Interesting. I bought a second hand zero of this size and it too has a real issue with the CG. I decided there were two approaches, add more weight to the nose or remove a lot of weight from the tail. So I moved the servos a long way forward and used carbon push rods. I replaced the clevises with tiny Z bend wires held on with heatshrink and cyno. I hollowed out a lot of foam in the tail and added a 1mm carbon strip down each side. I even moved the landing gear forward a little. I replaced the receiver with a BYME-A and a tiny S-BUS R-XSR from a drone.
In the end I managed to get a decent CG with no weight in the nose and the whole plane was a lot ligher than before. It now flys quite well in calm conditions and I can take off and land on short grass nicely with the gear moved forward a bit. Being a lot ligher I get good flight times too. Despite all this, it still flies too fast, it likes to tip stall in slower turns and it hates the wind. I'm no expert but I think the wing loading is still too high.
So I learned a lot and I'm pleased I did it. However, I still don't really enjoy flying it all that much unless it is dead calm.

Thanks for sharing your story, I guess we all have a least one model that we keep even though it flies like a dog! Onwards and upwards! Thanks for watching, have a great day!

I sure can relate t this - built a model to the diy plans, balanced right, but just spiraled in and it was also left wing down each time. Must be something there but I couldn't find it, and did as you did, moved on and use my time and electric bits on the next model that shows promise of a better outcome. Thanks for sharing your experience, makes me feel better :) Cheers!

That's a shame. The NiceSky Corsair goes really well with 850mah 3S.

Good to know! Although the Corsair is one of my favourite aircraft I will not be in a "Hurri" to repeat my experience with Nicesky!! Thanks for watching, have a great day!

@@1nformatica The foam is of poor quality and possibly the least crash-resistant that I have ever seen except for the loathsome AR Wing Pro. I have stuck the Corsair's right wing back on a number of times. I also got rid of the single central aileron servo in favour of individual micro servos. Thinking about it - I also changed the ESC, installed flaperons and installed a gyro RX. So - loadsa trouble, but the design at least does fly. On balance I would agree that NiceSky products can be left at the vendor.

I think i had a 700mm P-51 from the same company. I never managed to make it fly correctly. It only had a couple of 3 minute flights, and then i decided it wasn't worth the efford. Had i known earlier i wouldn't have flown it at all. I would have kept it only for static display. Now i got one of these too... and although i am certain IT WILL NEVER FLY, i am still tempted to try.

    • @1nformatica

Pre flight checks including the direction of gyro correction are as always performed before every flight. As for pilot error that is always a possibility! Maybe check through some of my other 160 odd RC videos to see if I can fly or not. The radio gear and gyro were used to maiden the Lancaster recently so it was not equipment failure : ua-cam.com/video/9AM6t9kdA48/v-deo.html I challenge you to find ANY video of this model flying!
