This just reminds me of how you can intentionally cock up lines for the plays in an early quest in Fable 3. It’s funny to romance the king in a chicken suit.
What about that bit in Kingdom Come: Deliverance where you can get raging drunk with a priest, and then in the morning have to limp through a sermon he told you the night before to try to cover for him? Fantastic moment of potential failure, which I absolutely failed at.
How about Final Fantasy IX play of "I Wanna Be Your Canary"? Granted, it was just a cover to kidnap Princess Garnet, but that's not excuse for not being able to impress all 100 nobles.
Jesus, that whole play sequence in Life Is Strange: Before the Storm was so intense and emotional. I fell in love with the character's relationship by the time it was over.

1. Misunderstood the title, this is about in-universe acting 2. Hey, _Jill's_ actress and Brad's VA were decent, and Barry's actor was good on-set (results were more mixed in the booth). Chris' actor, on the other hand... "MY GOD!". Haven't seen enough of 2 or of Rebecca Chambers in 1 to comment there. But ye gods, Chris' actor was bad, especially in the booth; we know in _his_ case it wasn't just from the voice director being more used to directing in tonal languages, because his performance as Richter Belmont in SotN was also smeg.

@@randallgrubbs9286 sure but there would be a little Problem. This quest would be really narrowly accesable for most players. I can absolutely relate to Chloe's situation. I was very young and we we're doing a school play, possibly the first or one of the first ones. We had a huge class so we were divided into A and B crew because we would have two shows on different days. I was part of A crew and the next day we would be helping with the sets etc and I suddenly get told I need to learn some lines quickly and later dress up because the person who was supposed to play that role was sick and the one from A crew wasn't there due to some other reason.
4:08 You slayed ‘em. Which is a joke that should’ve been in the play. And following The Tempest is easy, especially when you have a copy by you and you once played in a school production yourself.

The last entry on this list brought up fond memories for me, not memories from playing Life Is Strange (as I haven't played very far into it at all), but memories from when I played Gonzalo in a stage production of The Tempest at my university back in the spring semester of 2018. It wasn't the first theatre production I had acted in, and it hasn't been the last, but it was the first (and, to date, only) Shakespeare play I've acted in. It was a really fun production, and I was lucky to be part of an incredible cast and to be directed by an awesome director.
@@DCGloto Don't be, at least you tried :) By the way, i remember one boss in Guildwars that made me smile for all the wrong reasons, his name was Dupek the Mighty (translate the first world to english, or the rest to polish, eather way ... not a good name for a boss).
How about in undertale where during Mettatons play later in the game it becomes hard to act mostly because you no lines or directions or script in general and instead either just stand their or run around aimlessly until Mettaton drops you through a trap door. Now that you've fallen into a trap you'd think you couldn't mess with this performance any more you'd be wrong because with the power of resets you can figure out Mettatons twist at the end of his puzzle down there and not step on the green space that allows a monster too attack you. So when Mettaton announces it he halts to a stop as he realized you ruined the only chance this performance had for excitement but decides to give you a taste of your own medicine and attack you anyway.
I see a distinct lack of Persona 5 in this list, which is just a travesty. Have you seen Ann Takamaki try to lie before? Hoo boy, it's not great. She may be a model, but a pretty face does not an actress make.
Two list ideas I had recently. Games that let you *choose* to be the bad guy. Several games make you play as the bad guy, and many RPGs let you play as a jerk, but how many let you *choose* if you want to be the hero or the villain? For example, I would personally argue Skyrim if you join the Dark Brotherhood, you are unquestionably a villain. And heroes that really didn't ask for it. Gordon Freeman from the first Hal-Life comes to mind, since the majority of the game, his only real goal is to *not die.*
Fun Fact: Shakespeare's plays use the same metre as the Space Jam theme song, so you can sing pretty much any line from one of ol' Billy's plays to the tune of it.
i'm a theatre honors student and these clips caused me physical pain while reminding me vividly of nightmares i've had regarding onstage unpreparedness so thank you for this funny yet horrifying video
This is pretty great, but here’s another: Night in the Woods, specifically at the Harfest play. You have a choice to be an amazing actor while the rest are mediocre, or you can go way off script while the rest of the cast gets embarrassed for you. I guess Mae has an excuse if she messes up though, since she barely had time to glimpse at her lines.
Yeah you got Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect, but what about Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect? ... There are acting scenes in Odyssey and Andromeda too.
