My mother’s 2020 trailblazer with the smaller 1.2L 3 cylinder engine has 89k miles and has had 0 issues. She changes the oil every 3-5k miles and is very happy with it. Changes the cat fluid every 30k miles. She does routine maintenance.

I have a 2022 Chevy Trailblazer RS and I absolutely LOVE the thing! It has 81,728 miles as I'm typing this comment. Only ever needed oil changes, 1 set of tires, front struts at 80K (not bad, just slowly failing), wiper blades, and a trans flush at 61K. Definitely recommend it!
I had to replace the struts on my Honda fit at 80k. That's because I drove that little thing off road lolol. But next time you do transmission fluid just drain and refill. Flush is a dirty word around here. Lol if it's CVT want to do it every fifty k.
15,000 miles for $16,000? And it's the RS? No way. That's a REALLY good deal. He stole that thing. The cheapest ones I can find around me are the FWD versions with around 40,000 miles for $19,000. The 2022 AWD's around 25,000 miles go for over $20,000. That's an awesome price.
I was going to look at the new small Buick version with the same engine . I didn't go look at it because they have the rubber wet timing belt . I still am not comfortable with a rubber belt running in oil . I skipped it and got a Mazda that is time tested and has a six speed trans .
@ErvuJukl Ford had the same setup and it was failing at 80k . I don't have a lot of money so I can't take a risk on some new engineering guess as to weather it will last .
Scotty says, buy THE warranty. Remember, folks, not all warranties are created equal and a lot of them are outright scams and don't cover ANYTHING! So, pay attention when buying a warranty. And, STAY AWAY FROM CARSHIELD!!!
You talked about Carbon cleaning for GDI. In 20k miles if you don't get the carbon cleaning you will have performance issues with your vehicle. After the carbon cleaning you will feel like your vehicle is new again with performance.
I have an 07 mercury grand marquis LS. I change my oil every 6000 at the most 6500 miles and I try to never go over that and it works really good for me. My oil always looks like when I change it like I just put the oil in. It’s that clean.
The Grand Marquis & the Grand Victoria are the best vehicles that Ford has made in the last few years. I understand that they are bullet proof and last a long time. Too bad Ford has gone down the drain in terms of quality over the past few years.
After 55yrs of working, and driving Used cars/trucks, I bought my first new truck. A Chevy Colorado Truck 6 yrs ago OTD cash for 26k. My last truck new or used , unless it gets totaled. It gets 30 mpg highway unladen with 2.5 L 4 with manual 6 speed transmission.
We drove our Toyota Highlander to Montreal in mid-October and stayed at a motel near the port in Boucherville. When we woke up, we found there were cracked driver side and passenger side windows and the rear passenger window was entirely broken out. They didn't take anything inside. The police officer said they were trying to steal the car to ship at the port to Asia. We were glad the theft didn't succeed. We had to drive home to Illinois with a quilt over the broken out window. Whew - a close one! Stay away from Montreal!
You did a review of the 2021 Trailblazer a while back and at that time you mentioned that the suv is actually a front wheel drive unless you press the AWD button. My question is, when am I supposed to engage the AWD since I live in an area that is fairly flat land, but we do have harsh winters ?
@@S.L.S-407 that is completely irrelevant to what the poster and myself are talking about. The poster pointed out that someone they know, has a front drive only model that has the CVT. The 9 speed is for AWD models only is the point we're making.
I have a 2023 Rs trailblazer with cvt transmission. Only got 21k miles on it, but it's nice to know that ppl who got the first models are getting to that mileage! I always believe that good maintenance takes your car a long way. I've also done my own maintenance, so I always stay on top of it.
So you're ok with recommending a Korean car when it says Chevy and recommend buying 2 extended warranties at a cost of 3500 to 8,000 when Kia Niro Hybrid comes with a 100,000 mile 10 year warranty for free and a used ome with 30,000 miles costs 14,000, that I paid for mine, with no turbo and no CVT and gets over 50 mpg and runs 200,000 miles. Think about it.
Hi Scott. I’m thinking about buying a decent used car for my teenage daughter, not breaking down causing danger, which car do you think it’s safe for a teenage girl and lasts? Please, reply. Thank you.
I own one with the 1.3 liter timing chain engine with the CVT and love it. Just under 30 mpg in town. Loaded with options 2023 LT trim for 25,000. Lots of power redline is somewhere around 6500, but with a CVT you never meed to go above 3000 rpm and that is in the power range. I would rather have the CVT than the constantly searching 9 speed. I also bought extended GM warranty.
It’s probably built in the Daewoo factory that GM bought years ago. As for the Theta engines, the 2.4 l had the major issues the 2.5 GDi N/A is fine mostly.
Thats a really good deal, just looked and couldnt find one for less than $20k. But that little engine tho👎. I went car shopping a few months ago, test drove a new trax - its a damn car, not an suv and couldnt find one for less than $25. Settled for a 2021 equinox awd lt with 12k miles for $23k. They ruined the new 2025 equinox😡. My next car will be a 2rs blazer - could have gotten one for $24k.

