In this video tutorial, I'd like to share with you how I make an elegant eye-catching pendant/lantern out of sketch paper, cardboard and a paper cup.
Please use the drawing paper 225 - 250 gsm for the lampshade. Any paper weight above or under will be less likely to offer rigidity as well as flexibility. For the top cover, it is important to use strong cardboard (approximately 600 gsm) for long term support.
This pendant light measures about 26 - 27 cm wide and 13 - 14 cm in height. Use the low-energy light bulb (below 15 W) for this project. A small LED light bulb is strongly recommended.

I simply LOVE your projects!! I saw your videos while researching making a "dragon's egg" flexahedron and have been hooked ever since! That said, is there any chance that you have mastered those silly round paper lantern balls? I still have a few odd patterns of yours to try but I would bet my eyeteeth that, if anyone has, YOU have figured out how to make traditional holiday round paper lanterns....?

Have a couple of queries:
1) Almost every lantern of yours, you say copy template. But no size is given
2) Will the glowing lantern look the same if we use poster colors to decorate it.
Hello Parag.. the template is a great way for people to replicate the work without having to measure the fine details of patterns. You may be able to draw the template yourself or enlarge it. Simply print out a copy and work it out. If your question is about the size of the product. I usually describe it in the video description. For the second question, the poster colors are not the best way to show color, because almost all the time it appears too dark for the light to penetrate. A good way to show color is to attach pieces of cellophane on the inner side of lampshade.