I wish there was a savepoint before the stage-event in final fantasy 7. I love this moment so much and is always fun to experiment to see what happens... but it takes forever to get this moment again :( Specially love the ending where Cloud kisses the dragon and (spoiler) he turns into a princess and everyone lives happy ever after... except aerith who is confused as hell XD
@lelwut Not really. MaleShep Renegade is a badassery of life. FemShep Renegade is rather...lame. I will admit, FemShep is good for Paragon route and romance. MaleShep is great for the Citadel DLC, all the bro moments and Renegade route. FemShep is rather straight forward to see a consistent better character performance. MaleShep is rather better for character development when his performance takes a dark turn in rare circumstances. There's no wrong Shep. One is easier to understand/attach than the other. If the boring and lifeless is done shit like CoD:AdvancedW/Halo 5, then its a shit character. If the boring and lifeless is done right like CoD:InfiniteW/Halo Reach, then you will have a good emotional pay off. Boring and lifeless is harder to connect to by default. Emotional and living is easier to connect to by default. Connecting to a boring and lifeless character is an advanced method of character attachment compared to the latter.

When this fist started I thought they meant bad voice actors and I was thinking "these games have some of the industries best talent!". Now it makes sense...
How did kassandra's acting with sokrates not make the list?
What about Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door? They do all of the fights in front of the audience. Have to be some shenanigans in there.
Or the player characters of BattleBlock Theater? They went so far off script they had the gall to attempt escape! A veritable bunch of bollocks, I say.
Yeah, I'd say letting one of your actors (a dragon) eat audience members is quite some shenanigans.
Omg yes!! They even broke the fourth wall when the X nut boss said to the audience! !!
I was just thinking that, and I've never even played that!
Well i guess we'll never know why Luke's laptop stopped working.
After watching Ellen's performance in the outro, I know where I'm going for my Christmas ham this year.
I freaking love that Ellen couldn’t keep a straight face when Luke was “flattering” her.😂😂
Before I even click play, I just wanna say, The entire cast of the first couple resident evil games”
That'd be "7 Terrible Actors Who Were Heroes" lol ^^
you'll be Jill sandwich-ed 😂😂😂
Hahaha the live action intro still cracks me up decades later
Joosephhh noooo
1. Misunderstood the title, this is about in-universe acting
@@wackamack9829 oh shoot I never realized that I misread the title 🤣🤣
Instantly upon seeing this I knew Geralt would be here
A bit wooden, but still leagues better than Priscilla as the princess. That performance is pre school theater quality.
in the witcher 3 how could any critic say anything bad when geralt killed everyone.. he knows where these critics live.. so rave reviews
Man, huge opportunity to talk about the Assassin's Creed Odussey quest where you play one of Leonidas' grandchildren playing Leionidas badly in a play
"...for I beheld Satan as he fell from Heaven like lightning!
" - Bison, M.
Make a list about bosses that made you squeamish. And DEFINITELY include the Kraken from Gears 5. The fact that it has holes in it's tentacles that open and you have to shoot the innards makes me shiver just imagining it.
OH GOOOOD THE GOLDEN SAUCER MUSIC WILL NEVER LEAVE MY BRAIN! STILL!! AGAIN!!! THANKS AGAIN OXBOX
No Morrowind, Horror of Castle Xyr? But then again, my performance was excellent!
Thank you, I mentioned the same and I was an A + actor as well :D
Same here. It was going great until that assassin ran onto the stage.
@@S0renz really putting the Ass in Assassin
Before i even saw your comment i wrote the same thing. An acting sequence of "The Lusty Argonian Maid" would be much more memorable tho
@@randallgrubbs9286 sure but there would be a little Problem. This quest would be really narrowly accesable for most players. You need to either play a female Argonian or a male Imperial to acces this quest.
Also I think with this quest in it the game would be R rated and therefore just for people 18 +.
That was actually a great Raul Julia/Bison impersonation. Bravo Andy!
Ann Takamaki from Persona 5 belongs on this list!
I was so expecting for Ezio’s one to be him pretending to be a bard
Fallout 4 player character delivering the lines of The Silver Shroud.
I actually rather enjoyed those
@@anthonykeller1957 Yeah. But it is funny because the lines are given in such a wooden/sarcastic way.
6:31 Because Luke is so tall I guess his somewhat muted sarcasm went over Ellen's head?
