodec have been on the go for decades over here in the UK. They are way out of my price league. I hope to replace my Linn Basik with a Rega Planar 3 next year.
Impressive record collections. The setup of the audio systems are fine if you just like to hear songs. Terrible if you want great sound. Speakers against the ceiling, against wall, in a cubby hole, hard reflective surfaces. Not so good. Many stereo setup vids to help these people.
Great stuff, Frank! Especially the second one! Wonder if he's a "stryper " fan?🤔 Give "christ" a try! Not trying to push any religion off on anyone , but they can be two different things! Best decision you can make! Anyway , some great rooms, with awsome music!
Always love a record room review. Having reclaimed commercial fixtures is really cool - especially when it's from your old local store.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Some more fantastic rooms. Really liked Greg’s room..and then I saw the Stryper thing, and like turned to love....
Love these vinyl dens episodes. They make me so jealous.
They make me jealous too Bob! It's part of the fun. Thanks for the comment.

I agree, he did a great job on his music room. Thank you for watching.

I can't believe it can be this good
Awesome to feature Tom. Close family friends. I've known Tom and his "Handyman" brother for over 40 years! Keep on spinning, Frank!
That's awesome. His room looks very cool.
Frank
Raymond from the Netherlands for the win! Talk about an immaculate collection!! I would be terrified to even walk in the room. Love it!
I agree, Gil. Great room.

Cool rooms.

love the videos Frank Been getting back into cds my self still got the love for vinyl Cheers from Georgia
Cheers Richard!
When I play my records static is gone, I use ati-static sleeves and never had a problem with it again.
One of my favorite series!!!! Great stuff!!!
Glad you enjoy it!
Great rooms, Frank! It's not that I "like" or "dislike" crackles and pops, it's just the sound is so good I dont mind them (to an extent of course)!
Fair enough!

Very good observation. Keep the tweeters at ear level, and allows for appropriate separation.
Frank
You need to get hold of a Sweet Vinyl Sugar Cube and review it. It removes pops and clicks. Mine is also a phono pre. They work really great.
What a great community!
The best!
im lovin these series!
Thanks! It is a lot of fun to put these together.
Frank
1:44 Gotta get those speakers positioned down lower. Tight space indeed, but it would make a big difference in sound.
Nice video. I also have the Michell Gyrodec. It’s been the best turntable for around £2000 for the last 30 years! And it’s pronounced ‘meshell jirodeck’ 👍😊
Love the channel! I live in Oregon, it's pronounced Oregn, as if there's no O in it. No big deal, though!
I also live in Oregon, and you can pronounce it as or-a-gun. The trick is to say the last syllable quickly.
Im dying to go to oregon!
The Vinyl Guru Be sure you have a mask when you do, because it’s required everywhere.
Cool, thanks!
Noted. Thanks Janeway!

We still have House Of Records over on 13th near campus. Great record store, been there since '71.
roguesquatch1 I’ve been there before, and honestly I wasn’t impressed with it.

I had a red then swapped out to a red and it is so much better definitely worth the upgrade
Do you mean Red to Blue?
Channel 33 RPM yeah I did hahaha autocorrect got me!
Cool Video
Do I spot a Linn Klimax in 8:16? I'd guess Klimax Kontrol, though I might be mistaken here :)

I totally grew up with CDs. I had HUNDREDS. The vinyl collection started when life happened and the CDs went bye bye.

@@Channel33RPM Drop in the Ocean compared to what I've gotten from watching you fella!
The room from Durham should be opposite. Speakers along the short wall at the front.
Speaker placement matters most. The ones near the ceiling are a fail.
How do I send in pictures??
just add them in your mail (with the paperclip)
He gave the email address. I think it was channel33rpm at gmail dot com.
Yes, what Marley said. The info is at the end of the vid.
Did the second den tell what electronics he has?
He did not.
