- Total restoration of a pair of Wolverine 1000 mile boots.
Stitching the uppers. New Dainite soles, with leather middle soles. Restoring the heel socks, with new padding. Removing salt stains and dirt and reconditioning the leather with Saphir Renovateur.

Great job‼️ With this pandemic going on and businesses needing work instead of sending my boots down to Los Angeles for repairs I decided to use local cobblers, live few miles outside a town of 160,000 in the Monterey Bay Area on the Central Coast of California and it has three cobblers and not sure if any of them can repair boots. Stopped by one jus for heels on a pair of 1000 miles and another for a resole of another pair of 1000 mile boots using Vibram mini lug soles, when I picked them up the one cobbler did fine with the heels but not much of a job while the other doing the resole didn’t use a midsole and just put the mini lug sole right to the welt‼️ Told the guy it needed a midsole to help cushion and support the boot and he tells me he has been doing this for 35 years and I say you been doing it wrong for 35 years. Moral of the story is while trying to help local business I’ve suffered in my boot repairs and think I’ll just go back to sending all my repairs back to Brain the Bootmaker down in LA‼️

...you don't cut a groove around the sole before stitching the sole so the stitches are in the groove and not sitting on the surface of the sole?

No. There is no need for that. Rubber against leather with the proper adhesive and pressure is more than enough. Sometimes I do it for show, but it has no practical use.

you sir are a true craftsman. any idea how old those boots were? I don't wear my 1000 miles that often and take very good care of them and after 3 years they still look practically brand new?
No. The customer purchased them used from a second hand store. He had no idea. I estimate them 3-6 yrs and poorly cared for.

How do you guys get wrinkled leather to keep it's shape again? Not just a tree inside the shoe...
The new soles helps stretch the upper back. And when you wash the shoes so they are really wet, the shoe trees does the rest.
You do everything perfectly but you not remove wrinkle

I don't know enough spanish to be confident in what you're asking. Are you asking about the filler underneath the mid sole? That is a cork paste. Corche pasta.

Yes I am a cobbler. I repair shoes.
Ha ha probably moore like a master cobler witch would be the highest craftmanship title. If not himself his boss probably they are one of Sweedens greatest coblers in Uppsala Sweedens maybee 5th bigest city.
