Extreme restoration with new foot beds, on Crockett & Jones Chelsea VIII

- These shoes were almost beyond rescue. The foot beds were cracked and they are very difficult to replace without the original last. Furthermore the linings were worn out in several places. The replacement of the foot beds provided an opportunity to replace or repair the lining though. The linings in chelseas are very preshaped and more or less impossible to replace without the right tools to shape a chelsea lining. My only option was to repair the lining. The heel counters were also dead and needed to be replaced.
I recommended the customer to buy new shoes. The Crockett & Jones Chelsea 8 are €690, and I figured the job would cost around €600. The customer chose to restore them. When replacing the old foot beds it's very important to not change the size of the shoe. Since the foot beds are like shoe shoes chassi. The old foot beds needs to be copied exactly and everything put back carefully to exactly as it was. After I had glued the uppers to the foot beds I had the customer come in and carefully try them on to check the size before I locked it in place with the new welts. After that it was easy street, and quite standard procedures on everything. - Навчання та стиль
Amazing work, the final result blew me away.
these are now new shoes with a "broken in " shoe patina. Love it, hope the customer was happy.
The customer must love those boots. I wouldn't pay €600 for a shoe repair. Fabulous work though. You are an artist.
Technically that's not a repair, that's a restoration, and he saved the customer $90 USD, for some customers that's a great deal, plus they get to keep their favorite shoes.
Unless this shoe had a sentimental value, I’d just purchase a brand new pair 😅
Having said that, these boots are masterfully done to their former glory!
Agree but I'm also glad we got to see this rebuild
I hate breaking in new boots. I’d rather have my old pair formed to my foot as long as they turned out this good.
@@michaelc9896 I completely agree. If the upper is viable, I'd have them repaired too. It is healthier for the environment and economy too, if that matters to you.
WOW, new shoes again. Great job.
Very nice! Better than expected. Extremely talented!
You are a gifted craftsman. Excellent❤
Wow...excellent work....the final result was amazing.
Nice repair, boots looking great! 👍🤩👍
Beautiful work.
This is the content we subscribe for! I love it
Usted lo que hace es puro arte. Increíble
Awesome job..!
incredible job ..i'd love to be able to do this and repair my own pair instead of needlessly buying new pairs when they wear-out too much and i'm practically walking through them
Удивительное преображение... Браво, Мастер!!!
You are the best!
Beautiful❤
Perfect!
Shoes resurrected from the grave by the Magician!
Qué maravilla !
Super I’ll bet they fit like a glove Better than new ones They have that worn in look
Great Job!!!! I Would Have Bought A New Pair!!!!
🔥🔥🔥
wow! Imponerande att du kan göra det där för €600.
$600 in 14 minutes. that's a great return on your labor 😁
Wünschte es wären meine
Schöne Arbeit
Vad är fördelen med plastgelänk jämfört med trä?
Den går inte av. Trägelänkar bryts ofta av med tiden.
Как у нас говорят, из говна сделал конфетку😄👍
Do you belong to a fight club, or do you get so banged up just being a cobbler?
Do you seriously expect a reply? Don't you know the first rule of fight clubs?
Why even buy a pair of repairable shoes when the reparation is just as expensive as a new pair.... Could probably buy 2 pairs of just as good quality just without the added complexity of a goodyear welted chelsea.
Yeah its kind of silly. When I was young and in the time of my parents and grandparents, cobblers were plentiful and affordable. You'd go to a cobbler because they were cheaper than getting a new pair. Now, cobblers are hard to find, and when you find them they're just as expensive as a new pair of shoes. The smallest repair they'll do is a heel cap for $50 and they'll reject all but the expensive shoe repairs. Also, for $600 you'd think he would at least use metal shanks and sewn in gemming or foot bed.
El arreglo por 600 euros? Acá en argentina me compro 10 pares de esas botas del mejor cuero. Vaya a robar a otro lado.
