I'm SO confused on how they LEAVE IN parts where animals fall off tables and are LITERALLY dead. It's not like they forgot and let their mistakes slip, they literally aren't even trying to hide it, they do edit their videos.

Sad but true, as long as they think people won't notice. I worked at a kids location once and we had a couple events raising pupas to butterflies, and baby praying mantis. The company was getting publicity shots and one of our regulars age 3, was asked to hold her palm out flat to hold a baby praying mantis. The child promptly closed her hand and squashed it dead, I'm sure not out of any malice (she was a sweet little girl), I think she just didn't understand the instruction, maybe got confused or overwhelmed with us employees and the photographer. Yea the newspaper still published the picture of the girl with the dead mantis in her hand. What's the difference, right? *sigh*

In most western countries it is a crime but the sentences are a joke at best.
In the UK the maximum sentence for animal cruelty is 6 months and a ban on owning animals but usually the abuser gets a fine or community service and the ban is only temporary and easily circumvented.
I also think many of these videos are filmed in countries where there are no animal protection laws so there is nothing stopping these people other than the court of public opinion so maybe one day you could be the one who changes that.

I tell her to stop watching those videos but I don't think she understands... Another video I saw was the took a flipping axolotl to a beach, a salt water beach and let it swim. They then took it out of the water and it died... they said "AWWWW look it's sleeping" 0_o and as someone who owns an axolotl all I can say is- what the absolute f***??? Seriously, are adults this dumb? (No offense to those who are actually knowledgeable on how to take care of an animal-- like keeping an aquatic in water...)

Ah yes... UA-cam bashes on people doing doing educational videos about human anatomy and bodily functions, people that show medieval arms and armor in a really fun educational way but they ignore these and those videos of horribly mislead "live feeding" that is less of a "give a live rat to a big snake" but rather a "give a random animal that's barely small enough for the other animal to eat and look at how both struggle and possibly suffer".
I mean yea... A lion hunting a gazelle in the wild might not be a quick deal and the lion could get injured... But if you feed pets it should be as save as possible while being as natural as possible...
Edit : As pointed out in the comment below, even for bigger snakes live rats can be hazardous and I've heard some controversy about feeding live rats. I'm not a reptile owner and the most likely non mamal pet I might aquire would be a pacman frog or a pair of dumpy frogs... Those will get live insects... I knew that if you do give rats to big snakes owners have to make sure the rat gets killed quickly and one has to take the rat out if the snake doesn't show interest. As far as I know it's always a bad idea to just leave prey animals in an enclosure without checking that they are spotted, killed and eaten in general... And that is my basic knowledge from watching the occasional reptile video by people like Soda, Snakediscovery, Clint etc. purely for entertainment as I am most likely to get a frog if I'll ever get a pet that's not a mammal.

I will likely get a frog and I'll feed it live insects with a tong as suggested by suppliers like joshes frogs. Apparently it's not as easy to keep dead insects as nutritious as frozen thawed mice... But I would definitely always make sure that every feeder gets eaten and that there won't be any staying in the enclosure... Depending on the kind of frog I'll get I might even move it into a separate container for feeding...

Oh my gosh. Those videos were disgusting. It's so frustrating when they say like "oh, they weren't in these conditions for long" or "they liked it" or "they're fine actually" because kids will accept that at face value without seeking out the information as to whether or not this is actually okay.
I think they infringe one every single one of the five freedoms of animal welfare. Clearly they aren't given the right to be free from illness and injury, considering we've seen the axolotl and their messed up face. They are not free from stress considering the excessive handling. When they touch the alligator/attempt to touch the alligator it snaps at them which is a pretty clear cut sign they are stressed. The goldfish gasping is another example of the stressing of the animals. They aren't free to express natural behaviours since a fish can't really do much in a small barren bin that doesn't even cover them. How's a fish supposed to be able to swim when their belly is constantly dragging along the floor. They're not given the freedom from discomfort since that poor axolotl is probably uncomfortable or in pain. Tying gauze around a hamster is most likely uncomfortable for the hamster.
The only thing I'm not 10000000% sure of is the freedom from hunger and thirst. Technically the lack of continual access to fresh, clean, drinkable water does block does encroach on that right. We don't know what their diet and water situation exactly looks like though.
Because of all these factors I think it is well within reason to call these actions animal a*use

UA-cam when you abuse animal: that’s fine
UA-cam when you show a naked leg: THATS ILLEGAL

    Man, people are absolutely horrible.
I walked into hobby lobby and there was this vase with a beta in it and it said “aquarium vases”
    It made me so sad

I've seen this sort of thing before too. And I hate this stuff. You've inspired me to speak up on my channel next time I see this kind of thing. Thank you.

So many videos involving animal abuse all have that cutesy stock music over it, which for some reason makes it all the more sickening for me. Now I straight up leave any animal video that has cutesy stock music in not only because it’s annoying but because I now associate that audio track with animal abuse.
Someone please bring this to Mamamax’s attention

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that.
I also now get stressed out by the cutesy music itself even if nothing bad is happening because I associate it with abuse.

I'm honestly concerned how they even managed to snag a catfish and an alligator in the first place. These people clearly aren't even able to keep a turtle in reasonable conditions so why bring in two other creatures that grow bigger, are carnivorous, and need a flipton of space?

I hate it when people use the excuse *“the animals are treated amazing 90% of the time!”* It doesn’t matter, treating them well afterwards doesn’t make up for the fact that you abuse them.

It makes me sad that this still happens because I remember watching it when I was younger and it’s still around.

I feel like UA-cam shouldn't allow these animal abuse videos on the platform.

6:15 just wanted to point out that Syrians and dwarf hamsters are two different species, not breeds. That's why they can't breed with each other 🐹❤☺

Maybe see if the kids want to watch a kid friendly animal documentary? Something that will educate them and hold their attention.

    • @pinkdiamond1847

Maybe you should try and convince your mum to watch some of the content with the kids instead of using the TV as a babysitter.
I've managed to convince a few parents to give up UA-cam kids this way because they instantly think "it has kids in the title it can't be that bad" but once they actually watch what their children have been watching they understand.

I actually didn't even know such videos existed in the Kids side, i am absolutely enraged that they would do this to their animals let alone normalize it to kids. This is not okay, i really hope these animals are alright because my goodness would that be terrifying for them poor babies.

I'm glad that Soda is educating us about disturbing children's content because when I was a kid I watched some weird stuff, (not as weird as what we have now) but even as I kid I kinda knew that something was up... 😢
