no, it stays. I had mine for over a year with no problem until I sold the car.
You need to remove the blue painters tape immediately when you spray the final coat to be honest
The lettering stands out more than when it was chrome . Nice job!

Needs a couple of more layers...also its easier to peel if you don't let it dry completely the last coat....
Unfortunately the toothpick scratches the clear coat.

For anyone else with the same question-- that blue tape is called "painter's tape". You buy it at any big-box hardware store like Lowe's or Home Depot.
