The martial arts is called Teras Kasi. Its a combat form thats specifically designed to help combat force sensitives and jedi. It was first introduced in 1996, its been in books, it had a game named after it, it was its own class in the Star Wars Galaxies MMO and was also in the new Solo movie.
Great to hear ya'lls thoughts. I think one aspect I've caught from rewatching the trailer is remembering that Jedi in the high republic are probably very much keepers of the peace and I find the idea kinda cool that they don't use their lightsabers unless absolutely necessary, I'm interested to see what this era is like since I haven't really gotten into it very much. We shall see, I'm always rooting for good star wars, can't wait for ya'lls reaction when it comes out!

Star Wars Acolyte takes place towards the end of the High Republic
this would before Palpatine, and during the Rule of 2 also. Btw the alien jedi girl is X23 from Logan. The Jedi should know martial arts, they are supposed to be very accomplished warriors and during the High Republic the Jedi Order were at there peak.
Speaking of Clone wars, I dont know if you like Marvel and the MCU, but if you do I would highly recommend reacting to Agents of shield. Its basically like the Clone wars of the MCU. The show that many people disregard, but is in fact not only fantastic, but that also adds so much lore etc to the universe its apart of. I love both CW and AOS.

Interesting reaction. I thought the martial arts stunt choreography was a 10/10. There's an acrobatics to it that I find incredibly impressive.

You should react to it! The reason I’m excited is because I’m tired of seeing every show or movie tied to the prequels, original trilogy, or sequels. No more connections to Skywalker, Yoda, or Palpatine please! So it’s nice to have a story take place hopefully separate from all of those characters.
I was underwhelmed by the teaser as well but mostly because of the visuals. Fun fact though: none of this show was shot using The Volume. So it’s got that going for it visually at least.
Definitely in the minority when you say it should be about a young Palpatine. The vast majority want something completely removed from the Skywalker era Star Wars. High Republic is a step towards going pre-Yoda Old Republic. If this and the 20,000 year BBY project work, they're much more likely to give us Revan.

it sounds kinda like your trying to destroy this trailer talking about someones hair now your just nitpickng at that point and about the budget avatar the last airbender and one piece live action was the 2 most expensive tv shows netflix has ever made it would be hard to pass that

Kotor stuff + kung fu + pleasant color grading, if the story is interesting unto itself I'm excited.
The Lucas-Filoni traditional tendency for the main serialized stuff has touched on Kotor-adjacent ideas a bit in cool ways, but I'd really like this or something soon to straight up steal from Kotor/TOR and bring those nuanced dynamics, themes, arguments and characters back into the full bright daylight of current relevant SW.
when a new voice does in fact have different passions or inclinations, especially now that SW is overtly a la carte, I'm more interested than nervous to see wtf comes out.

Character design doesn't look any different than the book and comic art before Disney owned it. So many reacting now really don't know a lot of the material background from the Legends books before Disney and then it all just comes from Disney.
Have to agree with this as a 40 year fan of Star Wars.

I think the weirdness feel is just the unknown of it, we don't know any of these character we don't know the story it is all new and we are just a little hesitant about it. I think also the story telling NEEDS to be at least cool (Andor spoiled me sorry haha).
The green character with the robes in the earlier part of the trailer is actually a popular high republic character from the books and comics but most of these characters are newly made for this show yes.

What I meant was this trailer was shot from the perspective of the jedi to make us as confused as the jedi and the other reason was to make you think that the jedi are the protagonists of this show when in reality it's the opposite
Don't listen to the hate directed at Leslie Headland. The RWNJ's are just going after her and the show because she's gay and the lead actor is non-binary. She's a huge Star Wars fan, a big George Lucas fan and she's even going to bring some stuff from the EU into this series. I think it's going to be fantastic.
Should definitely react to it, the trailer left me on the fence. I thought the tone would be darker following the sith and all.

Please no more characters from the Skywalker saga, Star Wars is desperately in need of a new era and story. I'd be perfectly happy if there was no Palpatine or Yoda in this series
Hmmm, not too sure about this one, a little disappointed if I'm going to be completely honest.. every time I see a star wars-ish thing by Disney it shouts to me that they aren't listening to their fans, also certain scenes seem over emphasized in cringey ways.. Mandalorian was fantastic so hopefully this will turn out great.. after all I am judging off a trailer lol, also I see what you are saying about the dude, it would of been great if they made him more rugged and battle worn instead of pretty haha
That guy is actually from the comics/books and is a popular character. It wouldn't be right to change him just for the show.

What the hell does a haircut have to do with a storyline. For kids, you are so damn opinionated about things that have nothing to do with the content of the story.
Like most newer Disney outings, it looks like fanfic. Not optimistic.
