The Most Realistic VR Survival Game - Bootstrap Island

- Bootstrap Island is the Most Realistic VR Game I've Ever Played. Bootstrap Island blew me away. I have played a lot of VR survival games but Bootstrap Island has the best VR survival mechanics I've ever seen. Building fires is a one to one process in this game. Perfectly translated into VR. And the Stanley parable pirate narrator adds so much to the gameplay too. I feel like a marooned pirate actually trying to survive and just, wow.

Watching habie actually play our game feels like a surreal dream come true! By the way, we just updated the night system yesterday so you don't get attacked every night. We also plan to patch in a Peaceful Mode next week because hey, sometimes you just want to chill on an island and sit by the fire.
nice
game looks really good, I want to check it out on the Pimax Crystal! I see that its UE, did you enable quad views foveated rendering? should be just a checkbox in UE, from what I heard. Would be a huuuge perfoemance improvement for us Crystal/QPro/Aero users.
Not playing ur game until you do lol
@bootstrapisland6598 Are there any plans of porting the game to the quest/quest store? I'd absolutely love to play your game, but I can't really run PCVR related stuff, so I'm just stuck using a quest 2.
@@AnUnfortunatePotato No plans for a Quest port at this time. Right now, we want to see how far we can push PCVR.
BRO when he holds up his hand against the sunlight (0:38), the FINGERS LIGHT UP! What an awesome piece of detail!
It’s insane
@@andrijasinadinovic3216 Keep yourself safe now!
@@andrijasinadinovic3216hes saying kys for some reason
@@andrijasinadinovic3216 Regardless of how insane/new it is or isnt, it is still a really nice detail that looks great, especially when you consider VR limitations.
@@andrijasinadinovic3216 They were telling you to kys for being a pedantic nerd I think
I just adore these VR games that actually take advantage of the medium. Feels like you hardly ever get anything that feels like, well, an actual virtual REALITY. Physically interacting with the world is one of the most important aspect and barely any games do this.
this is true for flat screen games too. it comes down to being “do you want to play an immersive sim” which many people hate but the ones of us that like it have to suffer after everything else feels like shit in comparison.
We need a next level Deus Ex/VtM:B style game.
Absolutely agree, example of games taking advantage of VR are half life alyx (interactive environment) Walking dead (melee realism) and Bonelab
3:25 he actually blows the fire. that was so funny. lol
I laughed ,but then thought how amazingly cute it must be instinct.
Some games actually do utilize the mic for a "blowing" mechanic so it was worth a shot honestly.
OK, I thought I was the only one that noticed😂
IRL, finding two rocks to make sparks on a tropical island might not be easy. Instead, use sticks to make a hand drill or fire plow to make a coal; then transfer the coal to the inside fibers of a brown coconut, and either blow or wave the ember until you get flame.
As someone who has actually tried this it’s a lot harder then it sounds. It’s dooable but very hard. You also need to hit steel with a rock to get sparks, hence flint and steel
@@ashelyfrankow149 Yes, it takes a lot of practice to do reliably. Also, not every type of wood works for that. You best need to figure that stuff out before you get stranded on a lonely island
@@ericdreblow8564 100%
Making a fire without modern materials (some exlusions, like, we used a synthetic cord for the firebow) was our final in my highschool Anthropology class at the time lol. My group came the closest by generating a substantial amount of smoke and chars but no coal would form unfortunately. Was a lot of fun, learned a lot from it.
@@knoxianpanda Lol the fact it was a whole student project and given all that time all you guys didn't manage to get it says something about the odds if we get stranded.
"i will never try to sell you a ball trimmer or a vpn"
this is why we love you habie
I love the physics and animations here, really makes everything feel just that bit more realistic
Wake up babe a new Habie video dropped.
Wake up gabe a new Gabie vid just dropped

Holy Fuck. I cannot BEGIN to describe how much is falling into place right now; discovering that Habie has been watching Sips for a decade.
