Mushrooms will start to grow within two weeks. Kits will produce multiple flushes of healthy edible mushrooms! - Наука та технологія
I got my brother one of these for christmas and he absolutely loves it
Just got my kit today and started my grow! Super excited to learn more about mycology!
Happy to answer any questions you may have!
How did it go if I may ask
Such a great job! You guys inspired me to start my own mushroom lab/farm!
That is awesome! Where is your farm?
@@NorthSporeHey I was I ordered a kit (lions mane) and they are turning brown and aren’t growing so any recommendations?
I finally bought this one and im hyped to start growing
So excited! Just got mine today! Mushroom steaks!!!!!
Mine turned out great and I did the recipe that came with the instructions and it was delicious, just keep the heat low and slow for cooking the ten minutes it says to. I did try it after cooking for five minutes and it was still very good.
How long did it take to get fruits?
Def gonna get me one🤙🏻
Good luck with it!
Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
Got my kits today. Let’s see how this goes.
Awesome I’m gonna do one of these just haven’t decided which one to grow
Let us know if you have any questions!
@@NorthSpore I just ordered lions mane. I’m in Iowa and during the winter months the air is very dry, should I use a humidity dome? I’ll most likely be setting up by the sink in my kitchen.
Awesome choice!! It's definitely worth a try if you can't spray it enough to maintain consistent humidity!
@@NorthSpore doesn’t it affect them if they are sprayed too much? Causing dark spots?
Mine has been sitting in my kitchen for almost a week. I spray it 3 times a day. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Any suggestions other than send it back?
It can take up to 4 weeks for your first flush to start but we are happy to help troubleshoot - is your kit staying hydrated, and is it in a room temperature or warmer environment? Feel free to contact us directly with photos and your order information as well at info@northspore.com
That's awesome. Any chance your products could start growing on my property on their own? I think that would be really cool. I'd like to know how to "Spread the Spore" 😊❤✌
Yes, that is possible! We recommend that people remove the mushroom substrate from within the bag (inside the box) and compost it or incorporate it into a garden bed. It is likely to continue to produce edible mushrooms!
@@NorthSpore Thank you so much for the response. I'll keep that in mind when I get my first kit :D
@@NorthSpore I'll take a million
I thought Lions mane doesn't like to be directly sprayed....makes them turn brown.
No humidity tent??
Also, I foresee many customers cutting thru the plastic while cutting box.
Thanks John! The box itself is perforated. Most people will be able to use their fingers to open it. Alas, we used the box cutter... and certainly there is a chance you'll cut through the bag if you use one. The good news is that it won't really affect anything. Your mushrooms will still grow. We recommend keeping your kit someplace with some ambient humidity, near a sink usually works well. We haven't found the humidity tents to be necessary, but if you live in a particularly dry climate it might help!
Just curious 😊
How many flushes do you normally get from this kit?
We guarantee the first flush, but our kits usually produce 3-4 times if you continue to take care of them. We also have a video that describes all the ways you can use your kit outdoors after it's finished growing inside.
How do I get more flushes? Do I just keep misting it after harvesting it?
Yep, just keep it as humid/moist as possible and they'll grow again!
Is there spores on each side of the substrate? Would I get better yield if I switched sides after every growth? Just trying to figure out how to get more for my money these days!!! I’m 69, so do you give senior discounts? Pertaining to the lion’s Mane, does it taste better without the “hair” or with it left on? Thank you for the opportunity to ask my questions.
Hello! The kits are a fully colonized sawdust block, but it is best to keep only one side exposed as you risk drying out the block by opening more than the front portion. Lion's Mane is best to harvest when the "teeth" or "hair" looking characteristics form. We have a "spin to win" on our website that offers coupon codes, or you can contact us directly (info@northspore.com) after you place your order to apply any relevant promotions!
You may email us with questions there as well :)
How many times can they cultivate? Or is it just one time use and it’s done?
2-3 flushes, typically!