Does Bill Korea, so that means it’s either a Hyundai or a Kia right?
i know someone that got a chevy tracks and the screen already cut out once .
I thought for a second there .. Scotty has lost his marbles recommending a GM product..
No way will a GM Garbage Manufacturing product ever make its way back into my driveway.
Agreed 💯. GM government motors
@s-man3684 lol sadly true
Hi Scott. I’m thinking about buying a decent used car for my teenage daughter, not breaking down causing danger, which car do you think it’s safe for a teenage girl and lasts? Please, reply. Thank you.
Apparently a Chevy Trailblazer. 5-10 year old Corolla or Camry
Can’t find any of these for $16k there like $19k to 21k with more miles might as well get the new one for a couple more bucks
My bank lady has one. Its always in the parking lot. Its a sporty looking rig; caught my eye when I first saw it.
It's a sad day when anyone thinks an entry level Chevy is worth us even worth the aluminum recycle value
Still waiting on the new 15000 Toyota
You need to go-back-in-time about 20 years
I don’t believe the owner is getting that kind of mileage. In fact these don’t get good mileage despite such a tiny engine.
Engine probably built in the same factory as the notorious Theta Hyundai engines. Hyundai only had to replace 250,000 of those engines
It’s probably built in the Daewoo factory that GM bought years ago. As for the Theta engines, the 2.4 l had the major issues the 2.5 GDi N/A is fine mostly.
Does Scotty live in Rhode island?
Scotty needs to do a video in 3D! 😂😂
This is scotty's next suv
That was a great price, others online with the same mileage are north of 20k.
Wasn't the Ford Festiva engine Korean? I had an 89 that had 265,0000 on it when a lady with no insurance totaled it. It was also a manual.
Festiva had a Mazda engine and was built by Kia. The Festiva, Mazda 121, and Kia Pride were all the same car.
@@tyo8223 Thank you for that info.
@@tyo8223 So it's a Japan and Korea merger.
Why didn’t you upload this Friday?
Look like a Kia Seltos like we have here in Jamaica
Wait until he sees one word :
STABILITRAK
😂😂😂😂😂😂
1,3l and 9 speed transmission? 🤣 ... very efficient, the transmission makes most of the weight of the vehicle
Hopefully he bought a GM warranty. Not a crappy TV type warranty.
Yes I did all GM warranties on both my Trailblazers
@johnpuglia1034 very good
What?! But I thought Carshield was the best thing for cars since the invention of round tires?!
Scotty is slipping he closed the door and it sounded like an oil drum😂
Thats a really good deal, just looked and couldnt find one for less than $20k. But that little engine tho👎. I went car shopping a few months ago, test drove a new trax - its a damn car, not an suv and couldnt find one for less than $25. Settled for a 2021 equinox awd lt with 12k miles for $23k. They ruined the new 2025 equinox😡. My next car will be a 2rs blazer - could have gotten one for $24k.

Wow, Scotty. I guess you haven't had time to fill the cowling all full of leaves yet.
WTF is this matchbox??! The Trailblazer used to be a normal size SUV, not this lil' toy-sized nonsense!
To be honest, I find it kind of cringe to hear Scotty PRAISING a GM product.
I hope he hasn't become a sale out!
@@jorger7723just a "good honest old time mechanic" he told us himself, many times.
When he mentioned how good the wheels looked, that bow-tie center cap jumped out and smacked me in the face.
I agree what is Scotty thinking!
41 mpg my arse.
they used the mazda cx-5
Hell, they may have just as well stuck a V-Twin Briggs and Stratton 22 horse lawnmower engine in it.
I'm sure this Trailblazer has around 160HP. The one in the Nissan Rogues are 1.5 liter turbo, and 201 HP.
We’re safe now, thank the lord we have Trump!
@ not sarcasm lol, we’d be screwed with Kamala.
Just more wars and a crashing economy.
it is too heavy for a 3 cylinder and should be a manual transmission with a timing chain not a timing belt
What is your take on the new 2025 John Deer Pickup Truck
I live in the Caribbean, So I hav to get cars from Japan used. The prices are better
Thanks 👍
Good for city
Hyundai bought out Daewoo the GM owned subsidiary.
A rebadged Hyundai/Kia /Sasangyong /Daewoo- GM.
No kurbelwinkels on this one!
Not a deal or value Scotty. You buy one first and then I'll think about it.
Bow tie or no tie
Wet belt tech.? Bad idea.