You haven't changed one bit. Your wholesome personality is as shining as always! Man, am I glad you blew up. I remember this channel from back when it started!
habie blew up?!? RIP 🪦
@@JigglesMcRibs he died as he lived... by blowing pe-
Same mate I remember when he first did the atomic mirror brain section lol
Thank you very much for not trying to sell us ball trimmers or VPNs. It truly is greatly appreciated! I've managed to survive a bit more than a week in Bootleg Island so far. It's grueling, lol, but I love it. Looking forward to them adding more content to the game! You can see spots where they intend to do things later, mostly in the caves & stuff.
As someone who grew up watching Sips also, it's pretty clear you were influenced by the Real Guy and the Best Guy and that's why I enjoy your content so much.
Watching you hit your hand with the rock at 3:26 while trying to make sparks for the fire and say "Ow!" is peak realism.
He was even blowing on it
He probably actually smashed his controllers together
The Evening with Sips references were nostalgia i didnt expect! I can't wait for an Evening with Habie!
i love me some sips appreciation man
That it is 10 years ago blows my mind
Honestly if the Dragons didn't have the whole venom thing, i would try to wrestle one.
Always a good time when Habie uploads
Toujours nice oui.
Your reaction to the Komodo dragon got me dead
3:26 bro really blew on that virtual fire 🤣🤣🤣 definitely something I would do haha
Finally, an actually realistic substitute for actual bushcraft for people who want to bushcraft but don't want to risk dying.
5:09
“The mountain spoke.” 🗿
this game looks sick
"I'm gonna eat this coconut, but that is really impressive." Hawaiians when James Cook was rolling up
Nate G not being mirror brain anymore is actually monumental
When you were approaching that big plant at the end of this video a voice in my head said “Hmmm, I wonder if I can I smoke that…”. Now see, that’s just me. I’d start my “adventure” trying to find plants and shrooms that would make me not give a rip when Mister Komodo Dragon comes to eat me because I was busy centering my chakras instead of trying to start a fire.
This game realy captures the struggles and small victories depicted in Castaway
I hope this game adds immersive building. I want to scrap the shipwrecks you see scattered around and build a shelter and furniture out of them, or even a small boat or raft.
This is exactly what I've wanted in a game for so long, hope there's the same mechanic with toolbuilding, like you grab a stick a rock and some rope or something, tie the rock on and the way you tie it, where etc actually has effect on the efficacy of it
@Habie147 I used to volunteer in a zoo, more specifically I worked with the reptiles. I can confirm, Komodo Dragons are very much like puppies that could kill you with ease. Just make sure they're fed and they're gentle pups who can potentially kill you. The Zoo Keeper I worked with loved them so we'd hang out with them on break.
your a real youtube habie whether you like it or not. You have a regular upload schedule, you have patrons, and most importantly, you actually put effort into your editing
Thank you sm for making these videos! Im getting my first vr headset soon and your one of the main reasons Im dishing out so much to play. You find the best games and perfectly show them off
I just played this using my Katwalk !! Being able to physically move through this game was such a delight! Can’t wait to spend more time in it
love how habie has become a celebrety amongst weird but awesome vr devs, bought the game a bit ago but been scared on how it'd run or if at all with my computer blue screening if I alt tab hard enough. I now want to fight 4 comodo dragons with a coconut
God I love @Habie147 videos...just the perfect way to start a Saturday morning. Thanks for what you do for VR and for laughing up our lives. Cheers dude.
Instantly bought that... always happy to support developers that actually make high quality PC VR content.
I agree, it is a great game if Habie uploads
3:26 blowing on the fire was hilarious😂
Was wondering when you'd cover this awesome game. Nice. Excited to watch!
*Narrator starts talking*
Habie: 'God?'
Just wanted to say I love your videos man❤
habbie147 more like yeah
Love seeing Habie being a caveman without a cave, but with a gun.
We drownin with this one🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥💯💯
I love sips and can definitely see his influence on you. I will definitely be watching that playthru
It's my current favourite VR game. Looking forward to seeing what comes next in future updates
“I’m not about to sell you all ball trimmer… or vpn.” Thank you Habie. You just get it.
Memories from beyond a coral sea is another pretty cool game, there's a lot to explore and find.
Glad I subbed for the rumble stuff, dude is such a captivating speaker
"I'm not about to try to sell you a ball trimmer or a VPN, I never have and I never will."