If i keep my house semi cold does this affect the growth ? i live in oklahoma so it's pretty humid usually. i do have a den that doesn't have ac but i think it may get too hot in there ?
Cooler temps will be good for them! Pinks on the other hand, might like your den.
is the fungus box done growing and useless after harvest?
It contains a set amount of mushroom 'food' (amended sawdust). Over time, and hopefully multiple flushes, it will deplete its food source and be finished. At that point you can compost the substrate within or add it to a garden outdoors. Sometimes the mushrooms will establish themselves on other 'food' sources. We've had lots of success getting them to start growing in woodchips and straw beds after being used and exhausted indoors.
I just got my lion’s mane kit. It says to spritz at least twice daily... but how many times should I spritz it each time? Once, twice, thrice, more?? Until there’s moisture on all the plastic? Please help.
just a one or two spritzes each time. The lion's mane will grow naturally with some ambient humidity.
Is it important to keep it right-side up? I need to go on a trip for a couple day's. Can I just lay it horizontally somewhere in the car or must it remain vertical?
No, it can be in any orientation.
Do you just spray a couple times or use the whole spray bottle each time ?
You don't need to empty the bottle but you do want to ensure the X gets damp! This does require some trial and error. For example, if you go to spray the surface and it seems dry, you want to be spritzing it more frequently, with more volume, or adding a humidity tent.
Hey guys, I had a lion's mane kit that I had fruit three separate flushes, but each flush never developed teeth, and quickly turned yellow after attaining any reasonable size. After the first flush I did some research and thought maybe I needed some more air exchange, so I tried using a small fan to get some air movement, but the same problem persisted with the second flush. So, after the second harvest I tried again without the fan and still had the same result. Any thoughts on why I never got any teeth development, and why they were turning yellow?
Lion's Mane needs pretty frequent air exchange which the fan would've helped with, but you also want to maintain high relative humidity for the mushrooms to grow properly. Usually, yellowing indicates the mushrooms are drying out before their prime.
@@NorthSpore Thanks for the reply! I was spraying fairly frequently with the third flush as I thought maybe that was the issues as well, but still had yellowing. When I went to dispose of the block the back side of the block was fairly wet, and there was a blue mold on the side of the block, so I was probably over doing it at that point. Guess it just takes practice to get a well balanced harvest. I'll have to try again some time.
Can they regrow after a harvest and if so how many times?
Most kits have 2-3 flushes and once it is spent you can take your kit outside for round 2 if weather permits! northspore.com/blogs/the-black-trumpet/what-to-do-with-your-mushroom-grow-kit-when-its-done
Can these be used for magic ones ?
No, these are culinary kits only.
Do the mushrooms require any dark time, or a certain light cycle? I own a couple gorilla tents and want to venture off with mushrooms =)
An exact cycle is tough to offer. They really only need a few hours of indirect light a day. Let's go with 4. This may vary somewhat by species.
@@NorthSpore I always thought they grew in the dark, you know fed shit and kept in the dark? I guess I cant use that line anymore =( haha
Hi,
How i can use this kit and use my own spores? I don’t want the default one mushroom which comes with this. Please need your suggestions. I’m looking only for Spray and Grow kit.
See the other comment and reach out to info@northspore.com with further questions.
Can this be used for growing shrooms as well?
No, it's just for growing the four edible species named on the boxes: lions mane, pink oysters, blue oysters, and golden oysters
I got mine to spawn, was spraying 4 times a day, but they ended up drying out anyway, still not giving up
You might have really low ambient humidity. Try creating a humidity tent or Shotgun Fruiting Chamber. More on those here: cascadiamushrooms.com/blogs/cm/how-to-build-a-shotgun-fruiting-chamber-sgfc
How many flushes can I expect?
