Very difficult to buy anything from Stanley Gibbons in the United States as there doesn't seem to be an official distributor. One can order directly from London, but postage costs are quite high. Many SG albums have been discontinued recently.

Interesting to hear the question about SG catalogue values. I think in many cases Stanley Gibbons prices can be correct- as you say they are priced at the best MNH or used examples (the quality of which are probably not traded regularly).
However, the area that I collect, which is the Australian State of New South Wales, there are many very 'rare' stamps and they are priced as such in the SG catalogue. The lack of demand for such stamps and the over supply, brought about by the internet (and not just Ebay), means you simply cannot ask anywhere near SG values for said stamps.
My question is, does SG consider the short to medium term demand and supply curves of particular stamps when they are revalued, or are the prices mainly fixed on the basis of increasing inflation?