This is why you're the MVP. I always cringe a little when youtubers start reading obvious ad-copy like "I'm totally hooked on Generic Match 3 Mobile Game, I've played it EVERY SINGLE DAY for MONTHS," when we all know they uninstalled it immediately after recording the mandatory footage of sitting on their couch scrolling through menus.
"It's just a smaller coconut inside" i'm dying :D
I wouldn't be surprised if you told me this game was developed by the guy who made the 4k Skyrim cabbage mod
Been hoping you'd cover this one. Very fun game
I really like how you dropped "Sips plays the stanely parable" as if I am supposed to know who/what "Sips" is. Very brave choice.
god I’m so old
He blew on the fire 🔥...love it
Habie is the only relaxing/funny hybrid UA-camr I can recall seeing. I can’t wait for him to hit 1 mil
My biggest concern with this game is the constant smashing of objects together. I know my smooth brain would get too immersed and end up smashing my index controllers together and destroying them.
Did not expect a "Sips plays Stanley parable" reference in a video about a vr survival game
Always, love your videos and positivity!
Bro waves at volcanoes. What a legend
Love that habie is a true UA-cam OG watching the yogscast 😂
"It's the opposite of jump!"
Press X to slump.
This looks like someone made a Cast Away game with horror bits thrown in for extra night creepiness
best stick playing content i’ve seen hoping this is a little series on the other chanel
0:43 The washing machine made me wheeze laugh!!
probably the most accurate explainer for the atomic mirror brains yet
I love that he blew on a virtual fire
Been waiting for a VR game like this ever since "Hand Simulator: Survival"
Personally, I think the devs should retool the campfire system a bit. For normal players, the current system works fine but I think for a survival/hardcore mode, the only way to get sparks should either be from firing your flintlock, using a discarded padlock and a rock, or rubbing two sticks together for a solid 15 minutes until you get an ember going, maybe also add that to get a fire going, you need kindling (fibrous material like coconut husk or some bits of rope) and it won't start if there's only fuel (wood).
Also, pro tip for new players: Swim for the shipwreck immediately after you start the game, go under the big ship and climb the rope onto the stern. After that, go into the Captain's Cabin and get the permanent flintlock holster upgrade. Most likely, you'll get eaten alive by the monsters after that but at least the upgrade is a permanent one that you'll get automatically every subsequent playthrough.
im so excited to watch hours of habie playing with sticks
8th time (I think) of asking Habie to play Oathbreakers VR.
Its like RuneScape
BUT IN VR
I don't know any really good VR youtube channel in portuguese, so I will stay here struggling with my bad english to keep enjoying this amazing content :D
You're a good guy glad yoyr channels been doing good
yet another great vid
I love that you palm everything like a basketball
literally my favorite vr youtuber
Wild to see so many huge creators playing this.
The way Habie apologizes after every video makes me feel guilty for watching
Another gem added to my wishlist
oh boy I sure do hope my favorite streamer actually streams today!
habie blowing oxygen to the fire made me purchase.
5:44 "Alright everyone, let's please pay our respects to Nate G, may he rest in pea-"*fart noises*
1:38
HOLY REFERENCE
I don't know why but the fire making really sold me
Can you believe that habie is close to 1 million subs!? I remember finding him at 20k love ya content habie!!
Komodo dragons are pretty cute, they are like dogs, but venomous micro dragons with out wings.
Habie I've been watching you pretty much since the beginning. You're the best.
Dude you mentioning Sips was a nostalgia hit that I wasn't ready for.
I fucking love these videos always. Best reason to wake up every Sunday morning
You know it’s a good day when habie uploads
We NEED a part 2.
3:25, bro really blew on his mike, I’m dead
still waiting on that second channel playthrough…
Yes! I was hoping you would upload more on your second channel
I want a good series of this
Discovering that you're a sips fan makes me like you even more
A habie lets play is something I didn’t know I wanted. I am pleasantly surprised
I’d love to see your play through of this!
Using the wilhelm scream was a touch of class. 🤌
I will watch series, please, god. I do not have a headset, but i would love to see a playthrough.
I wonder if that "falling over" button is a "feign death" mechanic. Like maybe those animals at night will leave you alone.
Really considering buying this