The yield depends greatly on how much care you put into maintaining your kit! It also varies significantly based on species to species and the growing environment. The species we carry are all vigorous growers and typically produce a first flush of 1/2 lb-2lbs. Most kits will produce between 2-3 flushes of mushrooms. Once your kit is spent (if the weather is warm) you can put your block outside in your yard or garden and potentially get more mushrooms as well! [Here](northspore.com/blogs/the-black-trumpet/what-to-do-with-your-mushroom-grow-kit-when-its-done) is a post we recently made on ways in which you can do this!
Do the grow again after harvesting?
Most kits produce between 2-3 flushes on average. Once your kit is spent indoors, you can move it outside for the possibility of more flushes. We have a video on how to do that, also!
Would it be unsanitary to place mushrooms near your bathroom sink?
Naw, shouldn't be. Maybe keep them out of any splash zones.
Please consider the full cycle of the product in your video. How do we best dispose of the box and substrate bag after use? How long /many times can we expect to harvest mushrooms from that kit? Do we always use the same side or do we need to rotate a quarter turn to use each side once?
Thanks Sebastien, you can compost the substrate within the box and recycle the box and bag. We guarantee the first harvest, but most people get at least two or three. Usually it will take increasing time for the mushroom mycelium to gather the 'strength' to produce subsequent flushes. In other words, your first flush usually starts within two weeks. The second flush may come another 2-3 weeks after that, a third flush may take a month or more. You don't need to slice any side but the one with the perforated line. Adding additional slices to the bag doesn't increase your yield, but will make the kit more prone to drying out. Hope this helps!
Just got my grow box in today. Lions Mane. How many grows will I get out this box?
You can get 2-3 harvests from that! After the 2nd it (just the plastic bag inside) can be dunked for maybe an hour and drained well to rehydrate. Or, you can move it outside. Check this out: northspore.com/blogs/the-black-trumpet/what-to-do-with-your-mushroom-grow-kit-when-its-done
@@NorthSpore thanks for the info.
about how many grams of dried mushrooms does one of these kits yield ?
So you can get 1-2 lbs fresh off of a Spray and grow kit over the course of a few flushes. Considering that the mushrooms are about 90% water, you can do the math from there.
Guys, should i be spraying each fruit a few times each in 2 sessions a day? I'm not sure how much to water the fruits. Or if I should be just watering one area with 3 sprays each spray session?
For lions mane in particular
You don't need to empty the bottle but you do want to ensure the X gets damp! This does require some trial and error. For example, if you go to spray the surface and it seems dry, you want to be spritzing it more frequently, with more volume, or adding a humidity tent. If your home is dry or you live in a dry climate, I always recommend a humidity tent to be sure your kit gets the humidity it needs while growing!
Humidity Tent Instructions: Simply take a trash bag or other loosely fitting plastic bag and put PLENTY of 1/2 inch holes in it (THIS IS IMPORTANT: Mushrooms exhale CO2 and inhale oxygen. They will suffocate themselves if there isn’t adequate airflow! Mushrooms that look stringy or strange are usually growing that way because they need more air!). Spray the slice at least once per day with the included spray bottle. If you choose to use a humidity tent make sure to spray the inside of the tent once per day to maintain humidity.
@@NorthSpore Thank you Northspore! I will try the humidity tent on my next grow box. I love your products and service! Just to clarify your saying I should spray every section of the "X" I created from the box until it is damp, correct?
@@joelslife614 Correct!
What if mine grew pinkish? Is it a problem?
No, that's pretty normal. It could mean that they're a bit stressed. Make sure there is plenty of airflow and consistent humidity. If things are good, they usually grow past the pink.
do you ship to germany??
Unfortunately, we do not ship spawn or sterile substrate products internationally.
Any plans on adding Shitakes?
We have a Shiitake kit that is considered the easiest out of our "Advanced" kits. You can find it here: northspore.com/collections/grow-at-home-indoor-mushroom-kits/products/grow-your-own-shiitake
For the love of mycology!
Practically, I can grow anything in this kit, can't I?
These kits are already inoculated with gourmet edible species that are vigorous enough to grow on your countertop in just a few weeks!
Do these make you trip??
No, they are edible species
Oh nevermind...