In Ellen's defense: Kingdoms of Amalur was an amazing game!
Cannot agree more!!!
Excuse me luke, I would have liked to hear Andy's entire monologue.
4:08 You slayed ‘em.
Which is a joke that should’ve been in the play.
And following The Tempest is easy, especially when you have a copy by you and you once played in a school production yourself.
I got my acting prowess from a cereal box... i miss the good old days when cereal used to come with free games, not bad acting classes held in the back of a seedy van by a guy only wearing a tin foil hat on his... NOPE!
Fun fact: in polish Pavetta is pronaunced Pa-vet-tah.
Alright, I don't know how fun that fact was, but here you go.
As someone that knows both of those languages ... not as fun as i was hoping :D
@@kallasantysanty6092 Really sorry about that then.
@@DCGloto Don't be, at least you tried :)
By the way, i remember one boss in Guildwars that made me smile for all the wrong reasons, his name was Dupek the Mighty (translate the first world to english, or the rest to polish, eather way ... not a good name for a boss).
Verily Ellen, twas the greatest, nay the most sublime example of the actors art.
Fun Fact: Shakespeare's plays use the same metre as the Space Jam theme song, so you can sing pretty much any line from one of ol' Billy's plays to the tune of it.
Hooray jade empire gets a mention. A wonderful game passed over too much.
There should be a petition to have Ellen talk like this from now on. Quality content.
I thought Luke had said 'now we are no experienced lesbians'
i'm a theatre honors student and these clips caused me physical pain while reminding me vividly of nightmares i've had regarding onstage unpreparedness so thank you for this funny yet horrifying video
No Ryder and Kallo's melodrama scene in Mass Effect: Andromeda?
You shut your lying mouth, that scene was pure art
If we talked about that game we'd have to put in that entire game
When I saw spoiler warning for FFVII I was like "hold on, what?" then the music started and I groaned and it all came flooding back to me.
No one:
Ellen: FORSOOTH
I love this moment so much and is always fun to experiment to see what happens... but it takes forever to get this moment again :(
Specially love the ending where Cloud kisses the dragon and (spoiler) he turns into a princess and everyone lives happy ever after... except aerith who is confused as hell XD
There's a difference between imitation and mockery, Ellen!
Is there REALLY tough?
@@cacs2201 I mean...not really.
Isaac Clarke, Dead Space 2, where the school stage was covered with forest decor and the only lines Isaac had, were from his Line-Gun, lol =^_^=
Ah, but Jon did kiss the evil dragon... then he stabbed her. Good for him.
I feel the need to mention Dante and Agnus's entire scene in Devil May Cry 4. It certainly ends with a bang!
Yeah but Dante didn't mess up that scene, now whether or not he hammied it up is another story
"Is sanity the price to pay for POWER!!!"
Nah that was actually good a little hammy but good nonetheless.
i know its a small thing, but y'all using they/them pronouns for shep makes me incredibly happy
Oh, dear God
The only reason I'm not gonna argue is because Shepard can be either, and it's easier script wise to use "they/them" at that point.
@@azuredragoon2054 okay
They/them, according to the English language, refers to plurality. Many he's /she's = them or they.
@@randallgrubbs9286 okay
Luke’s portrayal of Ellen was definitely missing something, there was no charming laughter to lighten up the room
Every Mass Effect clip is better with FemShep
these are facts.
@lelwut Not really.
When I played _Life is Strange Before The Storm_ for the I decided to not even try to memorize Chloe’s lines and I just googled a walk through to get the lines right and get the best ending possible.
Man I was so excited when I got the chance to have Rachel and Chloe to kiss. My little gay heart exploded with happiness!
Watch eurogamer playthrough of before the storm. It was adorable.
Nathan Arndt if I get the chance and I remember to I will
Imagine watching this video having played ME3 but knowing nothing about any of the DLC and thinking: "Acting in Mass Effect 3? I don't remember- wait, a PROTHEAN? And... and... what is up with that N7 jacket!
The Citadel DLC (that's the one this part is in) is worth every penny, if you like ME (and really, who doesn't?). It's full of injokes and fanservice (the good kind), and shenanigans like the acting. And it's a welcome lighthearted break from the pretty sad mood of ME3
@@orsolyafekete7485 oh yeah I've played through all the DLC multiple times, it's fantastic, I was just imagining how mind blowing it would be for someone who hasn't to watch this video
