I love this and have been wanting to make my own floral shade but I'm concerned about the heat given off by the light fixture igniting the paper, even with LED bulbs. Is there an optimum fixture to use with this project?

Hi there.. use low energy LED bulb that is lower than 10 - 15W. You should be safe.
